If I could give it a zero, I would. The receptionist was great. Apart from her, this was the worst experience I've ever had with any health professional. From the moment I walked into Dr Amiel's office, to the time I left (in tears), I was surprised by his aggressiveness toward me and this was my first time meeting him. Because of his demeanor, aggressive and lack of interest in anything I was saying the entire time, it caused me to have and anxiety attack while still in his office. I came in fine and stable, I left hysterical and it took me a few hours to regroup. read more

I am giving them 2 starts because our initial experience was okay and I also realize they are trying to operate during a pandemic with that being said, I took my son in for individual counseling shortly before the holidays. His first therapist was okay and did an good job of focusing on him as the patient and not me during the assessment. He was an older gentleman and kind of hard for my teenage son to relate to but over all not bad. He quit at the first of the year and transferred him to another therapist which was also older. We requested a younger therapist or someone that specializes in ADHD. He was assigned a new therapist that was extremely overbooked and very difficult to get regular appointments with. Between Jan and March he was only scheduled for 2 sessions when he was previously getting weekly counseling. Then the pandemic happened and his session were moved to Telehealth which did not work so after a lot of back and forth with the front office I was told that he would have a phone session but that never happens. I would get calls from the office stating that the therapist said the phone was going straight to voicemail mail. They had no way off connecting the call if we called into the office. Today I get a bill for $155 for no show fees. I don't see how they can justify charging a no show fee in the middle of a pandemic when they do not have the proper platform in place to provide Telehealth. I understand that this is unprecedented but I think charging clients extra fees during this time is abhorrent practice. read more

Only giving one star because zero is not an option. I ended services here and received a bill for hundreds of dollars. I discussed with office staff and they told me they would reach out to my insurance to find out why I'm not covered. According to my insurance they never heard from their office and as per my plan they are prepared to pay the bill in full. I call the office and leave several messages over the course of months.. instead of responding to me or my insurance they report my unpaid bill to a debt collector which I find out about from my lowered credit score. I then go to their office in person and am greeted with an apology. The woman tells me she will reach out to my insurance and to the credit company/debt collector to have my name cleared. I offered to call them both myself while in the office and she states there is not enough time as she must leave the office. It's now been 2 months and neither the debt collector nor my insurance have heard from their office. They have both left messages (but likely not as many as I have). No one has so much as returned a call... as someone who has worked in the medical field and mental health field I can say without a doubt this is about as abnormal and unprofessional as an office can get. read more

Extremely disappointing experiences. Do not waste your time with this facility. They do not call you back to make appointments or discuss billing issues. I've tried two different counselors both were terrible. The first one talked about herself nonstop and I felt like I was her therapist. The other one spoke to me as though I was a child and her baby voice. It's very concerning people are seeking mental help and unable to receive it because this unprofessional unreliable facility can't provide the service they advertise. read more

They are overstretched. It is almost impossible to get an appointment within two weeks. The billing is all screwed up. For the longest time I was told that no copay was due (although according to my insurance contract there is a $20 copay for each visit). Then all of a sudden I owed $300. My insurance has been billed for appointments that I did not attend and many visits do not show up on the insurance billing. read more

Super unprofessional, really disappointed. I went there to process the death of a close friend who's anniversary was coming up. I went weekly and loved the therapist I found online through them because she was a Christian counselor. Unfortunately, she stopped practicing there so I decided not to continue on with someone else. I showed up for my last session and they said my copay was $60 instead of the regular $20- when I tried discussing it with the lady at the window she was not about it. I told her that amount was ridiculously high and that they could have notified me ahead of time of the change because I wasn't going to pay that for a final session. What she did was charge me a no-show fee of $65 after I left instead of helping me resolve it. Then...they went back and back billed me **FIVE** months worth of copays all at once stating my copay was not the $20 they were collecting weekly, but **$60**. I would have never continued going there had I known and they knew that. This place is really sad. It's almost impossible to get anyone live on the phone. The front desk people are continuously struggling at times leaving people waiting at the window for check in for close to 10 minutes. I don't know how many times I sat in that lobby with others while we waited for someone to come to the front. When I tried to talk to the office manager about the integrity of back billing 5 months worth of WEEKLY $40 difference copays and a no-show fee for an appt I actually showed up for- I got no where. GO ANYWHERE ELSE! If it hadn't been for that therapist I would have split from them sooner. read more

One month ago I was set up with Dr. Curtis here. He was a nice enough person and helped me make adjustments to my medication. After about one month I was to have a recheck but the week before this appointment they called to reschedule. No real problem there except for my prescriptions were going to run out before I could see him again. So I asked if the could run a refill for the main one of my medications (The one with the most severe withdrawal effects) and I was told it was against their policy to do refills for patients who have only seen the doctor once. I ask what I was supposed to do as I am not the one who wanted to change the appointment and was told "sorry we cant help you" then they ask if I wanted to be called when they might know the doctors schedule and I said that I would have to find someone willing to help me maintain my medicines as I would run out before they would be able to see me. Their response was "well you do what you have to do". Their office staff was rude and uncaring to say the least. Obviously they do not genuinely care for their patients well being, all I needed was enough pills so I didn't run out before they could figure out when their doctor was going to decide to work. Do not use this office you may be left sitting on a dangerous forced withdrawal cliff before you know it. read more

My husband has been using this practice since about March of this year. They have been very unhelpful. The doctor would write him a script incorrectly and they wouldn't fix it until his follow up so he has been on again off again on his meds for almost 8 months. Every time we would call the medical assistant would act as a buffer to the doctor who we were never able to speak to directly or indirectly unless we were in the office. The medical assistant would answer the phone sounding as if she was eating, which I witnessed her doing while we were in the office. She was always very rude and acted as if we were bothering her. The doctor he was seeing was inept, and didn't seem to really care or listen to my husband when he was in the office. My husband made me go to several of his appointments with him because he felt like they were not treating him appropriately and not listening to him. The fact that he felt he needed back up to see his doctor is appalling, especially in this sect of the medical field. People who need psychiatric help should not be made to feel even more uncomfortable by the office staff or their doctor. I DO NOT recommend anyone use this place. If you really need help for anxiety or depression find someone else. Find someone else if you need any medication. They don't care about you enough to make sure you stay on your medicine, which can have adverse effects if you suddenly stop certain medications, as well as make them less effective. read more
