The Edmonds office is almost within walking distance from my home and it seems to be less busy than the Lynnwood office. That's a definite plus! I've been here many times to their Urgent Care clinic (which is in the same section as the 'regular' care), but I'd never been on a regular basis. I went in for a problem and they sent me upstairs to another doctor. The staff both upstairs and down were super nice and I was able to be seen quickly upstairs. The doctor who treated me was extremely nice and understood my situation. I'd been without a primary care physician since my doctor at Lynnwood retired a couple of years ago but two of the staff at the Edmonds clinic recommended another doctor, so I made two appointments with her. I was even able to change one of the appointments with no issues at all when I realized there was a conflict. I've been in twice to see a pharmacist about my medications and she was super nice as well. I love that this location has its' own pharmacy. It's so convenient and although the staff seem a little flustered at times, I like coming here. Overall, my care has been great and I like coming to this location. Hopefully I can transition completely to this location for most of my medical needs. It would definitely save a lot of time and gas. As for their Urgent Care, it's been great. Thankfully I haven't had to come too often but I love that it's there when I need it. The parking is a lot better here than at Lynnwood, but there are two sides to the building so it can get confusing as to which one is the correct one. The one on the other side of the building that faces away from the street is the entrance that goes to the main reception desk.

This past year has been absolute hell for me, I lost my soul dog and the grief was absolutely unbearable. When I came in for a checkup I expected the usual but instead started being interrogated about why I gained weight and why my acne looked so bad. I explained to her my situation and she said that my grief wouldn't have caused me to be in such a bad state. She started asking me incredibly inappropriate questions like was I raped, did I start using drugs, was I being abused, etc. To some this experience may seem uncomfortable but when I've known this woman my whole life and she knows that I'm in remission for anorexia, and have past attempts on my life...this experience was far more than uncomfortable. I left her office crying and hyperventilating to the point that my mother had to sit with me in the car for 15 minutes trying to calm me down enough so I could speak. During one of the lowest points of my life Dr.Torrez chose to not only ignore me but completely destroy any of the little confidence I had left in me. Please do not EVER go to this woman especially if you struggle with mental health or are a girl/woman, she does not have your best interest at heart and I would hate for any other girl to be made to feel the same way I was.

I get a feeling she isn't very culturally aware and should know how to ask some questions in a more respectful manner. I also ordered a blood test and I was told it's uncommon for Americans under 35 to get blood test for physicals, since doctors can't prescribe medications for blood test results anyways. That's simply not true - most Americans I know have done at least some type of blood tests before 35 plus it's always good to be proactive about your health. Myself & my husband of 20 yrs have been Dr Thurman's patients beginning at the original clinic Edmonds Family Medicine that I have been going to since I was 7 in 1972. I have had 3 Dr's retire Dr Thurman is the last Mohican from the original clinic, after he finally decided to to sell to a big chain. We followed him to Evergreen in Monroe. I am a loyal patient as he is a loyal Dr. He is calming, honest, doesn't claim to know everything. He will refer to a specialist if need be to find out the diagnosis. He is a Dr but also a detective in seeking answers to help in diagnosing whatever is ailing his patient. He really cares. His generation like mine is one of the last that we're taught to be respectful, humble, truthful, honest, caring, communicative. I am proactive also. I more than anyone know my body. I must communicate & research effectively so my Dr then can refer me to a specialist or possibly diagnose what is going on. Its teamwork always, or you may not get the answers you need. Dr Thurman is very popular. If he is taking a new client then you are blessed to have him as your primary care provider. I am very detailed in my communication which is helpful to all Dr's. Pharmacists know the most about types of medications, which one is the best for you, based on your medical conditions & all diagnosis. I must call my provider to see if they will cover some medications if I want to switch. Dr's are not pharmacists, they know medicine but not all brands of every kind. That research is my job with a pharmacist. Find a patient pharmacist. If you dont like an answer from your Dr be kind & tell him. Ask if there are any other options for you. Then call your provider to see if they will pay for what you want, or cover the cost of medicine, or treatments that may be needed. Communication takes two. Be Proactive.
