Stopped in for a pit stop on a road trip. Noticed some chicken fingers behind the counter and grabbed a few for the road not knowing what to think. Got on the road and took a bite.... Wow! Amazing! Tender and juicy with a bit of spice. They were some of the best chicken fingers I've had. Breading was a little heavy, but still, delish. Definitely recommend. read more

Where do I begin. The food. Mediocre and the meat and 3 sides is $9. You will not be impressed, what southern truckstop serves canned vegetables and frozen greens? Who? I had the steak and gravy and calling it steak was a push. I have no ideal what is was. It was breaded and covered in brown gravy out of a package. My spouse had roast beef and he swears it was canned roast beef from Hormel. This is the only place for miles around and I see why it stays in business. The trucks are here so I think many like myself will stop and give it a try. I mean if your here and need something to eat, I say yes but if you can wait then by all means do. The corn bread muffin was good. The place is run down and I'll include a picture of the salad bar. Good luck and I won't be back. My husband (truck driver) found this place a few years back. We've gone down there several times and have taken others as well. The food is just wonderful!! The cooks just goes without saying....wonderful!! They are black women but know their way around the kitchen. I enjoy talking to them when I'm down there. Their fried green tomatoes are to write home about. Their Sunday Thanksgiving dinners are too much. We usually take home a lot of food to eat the next day. I'm not big on desserts but my husband thinks they're the best. I would encourage ANYONE to eat there if you want a good, home-cooked meal. Come on people. Just because we are truckdrivers doesn't mean we should have to lie about this crappy place. Came in here for breakfast. The eggs were real small. No wonder they give you 3. The sausages were burnt. The hashbrowns were those pre formed patties you get at McDonald's. The gravy was rather tasteless. I expect much better in the south.. The toast slices were puny sizes and you have to butter it yourself. Also the toast was cold. I think she put the bread in the toaster right off the bat so it was sitting around getting cold for the 20 minutes it took for the rest of the food to come out to me. And then there's the bathroom. Couldn't figure out how to flush the toilet. I pressed a button but nothing happened. So no my fellow truckdrivers this place is crap not worth our time. You might as well go to Country Pride as it actually is much better than this place. read more

Women's restroom: 2 toilets, no walls, no lock. Rough & old; but clean. Restaurant worn looking, apportioned off from convenience store. Truck parking available, limited clean area. No set parking for cars, rather they park wherever they want. read more

We dropped by for the famous fried pies we'd heard about and bought four. Down the road we discover: 1. They have very little fruit. 2. They have a lot of bread around the bit of fruit. 3. The pies were saturated with oil. 4. They were refrigerator cold. No reason to return. read more

Ok so I have been driving back and forth between Memphis and Birmingham for years. There never seems to be anything worthwhile to stop at for a quick bite. Mainly fast food and Huddle House. I have seen this place's signs and have been to Deans BBQ down the street. When you first pull in you will be a little skeptical, but settle in and you will have a solid southern dining experience. If your looking for tofu or a Lite Asian salad...you may want to reconsider. Good service and I left full for less than $10.00. read more

Have you ever seen the movie Super 8? Well when we pulled up in the RV my kids said they thought it was the set of Super 8. The place looked deserted, the lights were flickering, and the interior of the building looked like the ceiling had feel in. There were car washes beside the building that looked like they were storing junk. We arrived late at night after seeing a sign on 78 for the truck stop. The place was closed but the gas pumps were on. I think there should be a sign letting you know the truck stop is not 24 hours as if you are stopping for a bathroom break or snack it would be a wasted stop. There was a real truck stop a few miles south. I think it was a Luvs, go there! read more

I had an apple taco thing here and it was the best apple taco thing (possible only apple taco) in the world. It's a little piece of apple heaven deep fried in angels tears to created a sublimely delicious apple taco. read more
