The help and service outstanding. We Got here and we needed to layover. I am coming with my mom and the help came quick to carry my mom to the other gate. The best thing ever. I had to go with her and get the service she gets. This is a huge airport so it was far from where we landed to where the next gate was. We had to go through a security check point and then we were all good to go to the next flight. The lady who help my mom was absolutely amazing. As many airports in US they have plenty of things to see and to eat. Stores everywhere you see and also coffee shops. First time here and I am impressed of the way they recicle the towels in the bathroom and the way the toilets are. They care about conserving resources. I am happy i got to see this. read more

This is a pleasant terminal for connecting flights within Europe. Signage is very good. My only problem is the walking disrtance within the terminal to reach the train to get to a connecting flight going outside the Schengen area. read more

This Munich airport is huge. The gate , terminal and transportation locations are very systemically arranged and easy instructions. There are lots of cafe's restaurants and duty free shops. The restrooms are clean and so eco friendly. Loved their two authentication process of checking passengers. Overall, very good airport. Make sure if you are in Munich city allow yourself 3 hours before the flight because it takes 45 mins to get here . read more

The Munich Airport is modern, clean, and easy to navigate if you read the signs. The layout is a little wonky with terminals being far from each other. Sadly, the three Priority Pass lounges aren't very accessible if you're flying out of the G, H, J, K, and L gates, but alas. Restrooms are clean and reusable cloth wipes are used to help save the planet. The Wi-Fi is strong and reliable. There are outlets everywhere. read more

I am writing to express my serious concern regarding the behavior of certain security personnel at Munic Airport May 13, 2025, specifically at Line 7 during the early afternoon shift. A female security officer working that line (badge ID 3380982, name partially known as Frau Ga...) treated business class passengers with an infant in an extremely disrespectful and aggressive manner. She loudly and rudely demanded that the parents put the baby down, which caused the infant to start crying. Her tone and behavior were entirely inappropriate, showing a complete lack of empathy and professionalism. During the security check with a handheld scanner, the officer came uncomfortably close to the mother, displayed hostile and aggressive behavior, and spoke in an intimidating tone. She loudly stated that she "doesn't have to be polite," and made a deliberate effort to assert dominance over the woman, who was holding a child in her arms. This caused significant distress to the passenger and the baby. Assuming the passengers don't speak German she continued to complain to her male colleague that were having the same behavior using the words along the lines of: Schlampe, Zicke, Miststück, etcetera. A middle-aged male colleague supported her behavior and acted in a similarly inappropriate manner. When I attempted to address the issue, their supervisor, Mr.Her Adamczyk, was uncooperative. Rather than addressing the misconduct, he appeared to protect the officer (badge ID 3380982, name partially known as Frau Ga...). He also refused to provide either his or her full name, which raises further concerns about transparency and accountability. This experience was unacceptable and reflects poorly on the professionalism of your staff. I request a formal review of this incident and appropriate action to ensure respectful treatment of all passengers in the future--especially those traveling with children. We will not stop till all the highest authorities react and fire the woman, and her colleagues male security, (refused to provide The Name), reports will be sent to every agency overlooking the airport. Since they can't treat normal passengers, customers, people like criminals! read more

I had a loooong layover here so I got to walk around check out this terminal big time. The terminal is clean, modern, with many restrooms (also big and clean) and water fountains. The rest areas are still noisy, although nicely designed, but not super comfy. Food is pricey and choices are very limted, and stores close at 4 pm, a tad too early. Decent Wifi and they start to send you emails after your trip! I wish they would announce the gates number sooner so you won't run through the airport at the last minute even if you were there for hours. read more

First time flying through, and I do love this airport! Easy to navigate, clean... Although it's hard to find a place to fill your water bottle, that's a small detail. Good food inside the airport, although it's a tad expensive. Go through customs and walk just outside the airport, and go to the beer garden. Inexpensive and great food. Very clean and modern, well laid out. Not as many concessions as US Airports About two weeks ago on March 18th and again on the 27th, had occasion to spend some time at the Munich Airport while flying from Charlotte NC to Tel Aviv via Munich. Lufthansa all the way. Munich Airport is very modern and very spacious but both times we came through, they were have problems with the horizontal escalators or people movers so a bit of walking. Somewhat different from US Airports. Here the focus is on moving people so very few concessions and a minimum of restaurants. In the US, Concessions and Restaurants are used to generate revenue to help pay for the terminal so much more commercial. Did manages to try a couple of early morning coffee shops and the coffee was delicious. While few, other shops cater to the traveler. A couple of weeks ago, I had read about some Airports had opened up places where you could grab a quick nap on your layovers and this is one of them. Interesting concept. read more

