It's awesome to see DICK's operating at the JVM, and it's sure proven that. This location sticks out to be one of the biggest I'd say in the Hudson Valley, with Palisades being the 1st. Pretty general layout in most locations, and just like this one, it lives up to it. I found most of the store to be in good shape, in terms of organization, and also how kept up and clean it was. Some of the items are fun to look at, with the decision of buying or not, which we all fall under the same boat. Some of the issues for the most part are cramped in some areas, which again, can stick for the most part. I found the store to be filled with a number of employees, mainly young adult age, and their customer service wasn't the greatest. Most wouldn't go out of the way, etc. Improvement is definitely key to see here. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!! A. Everything is hilariously over priced like it's a joke. B. Try returning something they refuse to give money back and make you take a gift card so you can keep using their money and not get yours back, basically once you spend you have to buy something with them. I and a handful of other irritated people stand outside the metal security gate at 10:15 on a random Tuesday, though they advertise opening at 9. We wait for 15 minutes while employees bop around inside but don't open the store. I impatiently browse Macy's for thirty minutes and return to find the store still not open at 11:00. Is it a holiday? Are they riding out the zombie apocalypse in there? Is it closed for a fancy private function? Am I a purgatory ghost? Let's be honest, this mall is one discount wig store away from the grave. Aside from me and the other would-be Dick's customers on this side of the iron curtain, I saw only one other ancient woman shopping Macy's (for gigantic underpants). This recalcitrant Dick's is probably going to be the nail in the mall coffin, as it unfortunately anchors this ghost ship. And if what the other reviewers say about poor management and lackluster customer service is true, get ready to welcome a Northern Westchester Professional Fingerpaint Institute Learning Annex to this store's space soon. Terrible customer service. Super lazy employees who won't go out of their way to help you. All young kids who are there for a paycheck. I asked if there was someone around to purchase ammunition. The kid walks away, comes back and says someone is coming. So I poke around for 15 minutes or so, still nobody. So I go to the checkout counter and ask what the deal is. "Oh there's no ammunition sales because the NYS background check system is down". Nobody cared to find out when or if it will be back online or ask a manager. Oh wonderful, so who did that kid go get that left me standing there? Probably an incompetent manager who just figured I'd go away if they left me there long enough. Not to mention I leave there and sit in my truck and try tirelessly to get management on the phone, and they don't even pickup the store phones. I called for 30 minutes. So I went to Walmart to purchase my ammunition. What a wonderful and pleasant experience that was after leaving DICKS . At least three different employees all went out of their way to find the guy from the ammunition counter and were all super nice about it. THATS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! Those are employees who care about their jobs and are doing what they are there to do and that's assisting the customer always, because with no customers and bad reviews you have no business. The staff members are professional and friendly but their manager Rojas is very rude and unfriendly with no customer service skills. My son and I are always buying baseball equipment from this location and when I asked the manager about a defective item I needed to return he just stared at me and handed me a paper and said I have to deal with the manufacturer he had no interest in helping me and just gave me a piece of paper and walked away. I'm very disappointed the item I was inquiring about was very expensive and time sensitive. read more

This won't be in business very long. The guy at the counter had me wait two hours to buy my rifle, when it was finally my turn he told me to wait for someone who had just arrived. After another 35 minutes of this guy cutting arrows, I walked out with no rifle. If management is reading this, feel free to watch the security videos. 11/10/16. Got there at about 9:30-10. Was recently in the Jefferson Valley store because my brother had to exchange a shirt. Some how the manager Anthony was acting up and insinuated that my brother was trying to pull a fast one. Probably one of the worst golf departments I've seen out of all the Dicks stores that I've been in. The person in the golf department was not helpful or knowledgeable at all. He was more concerned with a package that came in from UPS that was something he ordered personally. When I explained to him what I needed he said "here pick out what you want in the catalog and and I'll order it" and continue to do other things. Very unprofessional in my opinion. The next day I decided to give Dick's another chance. I visited the White Plains location, explained what I needed and they were very very helpful. Maybe if I need some new shoelaces I'll shop at Dick's in Yorktown. read more

Dave gave me a lot of personalized attention and service when shopping guns and rifles. I knew nothing about guns and safety and storage and he really took the time to explain the basics to me. A few other customers came into the hunting and game area and instead of having me wait, Dave called in other staff to help the new customers while taking the time showing me which rifles are best for trick shooting. All of my initials questions were answered and I will definitely be returning to this store. It was great to get a feel for the equipment in person and the personalized service was A+! Went in to buy women's hiking boots. After asking 3 people, they finally called over someone from the shoe department who showed me where they were. He knew some info about the shoes, but not a lot. Very low selection as well. They only had one pair of waterproof boots in my size. I will try Dick's in Danbury tomorrow only because it's on my way to an appointment. If I can't find something, I'll be going to REI. read more

guy from the rifle section was very rude and then he decided to follow us to the hiker shoe section where he just kept insisting to help us and we kindly declined his help but wouldnt leave us alone and at one point snapped when my fiancee was trying on some boots and said "please do me a favor and dont try on the shoes if you dont know what to get" and snatched the box away from us, hes extremely rude and should learn some customer service. read more
