Honestly if you're a girl I wouldn't come here. Gym is full of judgmental, rude, creepy elderly men. Been going here for 4 years and just canceled my membership today. Also crazy a membership is $75 a month now. Not worth $75 at all. Dated and small gym, broken equipment, people aren't friendly, staff isn't helpful. Used to just suck it up because it was cheap but now that it's $75 there's no point in staying. read more

Good environment but they have some serious problems with cleanliness in the men's locker room. The etiquette for the sauna and steam room is astonishingly awful. People spit phlegm on the floor of the steam room, wear their workout clothes (shoes and all), spit gum on the sauna floor, trash on sauna floor, go in the steam room naked with no barrier between their bare ass and the seat, hand their laundry in the sauna... they still have a gnat problem read more

I've been a member for over 10 years...I've enjoyed all of the facilities and classes. All the instructors I've used are so motivating, which keeps me coming back. The Foglia Y is extremely clean and all of the equipment (including pools) are well maintained. read more

Foglia YMCA is one of the best and cleanest work out facilities. Since working out here the past 17 years, Foglia continuously updates their equipment to have the most elite and current technology. I like this because it makes me feel like I'm getting what I'm paying for. I grew up in Lake Zurich and my parents still live there, so it's the best gym to come home to. With Buehler and Sage YMCA close by, it's nice to know I have options and aren't limited to just one location. I also appreciate their free classes as I still make it to my weekly Body Combat class! Before I start I'd like to add I've been a member here for nearly 4 years and have worked at this location personally for a year. If you're looking for a library this is your place, if you're looking to lift weights and workout id recommend finding somewhere else. You will get kicked out for making even the slightest noise, deadlifting is out of the question, and staff are mostly uneducated in everything that relates to fitness. Especially the Managers. In my four years of attendance I've never had a single issue with anyone until they hired new management. Like I said, if you're serious about fitness find a better gym. read more

My wife and I have been members for 15 years now. I enjoy the facility. Fitness machines are well maintained and state of the art. My only complaint is that the staff doesn't do much of anything other than stand around and play with their phones. Typically no Managers are around in the evening so the staff can do as little as they please. I'm concerned that when the fitness center re-opens on 7/15 the staff won't be doing anything to help keep people safe. I hope I'm wrong. read more

I really liked this Y when i first joined - they have a great facility and their customer service is really good. Newer machines and a lot of extras like kid's programs, pool, etc. But lately a few things are getting on my nerves and it's mostly around gym etiquette: 1. Those who use a machine and do not clean it. I see this all the time. Gross. 2. Dropping weights in the free weight area - loud and annoying. 3. When there are no cubbies available to store people's stuff, instead of getting a locker, people just leave their stuff "near" where they are working out. At one point a guy put his stuff on a ledge in front of the elliptical i was on and asked me if i would "watch it" for him. What? It just seems lately like people don't understand how to act in the gym and there's no one enforcing rules. read more

While the facility is newer than some YMCA's, I wouldn't recommend it to people looking for any level of adult experience or if you want to swim laps at any time other than the morning. With the pool, their priority is definitely the swim team, which practices and takes up all but one lane of the pool after 5:30pm. And don't think that the kids won't end up in that one lane. Even during open swim the pool is swarming with kids that are practically jumping on your head if you don't watch closely. The lifeguards are nearly worthless at stopping it. So far, and I've been a member for 2 months, I have been jumped on, I have backstroked into a child and have been hit by numerous flying kickboards or water noodles. It is like a busy day at a waterpark. Also, don't be fooled by the "Spirit, mind and body" studio. I have no idea what they use it for, but it isn't yoga. They cram that into a tiny corner room. Overall, I don't think you get what you pay for unless you have children and can utilize the youth programs. It is definitely not a place geared for adults and I've already begun looking for a new gym. read more

Gotta start on my New Years resolutions! I was going to join the Foglia Y because it's not too far from where I live, but when I went with a friend today, and it was just too over-crowded. I had to wait 20 minutes to get on a treadmill. The place is very clean, and up-to-date. It would help if they expanded the cardio area. They have a nice pool, for anyone who likes to do laps, but that was never for me. read more

The facility is big - and everything is relatively new but we are looking for a different club because... - My son doesn't enjoy coming here anymore. He's 2.5 and cries at all but one or two of the "Maze" (child care) women. They don't seem to be very compassionate and seem cold, even to me - an adult. When my son started acting differently, it really made me rethink this place. I can't enjoy a workout if I know my son will cry the second I try to leave - and he doesn't have anxiety like this at other times. - Safety! They literally buzz ANYONE into the childcare room. What is the point of a locked door if you buzz just ANYONE in? Do they honestly think someone there to harm a child would LOOK like a psychopath? The parents cards should be what's used to open the doors, IMO. - Open swim is impossible, as others have mentioned, even for children UNLESS paying for swim lessons. So we did that - and he hasn't learned anything. It's just songs and going in circles, lifting them in and out of the water. I would prefer he learn survival tactics and "monkey crawling" on the wall like REAL swim lesson places teach, even at young ages. - Meatheads (and I can lift over my body weight as a female) are constantly leaving the plated machines loaded and try to do their own mini-circuits, getting annoyed when you start unloading their machines. Plus they drop weights ALL THE TIME. The only pros are that it's a generally nice area so you don't get a lot of riff raff if you forget to lock your car one day (whoops!) and there's a nice playground area outside that you can take your child(ren) to. read more

