I booked a reservation here based on a recommendation from my airbnb host, and could not have been happier. This was easily my favorite meal on my trip to Argentina. My partner and I were the only two eating that night, so we basically had a private tasting menu experience with chef Martin and his wife.
The courses consisted of the following:
Amuse Bouche of roquefort bread
Beets, microgreens, orange, celery, pomegranate, green tea espuma
Braised fennel, juniper gastrique, squash puree, gnocchi
Catch of the day with mojo sauce, pistachio crusted potato and grilled banana
Mussels, cream of sauvignon blanc, apples, chives
Almond, carrot and ricotta tortellini with lemongrass bullion
Bife de chorizo with shallots, humita, caramelized mushrooms
Soft coconut cake with seasonal fruits and lavender cream
Chocolate flan and sesame nougatine
Colombian coffee made from beans harvested on the sous chef's family farm with a biscuit
Overall, the meal was amazing. The food was fresh (whatever was available at the markets that day), and each course consisted of many complex flavors and a variety of textures. My favorite courses were the gnocchi, which were so fluffy and delicious, the catch of the day (can't remember what fish we ate), which had lots of great flavor and was plated beautifully, the mussels (broth was delicious), the bife de chorizo (in Argentina after all), which was actually cooked to a medium rare in contrast to what was served to us at the top parillas, and probably my favorite - the chocolate course. The wine pairings matched really well to the courses, and you can tell a lot of thought is put into the menu. If I return to Buenos Aires, I will definitely return for another meal at Martin's. Also, did I mention that the price is amazing? After all was said and done I think we paid around $60 each for a private tasting menu experience. read more
