The pastor was incredibly nice and very interested in my story as to what brought me to the church. A really nice usher walked me to my seat. She prayed over me. It was an incredibly beautiful prayer. The music was so well done. I knew all the songs and it made me feel happy that I had chosen this church. The pastor preached right from the Bible he was great. When the service was over, again someone met me as I was walking out and invited me over to the information booth. I look forward to going back. I watched about 3 sermons online about Galatians and went to visit Sunday at 8:30. It was easy to get in and we were greeted and ushered. Worship was fine but I didn't know the songs so I spent a lot of time reading the lyrics. The sermon is the most important part of a church service to me, and I found the pastor's sermon on Judging not Lest ye be Judged to be subtle and good. I had many questions, because in that same sermon he told the congregation not to model ourselves after hollywood marriages, that children shouldn't be asked what they want to eat for dinner at the grocery store (rather the parent should lead), and talked about not throwing your pearls before swine, so discernment and judgment ate different. Overall an interesting topic! Left me with a lot of questions though. I think a church can never be 4 or 5 stars until it's very clear how to plug in to activities and it's clear that new attendees are welcome. The announcements section that Sunday didn't have an invitation that I remember to plug into any new attendee events. A simple "raise your hand if this is your first time here" or something like that would be recommendable in my opinion. Looking forward to coming back! Thank you for opening your doors to the community! I like that there is a meeting at The Enclave as well. I think moving the Food Truck Fellowship event from Calvary Life to The Enclave might help bring in new attendees.

Finally--a real biblical church that doesn't shut down or back down: CHRISTIAN WARRIORS, rise up at…read moreRestoration Life Christian Church! In this messed-up world getting darker every day, without Christians shining as the light, nobody sees real hope or truth. Jesus said it straight: "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden... let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:14-16). We're called to be salt and light--not sitting quiet, but bold. Christianity ain't just some peaceful religion; we serve a God who's a warrior for justice. "The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is His name" (Exodus 15:3). We fight spiritual battles, not flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12), and we're geared up to stand firm. Life is sacred from the jump--pro-life is straight Bible. God forms us in the womb: "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb... Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me" (Psalm 139:13-16). He hates innocent blood shed (Proverbs 6:16-17), and tells us to rescue those headed to death (Proverbs 24:11-12). Restoration Life Christian Church is a blazing light right here in Los Angeles--modern Sodom--refusing to bow to the darkness. Shoutout to the warriors there proclaiming truth unashamed! What a blessing to be attending this wonderful church since 1998 with my husband. While we were…read moresearching for a home in 1998 we were also praying for a church. Little did we know God blessed us with one literally right next door to our new home. We are so thankful to Gardena Valley Baptist Church, the pastors, staff and the children's ministry. The children's ministry have played a huge part in helping shaped our daughters lives from when they were infants to now (last year in high school). As parents it's so important to have a community that's there for support and partnering with us parents to help raise our future generations in the Lord. Our church has expanded and we've seen many changes throughout the years but one thing is certain, our God is moving mightily in our church. He is moving in the hearts of His people. We pray for revival not just in our church but for all over the world. May we pray to have eyes to see, ears to hear and hearts to obey. May we as congregation be a church that love and serve others just as Christ loved us. May we seek and surrender to God's will in our lives. May we partner with the Holy Spirit allowing him to teach, lead and guide us each day to live in obedience as well as sharing the gospel boldly with those he's put in our paths. If you are reading this review and would like more information about our wonderful church please feel free to reach out! I don't believe in accident, God has a beautiful way of bringing his people together.

I am so grateful to be able to call Gardena Valley Baptist my home church. Recently, Pastor Daniel…read moreMatsuda was installed as our new senior pastor. His vision for helping our congregation change from the inside out is making a difference in the lives of people in our congregation. Rather than having individuals just focus on changing behaviors or to do "good works", he is encouraging us to spend daily quality time with God, reading His Word and talking with Him. The overflow of that deepening, intimate relationship and love for God is the impetus for wanting to please Him and to live out our faith. We are so blessed to not only have a pastoral staff who inspire us through wonderful Biblical teaching, but who encourage us to use our spiritual gifts to serve one another and work together with us to build up the body of Christ. Whatever your life stage, this is a place where you can find connection and support. We are so fortunate to be an intergenerational church. The older generation have great wisdom and experience to share with those younger and the younger have new ideas and energy to benefit the body at GVBC. They have an excellent Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry, a growing College/Young adult group, and Women's Ministry. Their Re-Engage program supports married couples whether you are newly married or have been married for a long time. They also offer community small groups for all life stages that meet weekly to learn together as well as to get prayer and support. (These are key opportunities to translate what we hear on Sunday mornings into how we live our everyday lives at home, at school, with our families, friends and at church). GVBC does their best to balance nurturing their church family while also not forgetting to focus outward as well. They try to share God's love by doing outreach and loving their local community as well as supporting those who are doing the same thing overseas. The "Fun with Friends" or the "Prime Timers" (senior) group utilize their gift of hospitality to plan social events where you can meet new people and can invite your friends to have fun and do the same. GVBC is not a perfect church because a perfect church does not exist. We are imperfect people, who are redeemed by God's incredible grace and mercy, and empowered by His Spirit to share that love with others. We make mistakes, but hopefully, we can learn from them, and then humbly move forward.