I wish they had towels and key tag cards . Other than that they definitely have nice machines. And you can tell they care about keeping them clean and working . Every machine has a fan and its own tv. read more

Our entire family goes to the YMCA. They have great hours and a clean facility. My son does Kindergarten enrichment and he loves it! We use "mazing" kids facility for my workouts and I've never had a bad experience. The front desk always greets myself and children with a smile and remember us each time. The best YMCA that I have ever been to. We have been members for a few years now. Our daughter actually went to 3 and 4 year preschool there too. She has also done swim lessons which were great. I just joined this YMCA and the fitness facilities are top notch. I used to pay twice as much for a smaller selection of cardio equipment in the city. The facilities are clean, the machine selection is really good and they have seperate studios for yoga, piliates, and cycling in addition to one big studio for classes. All my children have been to the ymca summer camp. They love the counselors. I also use the equipment to work out. My youngest uses them for Aftercare at school. They are fabulous. read more

I joined this YMCA especially for the pool. The have canceled many classes so not much offered. I know it is a business and has to be cost effective but a lot of people left to go to other Ys and LA Fitness. I am going to another Y more often and t is user friendly. read more

Very disappointed. The YMCA raised the membership fee and removed services. Many other issues as well. Here are just a few...1. The south door is no longer open when we come, 2. Hours were reduced on the weekend (we typically used the club during these hours). 3. Its extremely difficult to use the pool in the evening because the lanes are always being used by classes and swim team during the evening, even late. 4. Complained about mold on ceiling tiles in men's locker room years ago and the mold is still there! 5. Steam rooms smell like mold too. 6. Very apparent that employees are no longer happy there. This YMCA lacks attention to the facility. Things like making sure there is soap in the showers would be nice. The pool is often so cold that it's impossible to get a workout in and you spend the rest of the day trying to recover your body heat. When approaching management with the issues they assure me the person in charge of the facility is top notch. Having experience in facilities management area I can tell you the person in charge of the facility has no clue. I brought this to managements attention several times. Things get better for a short period of time but always get worse. Judging by this I would be afraid to trust the management here with assuring the right people are hired within the facility. As a long time member, this YMCA has changed a lot. The facility is top-notch! They always have the latest and greatest equipment from weights to cardio and more - they do an excellent job of keeping equipment up to date and retiring "older" equipment. I think I heard from an employee that they never have cardio equipment that is older than 3 years. They have remodeled nearly every part of the YMCA in its just over ten-year history. They staff the facility very well and with friendly employees and offer plenty of programs and long business hours. I've been very happy with my experience here. read more

Our family has been a member for almost two years. We are currently.looking for a different.health club due to the severity of the lack of cleanliness. Each time over the period of months I have noticed that the locker room is.not being cleaned. From feces on.the wall, smelling of old urine, balls of hair on the floor and the showers not having pressure or even hot water. CEO doesn't want to pay for a good cleaning person and only wants to pay $9 an hour. You get what you pay for. If other members want to be suckered out of $100 a month than I don't feel sorry for them. I will not allow my family to be taken advantage of. I thought YMCA was a Christian place, but If the CEO makes his workers open on Christmas eve and day then he definitely does not care about if the place is clean. Only have a star because you have to give something. I'm tired of complaining about the cleanliness. Going somewhere else. read more

I like the facilities as a whole, but there are also a few things that really bug me. I have a single membership and it is ridiculously expensive for one person when am not using any of the supplemental stuff (like the kids activities, bible study, everything else they have. Wonderful for families, but I don't have kids.) Everyone there is extremely nice and they always remember my name, which I appreciate. The only reason that I am willing to spend that money is because it has a pool, and that is hard to find in a gym. However, I am always getting kicked out of lanes in the morning by the Lake Zurich high school swim team. They better be donating a ton of money, because I am paying a lot to use that pool. They have a great selection of equipment, and their classes are good but the schedule for it is terrible. It is designed with retirees and parents in mind, meaning classes tend to be during the day when I'm at work. I can only make one yoga class a week due to this, and nothing else that I want to do fits my schedule. If they made classes more accesible, I would like it a lot more. Everything is good about this YMCA except it's just not a perfect match for me and my situation. read more
