We did door dash for a girls night in and I see this came from the union hall, so solid choice if you go there. My cauliflower crust was pretty good and the toppings tasted fresh. I wish I could have asked for light sauce on the ordering app but that's really my only complaint. My sis and friend liked theirs as well. While perusing for pizzas they were pretty scattered reviews, so I'd say this is a decently solid choice. read more

Coming from NY, the giant slice was probably the size of a regular slice. That being said, I appreciated the presentation on the circular metal tray with the wax paper. Just got a classic slice. The kiddo wanted the Castillo's spaghetti but sadly the pasta machine was not working that day so she settled on the kids meal, which is a classic slice cut smaller. The pizza itself was not bad. So far I've only stopped by for gelato, but I am eager to try more. I got a scoop of vanilla bean and strawberry cheesecake for only $5.50. I did not get to take a picture of the pizza but just know it was devoured within minutes of making it home. We ordered the Stella with a side of ranch and garlic butter. This delicious pizza place is nestled inside Waco's Union Grove, a family dining destination with many food vendors. I've had Village Pizzeria several times in person and via delivery once - not enough! I think of returning VERY often for their Supremely Veggie pizza; this, with pepperoni and extra marinara, is the best pizza I've ever had since moving here. (Veggie pizza person over here!) It's everything I want made the closest to perfection. Their website boasts authentic Italian handmade dough with the freshest ingredients and toppings - I don't deny it! For example, their dough is light, yet crispy and thick... not full of grease or air. I enjoy dipping it into their pizza sauce. The quantity of toppings are also excellent! I enjoy their freshness and flavor. While their pizza is delicious, it is almost perfectly balanced... except for the pizza sauce. There isn't enough sauce in the pizza in my opinion. However, I love that they offer sides of sauce in person and on their online delivery menu for me to get around this! Some pizza places I've tried to order delivery at, don't include the option to order extra sauce on their menu. Some pizza places, when ordered online, may forget sides of things or special requests. This place doesn't forget my pepperoni and extra sauce addition! I'm grateful for that, because we all don't like sitting at home, food finally gets delivered, and we find something is missing. The person was rude and did not understand customer service. The food that did come was mediocre. I did not eat the pizza as I do not like black olives. My wife stated is was not very good. Fresh and interesting ingredient combos made for a special pizza treat. You order at a counter and they txt you when it's ready; we were serviced right away at 4pm SAT. I'm a big believer in rewarding companies who do good so came here to say that I really appreciate Village Pizzaria's customer service. When ordering online, I mistakenly placed a pickup order instead of a delivery order and when I called, Avery and the manager were so accommodating and helpful in assisting me in rectifying the situation even though evidently the process to fix something like this thru the 3rd party order/delivery company is tedious and complicated. fast, friendly attentive staff, enjoyed watching someone make pizza dough the old way, not premade and thawed. Bought the pizza bowl and it had a perfect balance of meat, veggies, sauce and cheese. i enjoyed the subdued atmosphere, felt cozy and separate even though I was in a dining hall with about 15 other fold choices. Oh my gosh so good! I was pleasantly surprised. We got the cauliflower crust and it was crunchy and had such good flavor. The best part was the hot honey!!! We dipped our garlic bread in it and it was an explosion of flavor! Like a scone - but with cheese -- and a little heat too! So so good! It's located in the Union Hall food court and is a must try if you're in town. read more

I went in for lunch with my daughter and I ordered a slice of the veggie supreme pizza and asked if they can add pepperoni to it and she said yes. I was so disappointed when I received my slice of pizza, they gave me a slice pepperoni pizza and then just dumped a bunch of veggies on top of which were not even cooked and some cold. It was horrible! I won't be back. Also when the lady was cleaning the tables with some sort of wipes she pulled from a container, she dropped one on the dirty ground and then picked it up and cleaned the table tops with it anyway. No wonder why they had flys everywhere in their restaurant. read more

This pizza is hands-down the best pizza in Waco and the surrounding cities. Pizza places in Waco are a dime a dozen and most of them are nothing to write home about or go back to but this place is consistently perfect. Our family is one of the oldest restaurant families still in business in Central Texas today, serving up homemade cuisine for more than 85 years. Family patriarch Antonio P. Castillo, Sr. started the Castillo's restaurant legacy when he opened The Aztec Cafe in the early 1930s in downtown Waco. Antonio and his wife Josephine were blessed with seven children (four sons and three daughters), all of whom were involved in the family business at one time or another. In 1948, Antonio and his family opened a new restaurant, El Patio, located on 16th Street in Waco. Four years later, classic Italian "Pizza Pie" would be introduced to Waco for the very first time, happily made at the Castillo family's restaurant! An Italian airman serving at Waco's James Connally Air Force Base befriended Antonio and taught the family the proper art of making pizza, from the dough, sauce and cheese, to baking it perfectly until bubbly. They also learned proper techniques for making lasagna, spaghetti and manicotti. The popularity of their new cuisine offerings of Italian & Tex-Mex led to the renaming of the restaurant The Italian Village in 1952, a name that remained until its closing in 1986 after more than 35 years of quality service. Welcome to The Village Pizzeria and Gelato Bar at Union Hall, where we are proudly continuing and building upon our family's Italian pizza heritage.

Almost every time I ordered the same thing--orig Italian sub, no ham and asked them to put any other meat already on the sandwich, in its place. Unfortunately, on this single occasion, at this location I've visited countless times over the years, they said it wasn't possible to remove the ham. Fortunately other places are nearby that can make a simple adjustment if needed. So since removing ham isn't possible, at this location, in the next many years I'll be returning periodically to Waco, I'll not be stopping at this Fazolis.

We shared a flight that consisted of four different lagers. They also offer whiskey flights, brandy flights, wine flights, and cocktails. We didn't have dessert but I'm interested in the crème brûlée cheesecake next time 'round. Between staying at the hotel and eating at the restaurant, it was truly an experience that made me feel like we were back in Europe. Gotta hit up the beer spa next time too!

Disclaimer for new visitors to Waco: I strongly suggest checking Google reviews before Yelp, as most locals tend to post their opinions there. Despite my initial skepticism, I was pleasantly surprised when I decided to try the gelato at this pizza parlor. While most reviews were focused on the pizza, my strawberry cheesecake gelato turned out to be a delightful surprise. I regret not having the stomach to sample other flavors, but I plan to return for a more comprehensive review.