Before heading to your gate on the L Level of terminal 2, get lunch or snacks somewhere else. There is only one restaurant option with really long lines and the Duty Free is closed as well. If you want to go to the level below, which you can see through this lovely window, you have to go through passport control to get down and then plan enough time to go through again to come back up. If you're traveling to Munich or stopping in Munich for other destinations, you have to take in the vastness of this structure. It's one of the larger airports I have been to and the most modern. They have all kinds of stores/shops here. There is a barbershop, supermarket, great dining areas, even a pharmacy. The place is spotless and the staff is very friendly. Visit the city if it's in your schedule. read more

I'm impressed. Airports aren't necessarily a place you race to review, at least I don't. But this airport is different. From the open air space with a bier garden to the light infused atrium like glass lined structures, this modern airport exudes human centric design. It's German bauhaus meets eu light requirement regulations meets efficient 'form follow function' design at its finest. (Yes it's that good). So be sure to stop and take note that an intersection of pleasing aesthetics and efficient functions can indeed exist -at an airport-. Insider tip- there are water bottle refill stations near the gate. Don't feel compelled to fill your stainless or bpa free water bottle from the warm taps in the bathroom. And of course: no coins needed to take a wee in the Flughof. read more

One of my favorite airports in Europe. Don't hate me but the terminals are easy to navigate the signage is better than many airports and I've always had great help and a friendly smile. Plenty of foodie and shopping options even in the departure to the US gate areas. There's a great coffee, food and beer/Wine bar inside the area too. Its like they knew me! If you have a choice on connecting airports on the continent, this is a keeper. read more

As far as airports are concerned this is a world class airport. How many airports can you drive right in front off and be less than 30meter from the check in desk ? They even have a priority check in outside where you can pull up and drop off your bags and check in. Inside is also very nice and functional with plenty of security gates that move you through quickly. Plenty of shopping and dining options throughout the terminal. It's really a nice terminal and well laid out and spacious. I often fly out of here and getting in and out is easy. read more

The Munich airport has been improving their airport over the last few years. I have been to this airport every year for the last 3 years. The Munich airport has 2 main terminals. Terminal 2 is the main terminal through which Lufthansa and all the main airlines arrive and depart. The airport is very nice with an excellent duty free area along with Lufthansa lounges in every area which you can use. We were able to use one of the lounges through the Platinum Amex card. One of the best things about Munich airport is that they have a small supermarket in the arrivals area along with excellent food options. On our recent trip we arrived in Munich at 730pm and were able to eat at Oliva restaurant which had halal food available. 5 stars all the way. One of the better airports I have travelled through and think they will keep improving and getting better. read more

Airport facilities are nice, but customer service is borderline criminal and possibly racist. VAT tax refund process is a maze of unnecessary complexity designed to deny it by running out the clock before your flight (more info in next review). It is telling that most negative complaints about MUC are about customer service, and most of those complaints seem to be from minorities. On Saturday, 21 January 2023 at around 9 AM, my wife, a Korean-American, went to the MUC airport Information Desk in Terminal 2, where she asked how to get to the Global Blue tax refund office (more on that below). The German woman on duty there immediately started rudely and condescendingly interrogating my wife about where she was going, did she have the items and receipts, what luggage did she have, how many items, etc. This at a basic INFO booth, not the Customs office. All the Info booth woman had to do was provide directions, jeez. There was an exchange between them after my wife told her she would not tolerate being disrespected. The woman came out of the info booth to yell at my wife, and that is when I became aware of the situation and got involved. I asked the Info rep for her name and she refused. I asked for her customer rep number and she refused. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she refused. So I told her if she will not give me any information I would take a picture of her booth so MUC can find her for accountability of her actions (see pictures below of the Information booth in front of a BMW race car in Terminal 2). She immediately threatened to call the police and that I would go to jail. Now we have a plane to catch but after checking bags, I found the roaming Polizei and brought them down to the booth. She suddenly seemed surprised. She told her fairy tale about how my wife had been rude to HER after she "helpfully" gave my wife the info she sought. Yeah right. I told the Polizei that made no sense, why would my wife have been so upset if the Info rep had been courteous and provided directions as expected at an INFO BOOTH? The rep saw that things were not going her way with the Polizei, and suddenly the rep said she could call her supervisor. Oh thank you Ms. Info Booth Customer Rep! Only took me to bring the Polizei down AFTER I previously asked her to call her supervisor before I checked bags, which she previously refused to do. I waited for her supervisor and he went into the booth and got her side - same fairy tale. I explained what happened and the supervisor - a man with a beard - was not very helpful. I asked for his name or customer rep number and he refused. I asked to speak with HIS supervisor and he refused, saying he has no supervisor. Yeah right. I asked to file a formal complaint and he said I was already doing so verbally with him. I told him I wanted to file a WRITTEN complaint in a formal IT system and he said he would do so himself. Yeah right. He kept saying the Info Rep was one of his best and maybe she had a bad day. So I did not get the warm and fuzzy that any accountability will occur. I got home and looked for the MUC complaint system online and lo and behold - there is none that I can find. I will continue to look and will be heard by MUC. I served in the US Army protecting Germany for 3.5 years and am severely disappointed at this treatment. My wife lived in Germany with me so we are savvy about the German culture - and this experience falls well below our expectations of German customer service. read more

