Steve was friendly & talkative, his horses are cared for & they were well trained. We asked to do a beach trail but instead we met at Manzanita County Park. It was a hard trail with no shade & lots of ups & downs & steep hills. It was hot & instead of a 2hr tour it lasted almost 3hrs. There wasn't enough padding under the saddle so our butts were hurting, especially the last hour. We've been on 10+ horseback riding tours. This was the first time we didn't have to sign waivers or wear helmets & Steve was encouraging first time riders to stand on top of the horse. The horses liked to gallop & trot, I had to keep slowly down my horse. If you're on a schedule & prefer a more structured tour & don't want to trot or gallop, this is NOT the tour for you. He doesn't take pictures unless you ask him to & he said he'd send us pictures but never did. So make sure you stay & have him send the pictures before you leave.

Steve is amazing! We absolutely loved our trail ride with him, the whole family had a great time and everyone got their own horse. We'd definitely recommend booking with him!

This was by far the best horseback riding experience of our lives! My husband and I went to Monterey for our honeymoon and really wanted to do horseback riding so decided to try this business. Steven, the owner, was so incredible and made the experience very worthwhile. He made sure we got the right horses for our skill level and even let us canter! Which was so much fun compared to the more boring trail rides I've been on. It was just such an awesome and personalized experience overall, and we're already looking forward to doing it again the next time we visit Monterey.

    Beautiful scenery

The best trail ride I've ever been a part of. The horses are sure footed and did everything I asked mine too. I sadly don't own my own horse anymore so to have a ride that was not nose to tail walking the whole time was incredibly freeing and felt like I was home in the saddle again. Steve is so kind and cared that we all rode to our level which is more than rare. Loped as much as everyone wanted which was fantastic. 100% the most incredible ride. Manzanita Park is beautiful and the trails were easy. Wide, smooth and with Steve as your guide you will have the ride of a lifetime. Like I said I've owned horses my whole life and since my beloved boy passed away I've missed connecting with a horse and nature more than I knew. BRAVO Steve. See you again soon.

Can our 8 and 9 year old with no experience ride with us?

Yes they can ride for sure. We have had lots kids with no experience ride with us. We do our best to make sure the kids understand how to control their horse and most of all we make sure the kids have fun.

A magical experience! Highly recommend. My family and I visited Monterey in June and we had to go…read morewhale watching when we found out it was whale season!! I picked Princess Monterey for several reasons. The most important one is that they offer 3 hour tours (shorter version) compared to 4 or more hour tours. Some of my family members get motion sickness, so I thought a shorter trip would be best. I also picked Princess Monterey because of their larger sized boats. It can get very bumpy out in the ocean, so having a larger boat helps with less motion sickness. We opted for a whale tour at 10am on a Saturday in late June. It was perfect and we got to see so many whales up close. The tour guides are very nice and knowledgeable during the ride. The boats are very spacious and have indoor and outdoor seating. I recommend you sit indoors when the boat takes off into the ocean. We all sat on the outer part of the boat and got super wet! Luckily it was a sunny day so our clothes were able to dry out. There's plenty of space, so sit inside until you get to the whale destination, then go out and enjoy the experience! If you tend to get motion sickness, you probably will during this trip. We had a very bumpy and windy ride, and at one point I felt a little queasy. There were some people who did get really sick during the trip, so don't forget your motion sickness medicine. I would also bring a warm coat as it gets cold once you're out in the ocean. It's also a great idea to bring sunblock and a hat. Unforgettable experience!

Here's a fun and exciting review for your whale watching experience with Princess Monterey:…read more --- **Princess Monterey: A Whale of a Time (with a Splash of Adventure!)** Well, folks, if you're looking for a whale watching trip that's equal parts exhilarating and stomach-churning, look no further than Princess Monterey! Our group of 40 brave souls set sail yesterday, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride! Picture this: the ocean was a bit like a roller coaster--waves crashing, boats rocking, and our group members discovering just how quickly they could become best friends with the sea. Quite a few of us found ourselves feeling a bit queasy, but hey, who knew that whale watching came with a side of "hold on to your lunch"? But here's the kicker: despite the rough waters, we saw more whales than I've ever seen on any whale watching excursion! It was like a scene out of a nature documentary--humpbacks breaching, flukes flipping, and us squealing with delight (and maybe a little nausea). Every wave brought a new adventure, and the sight of those magnificent creatures made it all worth it! The crew was absolutely fantastic! They were like walking encyclopedias of the ocean, ready to answer every question we threw at them, no matter how ridiculous. "Is that a whale or just a really enthusiastic dolphin?"--they handled it all with grace and humor. Their enthusiasm was contagious, making even the toughest waves feel like a minor inconvenience. So, if you're up for a thrilling adventure with the chance to see some magnificent whales (and maybe test your sea legs), Princess Monterey is your go-to! Just bring some ginger ale for the ride trust me on that one!

Each space is so well thought out, detailed, and beautiful. We loved the charming Italian feel of the Chateau and the Western contrast of the Double H Ranch. We stayed on-site in the Chateau which was so amazing. The grounds are beautiful and it was fun to use the pool and enjoy the many available spaces over our three days there (and the incredible breakfasts!). Stonepine has an amazing team. Oceanne and Ari helped us navigate every detail and gave so much care into the planning of our day. I booked 5 lessons (paid for 4 with the 5th lesson, FREE) and my grandson rode 1x when no one was there only 1 guy who was closing up. Luckily he rode in the arena since he is not a rider. Since February 2026, I have been trying to get dates assigned to complete the 4 riding lessons. Lo and behold, it appears they closed down the ranch and moved to Prunedale in another assumed name. I contacted the owner Doug by phone and emails to no avail. He has not returned my messages, nor has he returned the $200 I invested as a Christmas gift for my grandson. I am still waiting for him to reply but it seems he's hiding and has kept my money. When I emailed him, I also included the BBB of Salinas/Prunedale but no answer from them either. I would also include the CA State Attorney's Office to look into this matter but have found no contact information for them. I am frustrated and very disappointed in Doug as a business owner and the fact that they don't honor their paying customers by at least replying to emails or phone calls. It seems their phone has been disconnected now. What a joke he is as is his business. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with these Charlatans! If I could give them a ZERO, I would as they are big Zeros in my eyes!
