Want to give them a 4.5 out of 5 - They certainly deserve it...
"...A 'TRUE GREEK TAVERNA' IN EVERY FABULOUS POSITIVE SENSE OF THE PHRASE ~ JUST OUTSTANDING...!!!"
We've just got back from a VERY MEMORABLE generous and authentic Greek Islands style meal at FLORINA'S GREEK TAVERNA in Glenferrie Road, Malvern...
WOW...!!! Just 'sumptish' and 'delish' - HONEST BIG-HEARTED real food for the DISCERNING NON FAINT-HEARTED real foodie...
Here's what we had:-
-Platter of Tzatziki, Taramasalata and Melitzanasalata Dips with big white Lima Beans, Green Beans, quality Kalamata Olives on the side
-Plate of char-grilled and zesty marinated Red Capsicum
-Platter of floured and deep fried crisp little Whitebait
-Dish of house made Vine Leaf stuffed Dolmathes
-Perfectly grilled slab of Saganaki Cheese
-Basket of warm rustic Country Bread
Then
-Platter of oregano fragrant absolutely delicious boneless Lamb from the Spit
-Platter of succulent beautifully grilled and off the bone Chicken Chops
-Platter of deep-fried floured firm but tender 'FAIR DINKUM' Calamari
-Plate of rustic style Potatoes, Carrots, Zucchini casserole cooked in a home-style Mediterranean tomato sauce
-Bowl of super fresh traditional Greek Salad - Lettuce, Cucumber, Tomato, Red Onion, Kalamata Olives, Greek Feta Cheese and good Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Then
-Traditionally made Greek Coffee [boiled with the sugar] or Black Tea with Milk
-Platter of house made really thick gorgeous Galactoboureko and beautiful Baklava
Okay:
*Family owned and run restaurant
*Traditional Greek Islands style facade, furnishings and decor
*Friendly and efficient staff
*Good wine list with both Aussie and Greek offerings, and not greedily priced
*Good tasting, constantly replenished ICED Water to table
*Super clean, including toilets etc
Standouts:
#Real true calamari...
#Real Greek feta and Greek saganaki cheeses...
#All the meat dishes were served on a bed of sweet crisp sliced white onions as is customary in the Greek Isles...
#Such generous servings - just like in a Greek home - so known for their hospitality...
Anyway:
We were treated to all of the above for $98.00 [2 x $49 Cudo Vouchers] plus an extra $13 for a Basket of just fried Pita Bread and a Jug Soft Drink for the boys.
Voucher says '$116 Value for $49' - WELL, TAKE IT FROM ME... IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FABULOUS... EVEN AT $232...
[I think the deal is still current - FFS get yourself an early Chrissy prezzy..]
Thank you to Florina's and Cudo for an unbelievably YUM bargain...!!!
