This is a great gym at a very reasonable price. It's usually not overly crowded, so it's easy to get a good workout in without waiting for equipment. Flex Gym - Gyms Near Me - Woodland Hills, California

After reading some of the negative reviews, I have to chime in. Hearing a response from the owner is one thing, but hearing it from a customer is another. And I would like to address some of the things said. I have been a member of Flex for about a year and a half now. In my opinion, it's the best in the valley. I tried 24 hr fitness - multiple women in the locker room had their lockers broken into, wallets and keys stolen. A member told me the bathroom upstairs and locker room are always "gross" (and they were). The gym floor was also gross, and nothing was ever put back in place I had a membership at LA Fitness. It was alright. Not the cleanest, nothing was ever put back, and the equipment isn't the best First off, the only reason I'm giving 4 and not 5 stars, is the hours of operation. I wish they were open later every day, and earlier on Sundays. Why I love Flex: 1. The machines. Someone said the machines are old, which is WILD, because they're not... they actually have a ton of new machines (some as new as this year). And they have machines you will not find at most gym. Examples: reverse hyper, bootybuilder hip thrust machine, belt squat machine, pendulum squat, 3 different hack squat machines, seated straight leg calf machine, arsenal strength shoulder machines, power racks, deadlift jack, prowler/sled, tires, heavy bags, and cable attachments such as MAG grip cable attachments... It's the cleanest gym in the valley that I've been to. I had a membership to ZOO Culture before they moved, have been a member at La fitness, and tried a guest pass to 24 (two separate times... the second because they said things improved and to give them another chance)... anyway, Flex has cleaning staff working all the time. And people walking around re-racking weights (although most members are good about doing it themselves). One person said the gym is disgusting and they're afraid to step foot in the shower or steam room... which is just silly. I've showered there numerous times. It's clean. Just bring your own stuff (body wash, shampoo, etc).. and there is no steam room lol there is a sauna. And the sauna is always clean Someone said equipment stays broken for weeks and I have no idea what they're talking about. I train 4-5X/week and don't even know what equipment they're talking about being broken. I think they wrote a comment for the wrong gym, honestly, because nothing they said makes sense. I saw a complaint about the trainer with the orange truck... he's intense, but if you actually talk to him, he's very nice. And always willing to let you work in, if he's using a machine you want to use. If he "takes" a machine you were using, just talk to him. It's possible he didn't know, and it wasn't purposeful I've also seen complaints about the owners, and I've had 0 issues with either of them. Quite the opposite. My nieces left this gym due to creepy trainers. It was unfortunate as it was a nice facility. When she toured the gym, however, creepy make trainers persisted to pressure them into utilizing their services. I would go into further detail but it's gut wrenching to have to think about this. Some aspects of the gym were good and others were pretty bad - especially the management. They won't return my money when I pretty clearly cancelled my membership. I wish they were a bit more understanding, as they are unwilling to return 4 months of gym fees. It's not like there's 10 people demanding refunds, it's one dude and its 4 months worth. It's honestly a drop in the bucket for them, but for the gym goers, it may be a lot. Other than that, I thought the facility is passable. Some of the trainers are a bit creepy so I would think twice to get one if you're a girl. Cute gym, great owners. Unfortunately the trainer MIKE, KELLY and his friends make me and the people I train with extremely uncomfortable. They always watch what we do, and always have something to say. They cuss loudly and argue. It's very unfortunate that I feel uncomfortable coming to the gym to workout without my trainer. Just moved to the area and was nervous that I wouldn't be able to find another gym with likeminded people. I called nearly every gym within a 10 mile radius and Flex Gym was the only one that answered. That's was the first good sign! After getting more info over the phone and finding out this was a private gym, I came in and hit legs so I could check out the vibe. Had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners and shook his hand (strong handshake = man of integrity). Bro was not only there on a Saturday but he was also jacked and tan so you know he's a trustworthy dude. Being used to OC, this place felt like home from day 1. I don't understand the negative reviews here. According to others, it seems like this place stayed open during the plandemic and so clearly the team here are doing the Lord's work. For the people complaining about price, I would happily pay more to weed