I've been going to Family Focus Optometry for over 10 years, and I wouldn't trust my family's eye care to anyone else. My husband, my children, and I all go here, and we've always had wonderful experiences. They recently moved to a new location. While the outside of the building isn't the greatest, don't let that fool you. Once you step inside, it's the same welcoming, professional office it's always been. All of the doctors are fantastic. My son just had an appointment this week with Dr. Geronimo, and she was amazing with him. She was patient, kind, explained what she was doing, and immediately put my son at ease. It was especially exciting because he was getting his very first pair of glasses! They have a huge selection of frames, so he had a great time picking out the perfect pair. The front desk staff is always friendly and welcoming, the eye exams are thorough, and we've never felt rushed. There's also plenty of parking, which is always a plus. The only minor downside is that the elevators in the building are a bit old, but that's such a small detail compared to the outstanding care you receive. If you're looking for an optometrist who truly cares about their patients, I highly recommend Family Focus Optometry. A little over a year ago I had an eye exam and got new glasses here. The experience was positive. Received my glasses 2 weeks later and everything was smooth. I got some automated reminders from them for my annual exam and also need another pair of glasses. I called probably 6-8 times trying to make an appt. They never answered their phone once. They did return my call 3 times but always when I was in a meeting so left me a message. Their instructions says to call or email for an appt. I can't find an email on their website anywhere. There is a form to submit to contact and did that and never got an email back. I gave up and went somewhere else. New glasses should be ready in a week. I went here a couple of times for myself and had no problem except for frames being high. I had an appointment this morning for my son to get a prescription put in frames I purchased already. This broad asks me if the appointment is for me or him? Um for him that's what I said over the phone and put on his registration on-line. They were pressing me to get him an eye exam but he already has a prescription. Then they tell me he's only eligible for an exam and nothing else until 2027. I just grabbed his prescription paper and left so I wouldn't slap a bitch and go to jail lol. They could've told me this over the phone, had my son late for school for no reason, and wasting both our time. They could've put his lenses in, how is that not covered until next year and my benefits just kicked in? Stupid ass broads, never again. They're lazy and unprofessional. Their new location is stupid too, bitch can't even explain directions. All she had to say is we're in the western dental building on 3rd floor. I absolutely love the ladies here. I've been a client/patient since 2008. Everyone is helpful, cheerful, professional and friendly. Upon request they give you a free Bible. There's one particular doctor I've seen more than the other two. However, she was off the day of availability for me to have my exam. I feel comfortable to be seen by any of the optometrists here. My old glasses were falling apart (my son likes to throw things at my face, and I sometimes bump into walls and glass doors). I went here on 11/26 to order a new pair. My wife recently had a good experience here, and I also went along with her recommendation because this office is fairly close to our house (Lucky is part of the shopping center, and we shop there almost every week). My glasses were ready yesterday (I was told that they would be ready in about 10 business days, but I thought that I would actually be picking them up on Monday). The glasses that my wife ordered earlier were ready pretty quickly too. Yesterday prompted me to give 5 stars (I was initially leaning more toward 4). Sylvia took her time adjusting my new glasses (the frames are flexible, which is both good and bad). She also went over the cleaning procedure well. Finally, my old glasses were fixed (to some degree) WITHOUT me even asking (I didn't speak up on 11/26 either- before yesterday, I had basically given up on my old glasses). I've been coming to Family Focus for the past four years and really love my experience every time. During COVID, they require patients to schedule in advance. Upon entering, they check your temperature, and your mask must be on. Everything is sanitized before a new patient enters or uses a space. I've seen Dr. Pineda multiple times and she is so easy to talk to. Anytime I have a question, I never hesitate to ask. She has even helped me transition from glasses to contacts. Staff members here are professional and treat with you with such respect. Before making any decision with frames or contacts, they walk me through different options and cost factor. I have been coming here for years and just did my annual exam this weekend with Dr. Pineda. I appreciate how they take covid precautions seriously with temperature check, masking, cleaning, and social distancing. Through the years I've also had Dr. Geronimo and Dr. Leong do my exams and they all have been great with the exam. They are helpful, thorough, and I like they work with me to figure