The additional space would have been nice for two adults and their furry friend. It was still a great room with an awesome view of the dunes and water. Check in was terrific. The lobby is beautiful and stocked for a quick whatever you might want. There is a backyard behind the lobby that is sheltered from those pesky ocean breezes with firepit, tables, chairs and other stuff. Nice touch. Our room was spotless. The bathroom was very nice. Clean and let me say that the shower was fantastic. There is a heater/fan in the bathroom that made getting out of the shower, pleasantly warm. Toiletries are of nice quality. Our dog, Sian found the stick library very useful and she had a blast going after it on the beach and in the ocean. She even brought it back to the library the morning we left, for others to use during their stay. The pet welcome is a nice touch. This site is very pet friendly. Not so much for the timeshares that are on the same property. And that's fine. Parking is not allowed at the units. You are driven to your unit by one of the great golf cart drivers. Zach was our driver. Loaded all our luggage on to the the cart. As we journeyed to our cottage, Zach pointed out sites as well as amenities. Unloaded our luggage as wll as went and got us ice as we settled in. If you need help getting to your car, onsite restaurant or the lobby, just call the lobby about 10 minutes before you want to go and someone will be there. The restaurant is great. We ate there twice and had breakfast delivered to our unit twice. The bread platter... OMG... the bread platter. We loved it so much that we went to Otto's bakery in Salinas on our way out of town to bring it home with us. The restaurant is not open for breakfast but, at check in, you will get a room service menu that that's how you can have breakfast onsite. More on the restaurant in that review... Can't wait to go back. Have to say that overall, this is probably in our top 3 of vacation spots. Including Hawaii. It's just great.

We paid around $1,000 for one night, so I arrived excited and expecting something special. Unfortunately, our experience was the opposite. Many of the pet-friendly touches that influenced me to book were missing at check-in. There was no personalized dog welcome setup, no dog package, and my dog's name was not on the welcome sign until I called later. I had also requested a simple welcome card for my mother-in-law's first trip to California, and although staff said they would gladly do it, it was never done. We also had multiple room issues throughout the stay. The TV was not working, the phone buttons to reach the front desk did not work, there was no extra pillow for the fold-out bed, and there was even a leftover dog chew from a previous guest found in the bed. To be fair, the maintenance employee was kind and helpful, and the complimentary bottle of wine was appreciated. However, for this price point, the lack of attention to detail and overall service was really disappointing. What upset me most was checkout. I politely explained that I was disappointed and thought at minimum the pet fee might be removed, but there was no effort to make things right beyond emailing the receipt. Beautiful location, but the experience did not match the cost or reputation. I truly wanted to love this stay and left sad and let down instead.

It scampered into a hole in the wall. Staff tried to stuff a rag in it before moving us to a closet-sized "unsaleable" room, a third the size of our suite. Compensation for a thousands-per-night booking gone wrong? A slight room upgrade for one night, a comped activity, and $150 (which didn't even cover the resort fee). When we followed up through our third-party booking, Ventana told them we'd already been compensated. For a rodent, two room changes, and a ruined special occasion. Nice property. Awful management. It was wonderful to wake up the next morning and have a perfect view of the ocean from our room. We had breakfast, we walked around the grounds for a little hike, back to our room to hang out. Lunch, more walking, dinner. Rinse and repeat. Spent one afternoon carving a pumpkin we picked up along the way. The staff were professional and friendly, kept our room stocked with bath salts, coffee pods and a bottle of water on the nightstand when they turn down the bed. Gorgeous views, awesome weather. It is a great place to unwind and just be.

We were staying nearby at Lucia Lodge and needed a better dinner option. They responded quickly, I got some cell service, and we confirmed our reservation for last seating at 8:30. Sydney at the front desk, great name by the way, also confirmed a $25 corkage fee for the special bottle we wanted to bring. We did the 4 course dinner and it was a pleasant surprise to have so many good choices with each course. I went crudo, soup, steak and panna cotta; the better half went with scallops, wood fired cabbage, steak and chocolate cake. We shared, all was divine :-) Service was on point, friendly and they never rushed us. We also bought a few items from the cute gift shop. The Morlet 2014 Cabernet I brought was incredible and a perfect match. Use lastbottle.com. I got this $300 bottle for under $100, well worth it to pair with this extraordinary meal. Some of the dishes were slightly on the fishy side, but other than that it was very yummy. I don't think I would recommend making reservations at the omakase unless you're staying at the resort since they do take stand alones. We were also greeting by a very large spider on the bathroom towels in the middle of the night but other than that we had a great time.

