I decided to go to Flores Optometry after reading the Yelp reviews and the doctor and team exceeded my expectations. My daughter and and I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Tekie. She is thoughtful, thorough, extremely knowledgeable, and patient. She also has the cutest Minnie Mouse pin and is a Disneyland fan so another reason to love her. She took the time to explain my condition and was fabulous with my teenage daughter. There is a lovely selection of glasses and my daughter's glasses arrived in a week. The staff are warm, friendly and provide amazing support and service. They have a parking lot in the back which makes it extremely convenient. They also follow COVID protocols which puts you at ease. Dr. Flores is a great doctor. I feel very confident in her care. But this would've been a 5 star review if not for one thing. I had a bad experience with Dr. Lidia Tekie. She was condescending & I didn't like the way that she talked to me. Maybe she was having a bad day or something. But I've never forgotten how I felt after seeing her, to this day. Conveniently-located and diversely-staffed optometry office in San Leandro, with lots of parking and Saturday hours and children's optometry. However, in terms of children's optometry services --which is what we went for--Flores Optometry is a mixed bag in how well trained and able they are to provide services for children. The doctors --Dr. Flores and also Dr. Tekie-- are superb! Dr. Tekie was truly wonderful with our son and you can tell she not only has lots of experience but a deep passion for kids' eye health. The staff, on the other hand, didn't seem as prepared to work with kids as one would expect, and I once heard the staff saying how much they disliked working with kids. And believe me, I get it. It is hard to get a kid 4-7 to be uncomfortable for a test, but I do think there's training and tools to help! There is one single staff person who knows how to work with kids--and she often jumps in to help. Wish I could remember her name because she is a gem. They do give a chocolate after every visit, and that is a nice touch especially for the kids. read more

I have been SEEING Flores Optometry for a while now and love them. The staff is all friendly and responsive. I get my annual exam and contacts here and never had issues, even through the pandemic. They have text and email communication if you need to get a hold of someone which is nice. When I do contact pickups, they always leave a small treat in there. It doesn't get more personal than that. Amazing Optometry office! Professional team that welcomes you warmly and works efficiently to get you in and out. I believe the whole team is bilingual as well (Spanish speaking). The office is clean, spacious, and very modern. All their equipment seems very high tech and up to date. Dr. Flores and Dr. Lam are very knowledgeable and took great care of me. AMAAAZZZIING! I've had bad eyes since I was a kid, moved to the Bay 6 YEARS AGO & have not found a good eye dr since my childhood dr... til now! This was my 3rd eye exam this year alone, previously gone to LensCrafters and another private practice optometrist in Castro Valley. Decided to give Flores Optometry a try just because it was listed on my insurance list of providers & they had quick availability. I saw Dr. Tekie. She is SO amazing. EXTREMELY thorough & so friendly. Didn't rush through the eye exam & checked multiple things using multiple machines & different eye drops... the works. Same with the optician & receptionist. So friendly, helpful & patient while I looked through all of the frames afterward. I've finally found my go to optometrist here, I can't believe it's taken so long highly highly recommend. read more

I've been goin to Flores Optometry for about 2 years roughly. Dr Flores is amazing and so is the other optometrist. The staff is always really great and welcoming as well. Probably the best customer service I've ever received and I've been wearing glasses for about 2.5 decades now. I do have some eye issues so it can be a little anxiety-inducing and stressful for me when I go to the eye doctor. However, Flores Optometry feels like a second home. If I ever have any questions or concerns, I feel safe and secure to ask and get honest answers in return. I'd love to shout out Cassandra (I hope I'm spelling your name right). She is always so helpful! I'm a bit indecisive and Cassandra and another employee (I can't remember her name. I think it's Monica?) helped me choose my latest glasses, Tom Ford! . They really helped me narrow it down after I had like 3 Tom Ford pairs I simply could not choose from. Thank you again!! You're the best. Recently, I got a progressive lens in my glasses. They also put them in my sunglasses. Cassandra told me I could bring them back if I didn't like them and they could switch them out, and I dropped off my sunglasses last week. Flores optometry also has a great selection of glasses and some of my favorite brands such as Gucci, Tom Ford, Chloe, etc. I've gotten about 4 pairs from them in the last two years. 2 pairs of glasses and 2 pairs of sunglasses and I get my contacts from them as well. They do a great job abiding by the COVID-19 precautions which gives an extra layer of care and safety as well. Oh and did I mention, they give you chocolates in your bag! Parking: there's a parking lot right behind Flores optometrist and they're also right next door to a parking garage which makes it super convenient and easy if you want to get in and out of downtown San Leandro. read more

I've been coming here for years. I really like Dr. Flores and I've always been satisfied with her office's services and products. It's time for me to get my prescription checked. As this would be the first time coming here without company sponsored vision insurance, I called to ask what the cost of an eye exam is. I was told it was $188. I didn't think about it till after I called but then I remembered I'd just had a very thorough eye exam a few months back at UCSF (due to a medication I'm on). I called back to ask if it's possible to just get an exam for my prescription since I just had a very thorough eye health exam and could bring in the paperwork from that exam. The person I spoke with said she didn't think so. She then listed off all of the different test that would be needed and I told her they had all already been done at UCSF (whose Department of Ophthalmology is one of the top ranked in the country), and I could provide the documentation to verify that. She still replied that she didn't think it would be possible to do just the prescription exam, that I would need to do the full exam, but she would ask one of the doctors and call me back later in the day. I never received a call back. This interaction left me feeling like their getting their $188 for an unnecessary eye exam was more important than accommodating a very valid and reasonable request from a long term customer. Here's the thing. Even though I no longer have vision coverage I still wanted to support this local optometry business. After this interaction I no longer feel the need. Now days, if you don't have vision insurance, there are plenty of places to get an affordable eye exam as well as using that prescription to purchase eyeglasses online. Sure, it may not be as good as the service you get at an optometrist office, but it seems to be a route that many are comfortable taking. read more
