Getting here by train, brought us into the lower floor at the terminal. We were able to get thru security with ease and get to our gat with plenty of time. We had our last meal in Germany here and found the food to be quite good. I hope we travel thru again someday read more

I just transited through this airport and I thought everything was on par with other good airports around Europe. Everything was clean, the bathrooms were clean and accessible, and the shops were open. I wouldn't have an issue transiting through this terminal again. read more

This is a great airport. very well planned and thought out. Wonderful restaurants, shopping and very organized and clean. The airport is a bit far from the city for my liking and there always seems to be an issue with the train so while I love this airport it has given me a lot of grief. The biggest plus to this terminal is the proximity of parking to the gates. The rest is just ordinary. It's a crowded terminal with long waits to clear security, check in and because it is broken into sections a distinct lack of shopping and dining options. Every other airline besides star alliance fly from here and some days people are packed in like a tin of sardines here ;-)) Most of the shopping options are before you clear security and if you are thinking of spending some time looking around you might be disappointed. There is also a bit of construction going on at this terminal so check the signs carefully. Baggage handling can also be slow at certain times and mornings can be quite busy with a ton of planes arriving. I use this terminal because I have to :-) read more

Terminal 1 is very already out. It's long. If you have to connect from terminal 1 to 2, and likewise from 2 to 1 give yourself lots of time. It's also pretty dated, and very "cold" looking. One doesn't get a warm and fuzzy feel from the place. Also where the underground shopping and the subway/rental car stuff is, is poorly laid out. There are also homeless walking around and searching the trash. Frankfurt is a mess, but I think this place is worse. Germany could do so much better. Terminal 2 is somewhat better, but you have to make the big walk to get there. Also there is a serious lack of charging / wall sockets. Also they are skimpy on seats in the terminal, when you get past to the gate it gets better for seating, but still no charging options. Make sure to bring a battery backup. read more

Very confusing terminal... Took me quite some time to get through T1 to find my gate as they have you up, down, and sideways to finally make it into the terminal with all the gates. Once you figure that out it is your standard terminal with many amenities and chachkies. I've seen others mention that T2 is a much more reliable and easier to navigate terminal, but is mostly reserved for Lufthansa, oh well! At least I made my flight and I am aware of how this terminal flow works for my next visit. read more

Good airport, very big & modern, maybes little too big for my liking as I I always prefer small airports, so much easier to get to the gates. But the larger one like this has more shops & food offerings. One thing I noticed that I actually miss Amercan junk food when travel in Europe, I should be ashamed but it's true, After 10 days in Germany, all I wanted at airport was good old McDonald's but they don;t have it. They should have more McDonald's and Burger King!!! read more

I've seen worse terminal in my life and this could be rated 4 stars in some countries but considering we are in Munich and this is the main terminal for Airlines not Lufthansa I think we cannot score it more than 3. The shops and food offer is just acceptable and replay poor compared with T2 and the area out of the terminals. The boarding via fingers and number of seats per gate are good and positive aspects but a refurbishment will help for sure to gain one or two stars. read more

5 star for this airport for the fact that they have everything open and avaliable on the hardest day to find any store or food place open - Christmas day and after Christmas day (25th & 26th) ! It might sounded like a silly reason to give 5 stars rating, but when you are from a different country and staying in airbnb with no grocery open around you and found out McDonald's are pretty much your only options. Unlike many other countries, they literally have everything closed on those 2 days. You will find yourselves in heaven when you see a fully functioning grocery stores and a fairly large Christmas market with ice skating rink. (Especially after 1 full day of wondering in heart of town on the street with nothing open and on your vacation time, and had literal two meals of McDonald's in the same day, never again) At first I thought I am going to pay premium prices for this setting, and yet prices and if not better than what's out in the town are asking for. Even the grocery store is charging normal prices (for the fact it is in the airport). They have really good food too, had crepes, mulled wine, bought wood crafted gift, some unique chocolate made screws and hammer ( interesting right?) Just spent a day shopping in the airport after. Never knew I would be happy spending a day in airport after Christmas. read more