out how I want to handle my vision situation by giving me the pros and cons but leaving it to me instead of pressuring me to go a certain way. I have been coming to this establishment since it was Dr. Clifford Wright optometry, which was many moons ago. Sylvia is still here (and still looks EXACTLY the same), and it still feels like home. My entire family comes here and has been for over 20 years! Wow. I recommend not scheduling appointments on Saturdays, or anytime after 4pm, it can get quite busy! "Why are there so many scratches on the right lens of my glasses?" It's time for my annual vision check up (care for your eyes!) and since I just moved up to the Bay Area, I didn't know where to go. My aunt and uncle has been going here to Joanna Leong, O.D. (there are other optometrists but request her). She was very thorough and nice and my exam as done in a half hour with appointment. I even got a copy of the prescription without me asking. A VSP provider, I got my frames covered and the lens cost me about $200 (since I have terribly strong prescription). The entire experience was wonderful. My husband took our 14 year old son in yesterday and he was completely comfortable. The office/store was neat, clean and organized. They had a wonderful selection of frames. Both the doctor and the assistant were kind and professional. They completely made the visit a pleasure. I went there on 6/17/13 around 530pm and as I walked in they immediately asked if I had VSP and a current prescription. I told them that my daughter and I were browsing for frames. The manager Sylvia Chun, asked for my info to check my VSP coverage and verified that I did in fact have coverage. by this time it was around 5:45pm and she explained that they were closing at 6pm. I told her again, that I was just looking at frames. As I asked her to open cases, she stood behind me while I tried each one and telling me her opinion on each frame that I tried on. I didn't like the fact that she was rushing me (even though I was not purchasing anything that day) and invading my personal space. I wanted to look in private and not have her stand right behind me. My daughter was getting the same vibe from her and so we left. I went down the street to Bella Vista and I purchased glasses for myself and prescription glasses for my daughter then. I understand that they were closing at 6pm (I checked before I drove down from Oakland at 5pm from work), but there was no need to rush me. I will not return there and I will not recommend Family Focus Optometry to anyone that I know. read more

I just took my daughter who is autistic for her first exam and they were able to do a very good exam. They took their time and did a great job. I have been going to this office for many years and wouldn't go anywhere else. Even when lived in Fremont, it was worth it to drive for a once of year exam. They always have such wonderful service here, friendly & helpful staff, both doctors are great, and they always have great styles to choose from. Definitely recommend to all my family and friends. She gave me a very thorough eye exam in a little over an hour, along with suggestions for combatting my perpetually dry eyes and plenty of contact lens samples! Was looking for a new optometrist and office and have not been happy with the last two I used. Since this office was very close by to me, did some research and saw that the two doctors specialize in diseases of the eye. I had been having some issues with my right eye, so I was worried and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Geronimo. She patiently answered all of my questions and relieved my fears. The office is well lighted with a nice selection of different and affordable frames unlike some other offices I had looked at. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had to go back today for an adjustment on my new glasses (which I love) and was assisted by Sylvia. She was very professional and patient and got my glasses adjusted perfectly...not sure why anyone gave her a negative review. She is clearly the expert in fittings. Make sure you know your benefit plan before heading in to get glasses or contacts! I am a regular customer at Family Focus Opt. and a VSP plan member. I love Optometrists here and both are very profesional and helpful. The office staff not so much. In October I was asked to pay for 4 boxes of contacts by Sylvia office manager. Who supposedly checked my benefits and found that I had no balance. I knew that I had a balance on my plan however she insisted that the plan only provided a 1 shot deal for lense coverage and since I had been seen earlier in the year January my benefit was used. This statement prooved to be false and a misinterpretation of the benefits that VSP provides. VSP was kind enough to clue me in on my benefit plan. As long as there is a balance the benefit is yours to use, monthly quarterly, 1/2 yearly whatever. I ended up paying $200 out of pocket for lenses in October that should have been covered by my pre-paid healthcare plan, because I allowed an over insistant and rude staff person interpret my benefit plan to me. VSP was good enough to reimburse me but only after a month of haggling. But I would have made a better choice if I would not have been so relient on the office staff to know what they are doing when it comes to my benefit plan.
