I have had a credit card for almost 50 years and have never heard of a policy for placing a large charge on a purchase of gas at the pump. I purchased $30 in gas today, and when I checked my credit card online, I noticed they added a charge of $151.00. That can be done with debit cards, but never credit cards. Although this charge may be there for 48 hours, it's something that I will have to check on until it's resolved. This policy is unacceptable! Typical truck stop with your usual connivance store amenities. Now if your reading this you are probably not in Flying J's target market. You are most likely some non truck driver driving down to Austin/San Antonio or driving back from Austin to the Big D. This review is for you. Stop by here for easy on off access to fill your vehicle up. You have a few choices for meal here. You could go inside and eat at the restaurant, grab food to go up at the counters. Consisting of burgers, corn dogs, hot dogs and other various items. Or you could hit of the BK across the parking lot. The pluses to this place is that there are showers here for you to clean up after a long journey. You do not need to be a truck driver to use them. You pay a fee, they call up your number and in you go. The place seemed a little bit dingy. The counter people seemed pretty nice and easy to talk to. The bathrooms were mediocre at best. And it looked like all of the trashcans were close to overflowing. Besides that there was a huge selection of drinks and snacks and the best part the gas was competitive compared to the other gas stations. Did a roadtrip to Laredo. Stoped to Gas up and get some grub. The family of course needed to use the restrooms. Wife went in and 30 seconds later right back out. Restrooms were bad. My son walked out and said there was no toilet paper and seats had chocolate on them. As bad as my son needed the restroom he still is a jokester. The pizza is delicious & the showers are super clean! Also has a lot of amenities that other competitors do not have like massage chairs and even a digital gambling room lol. For some reason I always seem to stop here on my way to Oklahoma, its pretty nice, the bathrooms can be a bit weird, but they are usually pretty clean. You get to seem some interesting people, but they actually have reallish food that you can actually eat. So I would try it out. read more

I told him 5 times it was registered with a card number not an express code. But because that's how he ran it through it wouldn't go through. So I got irritated and went 7 miles down the interstate to the pilot and got it cashed in less than 5 minutes. I wish I was able to give a negative star! I went to use the restroom and it was nasty. Filthy couldn't even describe what I saw in there! Toilets weren't working, floors were wet with debris. This flying jay was pretty nice, seems to be rather new. They have a Denny's attached but we didn't eat on our stop. They also have pizza, that looked good, fried chicken and other fresh made items.The women's bathroom had just been cleaned when I went in so it looked good. Not sure how it looked before but they seem to keep it up pretty nice. The only down fall is the bathrooms are pretty small for such a big truck stop, only two stalls in the women's bathroom. read more

I would give 0 stars if would it let me! The ladies behind the counter accused me of lying because I have a medical condition stating I can't wear a mask. Then said they refused to take my scratch offs because she felt "uncomfortable" after already ringing up the other things that were in my hands. I told her my app isn't showing my free birthday drink and pizza so she said it was only day of which is a lie! Then after I left because I had some food behind the counter that they put in a bad for me I found a pack of cigarettes I did NOT ask for and do NOT smoke but got charges for! My husband went back inside for me to return them and use the app again and the ladies told my husband they thought I was just a liar saying it was not working. Horrible experience! 0 starts and super unsatisfied! I had another free thing on the app they they said they don't grant at that store as well and am super unhappy with this! We have an rv and buy only from flying j and have a gas card and will probably be cancelling the entire thing after this! read more

Well, I used to think this was a decent place to stop at until this morning. The good thing about this place is the showers are hot and bigger than average and there's a little lounge with TVs. However, this morning makes me not want to come here at all, especially in the morning. My husband and I slept here last night because he had a pickup at Tractor Supply this morning. We went in at 6am to get some coffee and breakfast real quick before we hit the road at 7. 5 out of 7 of the coffee pots was blinking, telling people that the coffee is either two hours old or out, and an eighth pot was being cleaned. There were absolutely no flavored creamers on the coffee bar. Besides the not fresh coffee, there were no food items even cooking on the roller grill and there was no sausage gravy or oatmeal on the soup bar, and nothing whatsoever on the hot bar except a lonely l, old slice of mega meat pizza. Granted, there is a Denny's here, but most truckers don't have time for a sit down breakfast in the morning. The morning crew here is the laziest I've seen, and that's sad. read more

The convenience store side: Great GM with great desire to do the job right! The store is cleaner and better stocked than most other truck stops I've been to, including the Pilot just down the road! The staff is very friendly with a desire to accommodate the customers. The showers are always cleaned well. The bathrooms could use a little more attention, and more frequently. Non professional drivers need to stay OUT of the Professional Drivers' area! We put up with your crap on the road! So use your own damned restrooms at the front of the store! (Ever wonder, when you go to the Professional Drivers' area, why the drivers give you that look as if we know where to hide the bodies? Take the hint!) And the Trucker's lounge is NOT for regular drivers! Stay out! Don't bring your kids in it to scream and jump all over our furniture, change the channel, and then complain because you hear curse words! Finally, as for the Denny's: Awful staff with lazy customer service attitudes! The food tastes like it is embalmed! They play too much and don't focus on taking care of customers. read more

We frequently stop at this Flying J Plaza going down to the RGV but each time we stop its seems to become more and more desireable. It seems the staff has become lask in keeping the RV fuel islands clear of spilled fuel. Who wants to get out to put fuel into there RV and have to stand in fuel residue on the ground that appears to have been there for some time. Another issue was the pump was running so slow it took us a good part of 20 min to put in just $150 of fuel. Finally gave up and moved on up the road. Come on Flying J you can do better than this. read more