out the bullshitters. Because I only want to be surrounded by people that piss excellence. Plus, you can't put a price on your health! The 1 thing I would love to see change here are the hours! I work in film and usually have a bizarre schedule so having a 24/7 access system in the future would be sick. Yes, I'm that weirdo deadlifting at 11PM or hitting the boxing bag at 3AM. Absolutely love Flex! I've been going here for about a year and a half and I really enjoy it. There is such a sense of community among the members and staff. My workouts here always put me in a more positive mood. The only downside to this gym is that there are some creepy men who leer at the women, but there are men like that at every gym. Where to begin? I was a member of the previous iteration, The WHAC. The owners were wonderful, it was safe, friendly and free of politics. The new owners are the opposite. As soon as they took over they began making changes for the worst, including doubling the dues. What they did on 3/18/2020 was the last straw. One of the owners posted the most ridiculous diatribe of insurrectionist memes, comments and posts on IG, to the point that their account was scrubbed of the content. It was unhinged. They doubled down on this, as not only did they skirt the covid restrictions, they still don't comply as I have yet to see a mask or any other precautions in place. There are many choices of gyms in the area, and no chance would I give a nickel to these people on principle alone. read more

I hardly leave reviews but felt like I should share my experience with this gym after trying to cancel my membership. I joined Flex because my trainer decided to switch studios and started working out of here. I have a beautiful gym at my building but out of convenience to my trainer, I signed up and began using their facility with him. I signed up on a month to month structure. My trainer decided to abruptly leave the state for personal reasons after 3 or so months, so I canceled my membership with Flex. My auto pay date is on the 2nd of every month, and they require a 30 day notice to cancel. I reached out via email to cancel my membership on Dec 11 of which the owner Amy responded and said she put in the request to her 3rd party who handles billing to cancel my membership but it's possible I might be billed still come Jan 2nd. I had responded and asked her if she would refund me if the charge went through, which she ignored me and never responded. Yesterday, Jan 11th I received a call from someone at Flex saying my card payment didn't work (thankfully). I told them I canceled and they told me they would put a note in the system. I instantly emailed Amy to let her know they attempted to charge my card and I would appreciate if she can confirm my membership has been canceled and I won't be charged moving forward. She responded by copying and pasting her prior email stating that it's a 30 day notice and since I requested cancelation on Dec 11 that my account will be terminated on Jan 11 but since my auto pay is set on Jan 2 I still have to pay even though I've canceled (gave her 21 day notice instead of 30). Her last message to me over email after I explained that I was not planning on paying for an additional month when I have already stopped visiting the facility for a month now can be seen below. "It's a shame you couldn't follow the rules of the contract. If you're not going to pay, then so be it. Thanks for supporting my small business." To me it seems like she took it personal but it's life and things happen. When my trainer left me abruptly I did not take it personal and moved on with things. I'm shocked to get such a reaction from a company who didn't ask me why I was leaving / try to get me to stay. It's not like I used the facility and didn't pay, so being so dramatic over $55 is ridiculous. On top of this all, the place is run down and all the equipment is old. You can go to LA fitness probably for less money and newer equipment. read more

The gym is decent. However there are some pretty bigs negatives. First off the hours are absolutely horrible. If there is any holiday even the most irrelevant ones they will close 8-9 hours early (12:30pm). It's extremely frustrating because a majority of members will not be able to make it before that time. Secondly the gym is very dirty. The bathrooms are dark and have a strong smell of mold. The soap dispenser is extremely rusty and smells like fish. Anytime I leave the gym my hands are literally black from the filth on the weights. The gym is also not well maintained and a lot of equipment is a safety hazard. The bolts that hold the dumbbells together are not tightened and feel like they are about to fall apart. The cable towers will have so much friction they are almost unusable and the staff still won't put some WD40 on it. The trainers at this gym are extremely weird and sometimes creepy. They are also very unprofessional and immature. This is my main gym and I do get good workouts here but I just can't recommend it to other people. Wow. I'm really disappointed at the negative scores given to this gym. Those people