Terminal 2 is the international terminal in Munich and I have to say I was quite impressed with how quick, efficient, and clean the terminal is. From deboarding our plane, to making our way to the tram, picking up our bags from the baggage claim and exiting the airport. I have to say it was probably record timing for me from getting off a plane and out of the terminal in record time. Not sure if it was because we had stopped in Warsaw prior to getting to Munich but during the layover we had to go through immigration there which was a breeze. But landing in Munich, there was no need to go thru customs or security again since our passports were stamped in Warsaw. Anyways, plenty of duty free stores to kill time and overall very easy to navigate around. I'd fly through again. 'Til next time, cheers! 264/365 read more

This terminal reminds you that infrastructure in the U.S. Is absolutely awful. The building itself has simple, stark architecture that is nice and bright. Shopping opportunities are plentiful and there is a good pharmacy if you have forgotten things like your toothbrush, dental floss or headache medication. Dining options are varied and very good especially for breakfast, which is really appreciated after a long flight. One of they things I loved most about this airport is the consideration they have given to seating options. There are numerous types near the gates AND there are actually enough of them for passengers. For examples, there are dining tables, regular rows and even loungers in case you need to take a nap. In addition, there is a lounge area where you can have a quiet respite for a bit. There is an internet station with computers and a Nespresso station for a modest fee, all near the gate. Sing it now, "I'm In Heaven...." Bathrooms are clean and available in multiples areas. Munich, you are now one of my faves. read more

I've connected through Munich more times than I can remember but never landed via this airport. I have to say if you are connecting onward to another destination this airport is pretty easy and straightforward to navigate. Not to mention it didn't seem like I had these long as heck terminals to walk through like I did in Brussels. Passport control is always quick and efficient even if there is a bit of a line they seem to move fairly quickly. They have a tram to move you from one section of the airport to another although for this trip it was take the tram and then go up a few escalators to make it to Terminal 2. Luckily even with the walking we had enough time to sit down and have a proper meal, use the facilities, and stroll back over to our gate. They have these cute Nespresso stands located within the terminal and although they're not free price wise still pretty decent if you need a caffeine boost. I have to say I'd rather connect through here again versus going through Brussels. read more

First, Lufthansa is one of the best airlines ever so if you can fly them, do it. Spring for it! Trust me, they are the fantastic. Emirates good? Perhaps not, but AA/United/Delta? Way better. Generally speaking, I found this airport to have a lot of natural light, a ton of space (the galleries were very wide) and they had a considerable amount of dining options. As far as shopping was concerned, it mimicked Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and I'm not kidding. Any designer you can think of was pretty much featured. I also found getting through security and navigating the airport was very manageable. The flow of everything was better than at US airports. Oh and there are seats galore! We were fortunate enough to be flying Lufthansa so we ended up spending a few hours in terminal 2. It was the cleanest, most well maintained airport I've been in. I was thoroughly impressed. It definitely gave SFO a run for it's money, and I love that airport as well. The duty free store was humongous and loaded with European chocolates to stock up on. The prices, like any airport, were high but they had everything you could need. I ordered my husband a Weiss beer at one of the restaurants within and it was just as fresh and delicious as any biergarten I'd been to in Munchen. I was really impressed- not the tiniest bit flat. read more

Pretty straight forward to get through to your gate. I was told by Lufthansa Airlines to allocate 3 hours prior to flight time to get through the 2 securities, etc. Oddly enough my gate changed from an H gate to an L gate between 7 pm and then 7 am the next morning. Good thing I took the time to double check it since the L gates are in the Terminal 2 satellite location. To get there you go down an escalator, go on a short tram ride, then go up at least 2, if not 3 (for L gates) escalators. I am not much of an international traveler (at least not yet :)), but I found it odd I was asked several times where I came from (prior to Munich) and how long? I didn't know what was meant by how long? But apparently they were asking how long I was there. Guess if it wasn't long enough maybe they would encourage me to stay longer? :) Either way, I found this terminal to be clean, efficient and very "bright". I hung out in the Lufthansa lounge which had a nice variety of snacks/drinks. That wonderful espresso/cafe latte/cappuccino magical machine was there too, so it kept me pretty happy while I waited several hours for my flight :). read more

