Recently my partner and I visited the Flinders Ranges and didn't wish to take our BMW on the dirt roads - so optimistically we booked a local 4wd tour. This is something we normally wouldn't do, but not wanting to damage our own car we opted to go with Flinders Experience 4wd Tours on their "combo tour".
We were greeted by Paul the owner at precisely 8.30am as arranged at our accommodation. We immediately warmed to his friendly personality. We were soon travelling on the dirt roads of the Flinders Ranges and were spoilt to see a mob of 20 red kangaroos bounding in unison over the landscape.
Before we knew it we turned onto a dry stony creek bed to start our private property 4wd track stage of the tour which was nothing short of breath taking - 2 hours of amazing views only possible by Paul's talented 4wd driving skills. We felt safe and confident on the steepest of inclines and declines.
We enjoyed a fresh healthy picnic lunch whilst deep within the Brachina Gorge. Another highlight was the yellow footed rock wallabies colony - we were lucky enough to see 10 on this occasion. We also traveled through the Aroona Valley and Bunyeroo Gorge stopping at the spectacular Razorback Lookout.
Our expectations for the day were easily surpassed thanks to Paul's passion of the region coupled with his 15 years local guiding experience.
