As a newbie to archery, this was the place for me. I entertained someplace more local, but they didn't even want my business (big sign that said dont enter unless you have a firearm license. I called in advance to make sure they were open as they are an hour away. When I want in I was greeter and they asked me some questions about what my intent was (hunt, or target). They showed me a few bows, had me practice a few shots, and then had to "calibrate" or fit the bow. Within a week they called me and said it was ready. When I went to pick up, an older gentleman (who I think is the owner) had me practice a few shots. Then he let me practice on tje range for an hour with my bows. Showed me the proper posture and how to load the arrows as well as.remove them from the target. I am happy with the experience. Very patient, very kind people. If you're new, and have no idea what you are doing, I would advise calling them first to make sure they are not too busy (and they do get busy around hunting season, even in the middle of the week. read more

urchased a Diamond Archery bow this afternoon with help from Nick. I've shot a bow only two times in the past. Nick was excellent at explaining the nomenclature of the bow and its proper function. Inside of the range Nick explained what to do and what not to do. Went over proper trigger pull and how to sight the bow. After shooting multiple rounds we went back upstairs and completed the purchase. Nick did not rush the process. He was very knowledgeable and very thorough. What a great archery store. I feel like a little kid in a candy store with all the great bows and gear here. So much better than buying mail order and going to a big box sports store who has very few bows and models and gear. This place is focused like a laser beam on this sport and it shows. Their staff is very well educated on their sport. They are professional and non judgmental. I dare you to try and find a place with all that under one roof. I called some time ago to explore the idea of visiting the range there. Michael (the younger) I spoke to was pleasant, helpful and quite versed in all things archery. I went with my own equipment on a Monday and actually met Michael. The moment you walk into Flying Arrow you know this is a place serious about archery. While there is a pointed emphasis on hunting sport rather than targeting, the store is jam-packed with every bell and whistle an enthusiast could ever want. Michael is a master of equipment: his knowledge not only of components was complete, but could run comparisons of different brands from memory. My equipment was already close to $1400 in specially requested components - after a few hours of discussion and practice with Mike - another $600 of upgrades went on. Mike was never just trying to get sales: with the upgrades and an hour of his guidance, my target scoring immediately rose 30% with more improvement possible. Granted, Flying Arrow is a bit of trek from the NYC area - It's Worth It. read more

My wife and I went to two other archery specialty stores to get new compound bows and related gear. One in Westchester and the other a well known national retail sporting chain in Ct. Flying Arrow was hands down, the best for gear and custom fitting/service. Dave and Nick were phenomenal and extremely knowledgeable, professional, and a pleasure to work with. We left confident in our equipment and better informed. It's a ways out and certainly not the least expensive place, but it's well worth the extra few dollars to get fitted with the right gear that's right for me, not the stores bottom line. read more

I drove all the way from Manhattan to Flying Arrow and I have to say, the drive was well worth it. My new bow needed to be calibrated and tuned up. Fortunately I was greeted by Nick who was awesome! He spent more than two hours fine tuning my bow, diligently tweaking the scope & the bow like a Harvard trained surgeon. I was so impressed with his patience, knowledge of archery, easy going attitude and more importantly, how well he knew my PSE bow and new Garmin sight. I had the opportunity to shoot not only at 20 yards, but 30 yards too. Not many archery stores even have access to 30 yards. The entire staff was welcoming and friendly. Bought wife her compound bow here. One guy was working, and must say, he was working very hard as store was very busy. Waited our turn (45mins), and when it was, the guy was very helpful and helped us pick the correct bow, and set it up for her. Other people behind us didnt seem to mind the wait, so I guess thats a good sign. Indoor range as well was adequate. I really dislike waiting myself, but was happy to get wife fixed up with her bow. read more

In the last year I have been in and out of this bow shop and have purchased 2 compounds (one for me, one for my girlfriend), and one crossbow. The staff may be young but extremely knowledgable, professional, and provide honest insight on all of the products they sell. Most importantly they stand behind everything they sell ranging from everything you could imagine archery. The traditional range and digital "techno hunt" range are well kept, safe, and fun. They offer lessons or if you are like I was, a mid 30 year old looking for a constructive hobby and stress relief, this is the place for you. The prices are comparable to internet pricing but more importantly you get what you pay for. You might pay a few extra dollars understandably... for that is where service comes into play. The staff will help you sight in, correctly make adjustments, and let you demo your purchase. Good bow shops are far and few in between. These guys are excellent. They took the time to understand my experience level and what I was looking for. They even steered me away from a more expensive bow because it was overkill. I got a great shooting lesson there too. I highly recommend them to anyone interested in archery. I went to a competitor and they basically would have sold me anything I asked to look at without asking any questions. If you're serious about buying a bow come in and see these guys. This is probably one of the best pro archery shops in the tri-state area. Dave, Nick, and the rest of the crew are extremely helpful and really know what they are talking about. They don't push a certain brand bow company on you like other shops do, and have no problem letting you shoot every bow in the shop. Went in to get arrows and they did not even look at the chart or check the pressure on the bow. They gave me arrows and said they were good. I stopped in another store to get my bow looked at and was told that I was using the wrong arrows for the pressure that my bow is putting out. They could not believe this store sold me these arrows for my bow. They were actually surprised as they know this store and were shocked. I had to get all new arrows as I was told the arrows that were sold to me were dangerous to use with my bow. The new store that I went to checked the pressure of my bow and looked at the chart to make sure my arrows were correct. This store did not do any of that. I will never be back. This store got too big and is not being run on a personal level anymore. I feel like I just wasted money coming here. Some kid helped me that did not do right, plus the owner of this store never looks happy. read more

We first visited Flying arrow sports in December 2013. My son was 11 at the time and had just finished his first archery class. We only had about 150.00 to spend. The staff set him up with a bow and arrows and he got to shoot in the indoor range. They were so attentive and helpful we couldn't wait to go back this year! We were excited to see they had expanded when we arrived. We wanted to buy some arrows, get his bow tightened and look at some other options for bows. When we got up to the counter they informed us that the bow cannot be tightened and would not answer any of my sons questions. They said "he was getting too strong" (whatever that means) and that he should just stick with the bow he has. Every time we tried to ask about other options they basically rolled their eyes and threw out quotes of 400.00 and up. They then presented us a bunch of arrows and told us to pick 3. I asked if he could shoot at the indoor range and he said it's really busy without even looking up. It was clear at this point that they really didn't want to waste their time on us.