Munich airport is easy to access by train, from the Munich central train station, line s8 will take you to the airport. If the train breaks down, like it did for us, get out of the train when everyone does with suitcaSes and wait for a bus to the terminal. The Germans are very efficient and buses arrived quickly and then it was just a Short walk in the airport to find the right check in counters. If you are lost, go to one of the information screens and a real customer service representative will answer your questions in English. And you are literally helped within seconds. Beats waiting in a queue. Our flight left on time and there were clear screens pointing us to our boarding gate. If you are starving, eat before you go through security screening on terminal 1 as there are only two restaurants inside. One is italian (no more pizza please) and the other sells paninis, beer from haufbrauhas, one or two types of salads, and sausages. Duty free shopping again is limited inside. read more

So I'm giving this place a super low rating because of the lack of food options once you've passed security control. There is one cafe, which is extremely overpriced and the food on offer is average at best. Aside from the cage, there's three shops, a smoking lounge and that's your lot! This makes passing the time extremely hard and means you're in for a boring old wait, if you get delayed, like I did... Next time I'll be stocking on food pre airport arrival and will be arming myself with plenty of magazines to pass the time! read more

This is not the most fun you can have on an Airport. There is a small variety of places to eat and drink outside the security Control but once you have passed it its even worse. A couple of the typical Airport stores behind the security Control with liquor, perfume and some local sausages. Thats about it. Not a lot of seats so when it gets crowded you have to sit on the floor in wait of your flight to board. Not a german favourite. read more

It's perhaps a strange thing to say, but I'm a big fan of Munich airport. For work reasons, I've been visiting this airport for decades and I'm always delighted to land here: from the modern light installation that joins the terminals, to the cute beer and pretzel bars, it's never a problem if you have to spend some time here. The shops are also excellent and the staff is friendly. Once through security, the gate area could do with a second dining option. There are always big queues at the cash tils and the food options are limited. To be honest though if you're looking to grab your last glass of Erdinger before leaving Bavaria it always hits the spot. Recommended! read more

Ok, terminal 1 is confusing and much much busier than Terminal 2 based on my two trip experiences. Flying back to Atlanta via Delta. For some reason, could not check in on line so had to come to airport for check in. The check in counters are located in B area while the security check and passport control are in C. Not short way to walk. There were long lines either at security check or passport control around 9-10:30am weekend. Have extra security check once passed the passport control. I arrived at the airport about 1 hour and 45 minutes before departure time and felt very tight and rush. It took me about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get everything checked and arrived at gate for boarding. Would suggest leave more time if travel through Terminal 1. read more

Terminal 1 is badly structured, there are too few signs, finding a restroom can mean a long walk up and Dow stairs - if you have a choice, don't do it! Terminal 2 is sooo much better!!! read more

Very large airport, but easy to navigate. If you fly internationally, be sure to take at least a couple of hours because it can get crowded. Plenty of restaurants and places to eat inside the terminal. I prefer this airport to Frankfurt. read more

One of the best airports I have been to. Lost one star because the bathroom signs were very misleading - saying that it would be the next right but it was further. They provide complimentary coffee, teas, and newspapers for all guests - which is awesome. The terminals were organized and lots of stores to keep you busy if you're waiting for a flight. read more

Bad. Wait in line then another and then another. No organization and people pushing when THEY were late. No personnel around to manage. Get to airport 4-5 hours early... they will close lines and shift people regardless of lines... read more

Absolute nightmare of an airport. No one has a clue what's going on. We had our passports stamped twice and had to go through 7 different police officers. Kept getting locked in different areas, no AC upstairs. We just wanted to grab a bite before our flight (in terminal A) in terminal B, but after 2 hours of walking around and countless pointless conversations, we gave up, otherwise we would have missed our flights. Horrendously managed, nice staff. read more