clearly are not going to the same gym I am. People: The people and the energy at Flex are exactly what I needed. From the extremely friendly staff to the very encouraging fellow gym goers. This place is for everybody. It's a mix of new-to-gym goers to seasoned veterans. You never feel judged or less than. Ugh. Its just the best. The new owners are really great and sweet too. Equipment: Everything! Somewhere between an LA Fitness and a Zoo culture. They have all the standard equipment you'd want from a commercial gym mixed in with some specialty equipment for lifters. Cleanliness: 10/10. Constant wiping down of equipment by staff. Bathrooms are pristine. Parking: Abundant. The lot is huge and you can always park on the road. Smoothie bar has amazing protein shakes and a fridge full of energy drinks and meal prep. read more

The folks at Flex gym have provided me with a beacon of hope in such a stressful and hard time. I appreciate and applaud their leadership and courage to stay open throughout the pandemic and provide people a place to maintain their bodies and stay healthy. California's guidance in reopening gyms has made very little sense during these times and Flex did not have to continue to provide their members with their gym, but they took it upon themselves to do so anyway. The gym and it's members provide a great environment to get a workout in. Everyone is kind and welcoming, weights are not left off the racks and out of place, and the gym is clean and spacious. Amazing Gym i've been going here for 4 and a half years now (since they opened) and i've experienced watching them grow and expand in great ways. From the amazing owners Amy, Kenny and Tony have always been super nice to me and understanding. They always take tips for the gym in to consideration and put the members before anyone else. I can't say enough good things about Flex! Honestly I've been to a lot of gyms over the years in different states NY, Miami, and LA, and this gym is perfect! They have a big variety of equipment no matter what muscle you are working! The turf area is amazing, no more looking for places in the middle of the gym floor to do lunges or mat work. They constantly have a crew of people cleaning all day everyday. You never find a weight out of place here. Compared to 24hr fitness where you are running around the gym looking for a set of weights. And above everything, it's like a family feeling!! Everyone is so nice and the owners are so welcome and sweet to everyone. I could go on and on about flex gym!! Like every gym flex has their strong points and their weak. Overall if you put aside all the bullshit excuses it's one of the better gyms in the valley. Weights are always reracked, all the members are always super nice and offer to work in with them, and you can ask anyone for help and they will help you. It overall has a great atmosphere and it is a motivating environment for people looking to improve themselves. If you are not one of those people, PLEASE DONT COME HERE. The only minuses of the gym is the steam room took an absolute ridiculous amount of time to fix. And it wasn't even the system that was the issue it was just the god damn door. An absolutely awesome gym for anyone serious about training. been there for well over a year now. Great assortment of equipment, almost every member I have met has been friendly, inspirational and down to earth. Old school feel and I cannot say enough about the owners. They make you feel like you are family. Definitely people going the extra mile. I see so many 1 star reviews from people who are/were fearful of covid and are critical of the owners choice to exercise their constitutional right. Look if you are scared of catching covid then maybe stay at home but don't hate people who do not live in fear by labeling them as irresponsible because they do not agree with you. You want to wear a mask 24/7, awesome. You want to stay 10 feet away from people, more power to you. Some of us feel otherwise. Stop hating. This is a great gym! I'm a personal trainer and I train my clients here at this gym and I've gotta say, ever since the new owners took it over, they have breathed new life into it! They've been fixing it up, cleaning it up, renovating the bathrooms, investing in better equipment, etc. The vibe in this gym is like no other, and that's why I'm proud to train myself and my clients out of here. I have never been at a gym where there's a respectful, friendly and fun culture... although people take their workouts seriously here too! After a year of not being able to workout at the gym because of Covid and the shutdowns, I saw the light at the end of the tunnel when news hit gyms were allowed to re-open with L.A. County's health officer order include: Gyms, fitness centers, yoga and dance studios could open indoors at 10% capacity with masking requirement for all indoor activities. Yes!! I can finally rebuild all of the muscle mass I had maintained for many years of being a member of WHAC and its handful of predecessors way back to Quest (on Erwin) in the mid 1990's. Whenever and wherever the gym moved or changed ownership, I