Excellent airport terminal, one of the better ones I have seen in my travels so far in North America and Europe. Almost all sitting areas have some kind of outlet or USB power outlets. Many restaurants had it too (see my Kafel review). The main terminal has almost anything you would need barber, showers, bank, duty free, several restaurants, pharmacy, etc. A small 4 minute train ride takes you out to gates K and L, and in most airports you would find nothing, but here you'll find more shopping, restaurants, duty free, and even an upstairs area I didn't have time to check out! I love this airport and I don't say that lightly. After 35 years in the airline business and travel 90% of my life its a huge compliment. Its well laid out, clean, easy to navigate, so relaxing, great good options, fabulous coffee options and shopping if you interested. I cant say enough good things about Munich airport. I'm definitely a fan. If you happen to be here near Christmas the Christmas markets open at the airport a week before the city. Stunning also. Nothing shabby or crappy. OK, Terminal 2 is so much better for everything, than T1, do not use T1 (read my review), but today I found out T2 has no shopping or food after 10pm, free WiFi is sketchy and has poor quality with frequent disconnects, and the USB chargers in the seats are about 50% dead :( This is shameful for a so called 5 Star airport! read more

I am against the norm on most of the reviews and I'm so pro-Germany it hurts to give a 2 star review to anything in this country, but alas, here it is. Keep in mind, we were not late at any point of this so none of what I'm writing is out of impatience. My co-worker and I were leaving Munich to come back to Los Angeles on a Sunday morning. We were business class on a Lufthansa flight, and our first thought was just to use the priority desk outside since our uber driver dropped us off right in front of it. There was only one person open and had a family that looked like they had been there for some time and had quite the problem. Two people behind that family and then us. Not really a priority check in lane here. If someone is having this much difficulty, maybe send them inside to an agent so others can take advantage of this service? Or have more than one window open on a busy travel day? So WE went inside and it took us awhile to figure out where the check in was. No one in the business class line but as we got through the maze of stanchions, the woman who was supposed to check us in called someone from the economy line. Then saw us and had them stop. Kinda rude for that guy and he uttered his frustration. We find out that this is only a line if you aren't checking any bags and then pointed to a rather long line to check your bags. We wait in that line and my co-worker was given different instructions than I was on where to go. What?! We get to the security lines and they have a business class check in and an economy check in. Ours was just as long and it was painfully slow moving with no one really knowing which security line to go in once you go through the maze and if it wasn't for the very rude man behind us telling us to keep the line moving, we wouldn't have known you have to just pick which one. I guess we're used to being in the US where they have someone there that tells you which lane to get into. Once through security we headed to the Lufthansa lounge and when it got close to our time to board, we come out and learn that terminal L isn't even in this building and we have to take a tram to the terminal. Why didn't the check in people tell us this? Luckily, the tram just pulled up as we came down the escalator. We then have to go up escalators past K and up to the L floor level. Customs. We try to use the automated machines which worked for my co-worker, but for some reason none of the machines worked for me so I had to go through the lineup. The border agent didn't even say 'good morning' or anything, just stamped my passport. Okay. We then had to wait through yet another line for some women to scan our boarding pass which wasn't enough as they still typed in some information. Then through another secured lane to get to our gate. Then they had a moving side walk which must have been about 10 meters long and we were wondering what in the world that was for?! Did it really save 10 whole steps? Then we still had to scan our boarding pass again! Then another flight of stairs to board the plane. It seemed like such a big effort to board a plane and we had come from Amsterdam, London, and Los Angeles which all had way easier check ins than this. We had to go through customs in the US so why make us do customs in Munich? Also, what is the point of the women scanning in our boarding pass and then typing in the same information just for us having to scan the same boarding pass 100 feet later at the gate? Sorry Munich, you have a really nice and clean looking building, but this did not seem efficient at all. read more

Excellent terminal in Munich. Very good shopping, lots of food alternatives, clean and fresh. All really what you are looking for while departing from Munich or just changing flights. What I miss is a Priority Pass lounge so that you don't need to travel over to Terminal 1 to get access to a lounge (if you are not flying business). Highly recommended as a hub in Europe, especially if you are flying Lufthansa! read more

The WiFi is through "HotSpot" and is supposed to be free but it doesn't take you to the Munich Airport website or at least not in a timeframe that makes sense. I don't like being sequestered in the Terminal 2 H gates where there are almost no services and the air conditioning seems broken. read more

This airport is always nice to visit It is easy to access and navigate. This particular terminal offers many amenities which is nice while you wait for your flight. You will find plenty of places to grab a bite to eat and many places to go shopping. There are many luxury brand stores throughout which can put a dent in your wallet pretty quickly. There is enough to keep you entertained while you wait for your flight. read more
