While strolling through Frisco Fresh Market I happened upon this macaron shop. I love macarons, but…read moredon't eat them as much due to following a mostly vegan diet. However, I decided to give them a go due the the unique flavors on the menu. Luckily for me the owner had a sample of every flavor and I was able to try each one before I committed to buying them. I felt like one of the kids in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory as I experienced each flavor! The flavors were actually pretty good and did not leave a bitter aftertaste; I was sold and proceeded to purchase a dozen of them. Some of my favorite flavors are: cinnamon roll, lemon, cherry almond, butter pecan, frosted animal cookie, and blueberry cheesecake! She has over 100 flavors that she rotates through. I cannot wait to try out some of the other flavors that she has in her rotation. I love supporting local businesses and was thrilled to find out she operates the business with her husband! They are definitely a talented pair, their flavors are unique and delicious! The macarons are very well decorated and presented individually wrapped for sharing! So if you find yourself strolling through Frisco Farmer's Market stop by and try them for yourself, cheers!

I had the idea they were in the Dallas area, but they are actually in Denton. Perhaps my fault for not examining closer. I followed the "steps" to get my $24 credit for macarons and the. Followed the steps to order twelve macarons. I selected one option and decided to see how much it would be to ship since I live and work 45 minutes from Denton and they quoted me $31!!! That's almost three times what I paid for the groupon. I decided to do the drive to Denton and the house (home based business). When I arrived a man answered the door and handed me a dozen variety pack of macarons. I told him that was not what I ordered and he said, "that's what she usually gives - a selection. I was not impressed because I had a specific order and was told it would be ready for pickup in 24 hours. They knew what time I was coming as I informed them. I smiled and said thank you and took the macarons because I thought the variety might be nice, but it wasn't what I ordered. I think they didn't want to take the time to make my order and just filled the order with what they had already baked. Bottom line- I brought the macarons home and my husband and I polished them off- they were very tasty. I didn't like one of the four flavors in there so my husband ate those three. If I lived in Denton I might use them again-- if I received a promise to fulfill MY order.

Square top peninsula bar to the left as you walk in and lounge area sofas and arm chairs to sit in groups to the right. Place is clean and just FYI it has one unisex bathroom and the place opens at 7 PM. This Friday night featured an appetizer menu, what I will call a munchies menu of tacos made by another vendor, and bottle cap bingo of all things. I tried the pecan bourbon old fashioned ($13) and found it to be good. I try to limit the add-ins somewhat and so I just stuck with Buffalo Trace on a large rock for the rest of the night. My wife had several mixed drinks that were in the $12 range. Matthias came up with a drink that was, per my wife, "sweet and strong." I thought maybe she was thinking of me when she ordered but she nixed that idea pretty quickly....LOL Mini-charcuterie ($12) I thought left something to be desired. Beef jerky added with just a toothpick of cured meats. Not sure how they fit three different types on there but they did and it was just enough to make you want more. Cheeses seemed to be basic run of the mill diced. Per my wife it was ok, but she would probably pass on ordering it again. It's not meant as an entree to be fair and there is a good portion as a whole, but just overly simple and a little light on proteins. I'd cut down the cheese and double the toothpick, also 86 that jerky stuff and probably have a decent plate. Maybe even through a couple extra strawberries on there. Two sisters sitting next to us ordered the artichoke and spinach dip. They said the dip was fine but the baguettes were way over-toasted (i.e. too dry) and that seems like an easy fix. Later in the evening during bingo I tried a couple of tacos. They are brought in and stored, reheated when ordered. Unfortunately it seems like it as the flour tortillas are quite soft and it just doesn't come out fresh. The relleno burrito is just a relleno wrapped in a flour tortilla; the potato and chorizo had my wife's approval and mine as well. Laura runs a good bar over there, and some of you may remember her from Torchy's down the road. Fair pours and prices commensurate for around the area. Bingo runs pretty quickly, even the blackouts and the organizer had a plinko game a la price is right style. Was a fun run down memory lane for me. In a bit of irony, we never ordered dessert, which is the main focus of this business during the week. The samples I saw looked pretty good and it seems like the bar is just a way to make use of the space off bakery hours which I can appreciate. To me though they are nearing that price range where I'd expect a little better from the kitchen for appetizers. About $120 was the overall tab which we capped with a 25% tip. Went home after having a good time but just felt they fell short on the food.

It felt like a true neighborhood spot--warm, familiar, and thoughtful. But this year, not even a "Happy Mother's Day" in sight. It may seem small, but it speaks volumes about the shift in atmosphere since the new ownership. Service feels more distant now, less like a community hub and more transactional. The new owner is courteous, but the inviting energy is gone. The food is still good, but I deeply miss the quiche--crafted with love and skill by the previous pastry chef. It was a standout and irreplaceable. Bread is made more often now, which is nice in theory, but consistency has slipped. My last loaf was disappointingly hard around the edges. This isn't a harsh critique--it's hopeful. I'd love to see some of the old heart and hospitality return. It made all the difference.

This was my first time to visit, and one of the young ladies went over some of the things they offer. They have a beautiful display of macarons, which was simply stunning. My choices: Pistachio (2), Honey & Lavender, Lemon, Almond, Italian Cream - My goodness, they were so good. The moment you bit into each one, you knew exactly what it was. You could be wearing a blindfold and would still be able to identify the flavors; they didn't miss a beat. In particular, the almond and pistachio were my favorites. The small bits of nuts added to the tasty bliss. They also have macaron ice cream sandwiches/ice cream; they all looked so good. My friend had the buttered pecan sandwich; you could see the chunks of pecans in the ice cream, which reminded me of pralines. I wanted to buy one to take home, but it would have been a puddle of ice cream by the time I made it home. What a wonderful little shop, I hope they build one closer to the mid-cities, having a closer location would be a gem.