For those I'd like to go in the nude the area is fenced off, so nobody can see inside, but I decided to go in in my swimsuit. It was a great temperature and soaked for a little bit, took in the sun and then headed on back home. This is a fantastic place if somebody wants to do a day trip. Our room was well appointed with a comfy bed and fireplace as well as a place for us to work. The bathroom was nice with a large tub for soaking and we had a private hot tub on our deck that we made very good use of. All of the food, whether it was room service or happy hour plates or meals at the restaurants (with the single exception of the Big Sur Smokehouse which was terrible and I do not recommend) was very good. As a matter of fact, I would say that the culinary experiences here were some of our best experiences overall, and that is saying a lot considering the level of customer service you receive at this establishment. We also hiked the trails with our small dog but unfortunately as much as they advise this is a dog friendly place, dogs are not allowed in the pool or soaking areas and you cannot leave them in the room, so by bringing our dog we did miss out on use of the pools and some of the other amenities. We were able to dine at the dog friendly restaurants though and again the food was delicious. Overall, this was definitely a five-star stay from the amazing service and accommodations to the delicious food to the ability to appreciate being surrounded by nature. We spent a lot of time relaxing in in our hammock or our hot tub, as well as snuggling in front of the fireplace. enjoying each other's company. After we collected some herbs we went back and made our own bitters. They suggested some combinations. We chose nettles, orange peel and vanilla bean. We both had deep tissue massages. The vision behind this place is truly inspiring and heartwarming. Built from the ground up around sustainability, human energy, and the balance between light and dark: allegretto, as a name, captures it perfectly. There are structures and masterpieces from six continents woven throughout the grounds, and as you walk through, you feel transported: one moment you're in Europe, the next in India, the next rooted right here in the American West. Astrology, art, intention, and the practice of living in the present moment are threaded through every corner. The wine selection has something for every palate. The tasting room mostly outdoors and so relaxing + beautiful, and the club membership is def worth it! What truly sold me were my wine tour hosts, Rosemary and Ryan. From the moment I walked in, they were warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about this place. The spa was great too! Jackie and Denise were warm and I got an amazing facial. Started the morning with yoga in the chapel, which was serene and restorative in the best possible way. The restaurant, Cello, is also excellent. Renee and Devyn were kind & welcoming. Lisa and Ava at the front desk were gracious and warm every time I crossed their path. Also found the most thoughtful, reasonably priced gifts for my family at the wine tasting room: a rare bonus. Heard they're building a second pool that will include both a family pool and an adults-only pool too. A few small notes I'm sharing in the spirit of the brand itself: not as complaints, but as easy wins for mgmt. For a resort so deeply rooted in sustainability, plastic cups at the water stations felt out of place. Switching to paper would be a simple change with a meaningful impact. Similarly, the mats in the chapel were the Amazon brand, which didn't feel aligned with the intentionality of everything else here. And one logistical thing worth noting: a portion of the grounds was blocked off for a wedding the morning after I checked in (pic included) Had planned to wander early and would have really appreciated a heads up at booking so I could plan accordingly. None of this changes my overall experience or my enthusiasm for this place. Allegretto is one of those rare destinations that if the above aligns with what you enjoy, you will be transported. Highest possible recommendation.

I will start off with the positives, the food and amenities were great, the food options and authentic Jamaican cuisine was a pleasant surprise, often I resorts will water down the flavors to appease foreign tourists, that was not the case, with a jerk hut on property and a pretty diverse buffet for both breakfast and dinner i was pleased. The amenities were pretty nice, the pools are nice, lazy river and waterslides were fun. different bars all over the property so finding a drink is never an issue. Our friends that received a tour of the grounds as well and a beach side massage said that they were AMAZING. Now for some of the more vexing items: - our room was not ready until 2 hours after we checked-in. If this was an isolated incident I could have easily extended grace but, 6 ppl from our party over multiple days had issues checking in and their rooms not being ready. - We ordered room service on 2 separate days, 2:30 am through the app and 10:25 pm over the phone, respectively and after receiving confirmation on both orders we never received the jerk chicken wraps we wanted to try. - the individual customer service was inconsistent some our a true pleasure and joy to engage with but many were not so pleasant, on the last morning before check out, at breakfast i asked for Milo and apple juice the young, told me they didn't have any, i asked for this 2 items specifically because i had received them the 2 previous mornings, i got up and got the Milo myself that was a few feet away at the mimosa area. - on the 2 evening i was attempting to iron press one of my garments, the iron in the room was not working, i called the front and for 7 mins no one picked up so i walked to the lobby the proceeded to wait about 15 minutes to put in the request in person, the lady was very pleasant and apologetic and called in for our room to get a new iron, it never came. There was even a follow up call asking if we had received the new iron, i let her know we had not, she apologized and said it would be over... still never came If any of these things happened in isolation it would be completely understandable but with the type of money spent, my expectations were not met having so many issues in concession.