remained a member. Until now. New ownership of WHAC (Woodland Hills Athletic Club) was taken over by Flex Gym right as the pandemic hit and the shutdowns began. I really felt for this new owner as over time, I knew it would be a financial struggle until the doors could open again. Who knew it would last about a year? But I always loved this gym because it was smaller than the mega gyms in the area. When the pandemic was beginning and no one knew anything about the effects of Covid, but we started to hear the warnings, I asked the new owner if I could freeze my membership until we all knew what we were dealing with. Every gym I ever belonged to allowed you to freeze your membership for a short period of time. I was met with a lot of resistance, told my contract stated I couldn't freeze (I never had signed a contract with this new owner) and was told I could cancel my membership and rejoin but would have to pay a higher monthly fee and a first and last month fee, etc... which made no sense. Luckily (or not) the gym was officially shutdown by LA County and they HAD to freeze my membership. To me this was not good customer relations, especially since they were a new owner and I'm sure part of their purchase price was member acquisition. Fast forward to current day, when I went by the gym to see about returning to a regular workout schedule. I wanted to see how they handled allowing 10% capacity.... were there certain slow hours I could go, would I have to sign up for an hour block of workout time? How were they handling sanitizing the equipment? Were people wearing masks while using treadmills, elliptical, etc.. I thought, the front desk would give me a elbow bump or a virtual hug and say "WELCOME BACK!" or some sort of friendly and thankful acknowledgement as people began to return to the gym. Nope. What I got was an attitude. That chip on the shoulder kind of thing. I was told I would have to sign a new membership form and a new monthly price (46% increase), because my old membership "expired" (expired because you couldn't charge me my monthly fee because LA County shut you down?) but since I was a member of the former gym, I got a special rate. I was then shown the new member rate of $80/month. I asked about the new operations due to Covid, masking, etc... the response was "I can't tell you what to do" I found that response to be odd considering we weren't out of the Covid woods just yet. I repeated, "so no mask enforcement?" same response "I can't tell you what to do." I saw a few people enter the gym with no mask. They also have a large black curtain covering the entrance which seems to be used to prevent anyone from seeing how many members are using the gym (more than 10% capacity) and the lack of mask status. I'm not really into the masking but out of consideration for other's concerns, I'm ok with throwing one on when required until this thing blows over. I then saw who I believe to be Amy, the new owner, pass by with no mask and an seemed to be quite irritated. I really got the feeling that this business felt they were more important than their customers. They failed big time with any level of customer relations. It was if they were doing me a favor by letting me workout. I really really wanted to get back in the gym and get rid of my Covid body, just like many others I'm sure, however all of these experiences stated above made my gut say, don't do it. So I didn't. Maybe I'll jump into LA Fitness or 24Hour Fitness for a short time until Flex Gym gets bought out by a new owner because judging by many of the other reviews here, I don't think they will be able to stay in business for very long under the current ownership. read more

I have been going to this gym for about 10 years, each owner prior to these "New" owners was friendly professional, and ran a great gym. When the owners and I first meet I thought they seemed good. Then slowly it changed the atmosphere between the trainers, employees and us customers started to become more and more strained. The new owners start out nice but that changes over time and they literally could care less about you once they have you committed to the gym. They "expired" my membership and then said I had to pay a late fee because when they tried to charge the increased amount it did not go through. ( I know this is illegal but in a pandemic, you are not going to sue someone over 19 dollars a month increase) Unfortunately, you do not have many choices in the area as many gyms have closed down. I don't recommend this gym for serious gym people like myself. The trainers that came with the gym are great but they work now in a strained atmosphere and the new ones are more into Instagramming themselves than their clients. This is no longer a wonderful small gym dedicated to their clientele it's now a stressed atmosphere with people posing or filming each other non-stop and if you are not "body perfect" this may be the worst place to come. And to prove it was not the money but the change of ownership I decided to try equinox down the street which is twice as much but much nicer front desk and helpful employees. read more
