I have avoided Folk for a long time (years) after repeated episodes of bad service, but as a friend wanted to meet in there i gave it another go. I only ordered a hot chocolate, but it was hot and i didnt have to wait 20 minutes.....so its been a vast improvement on my previous experiences. I'll give it another go and order some food next time (which i have always known to be delicious....it was just the poor service that put me off.....but if thats now improved we could be on to a winner).

There's no doubting it. This place is great. Who would have thought that you could have such a wonderful terrace in a small suburban area of Manchester. When the weather is right, you feel like you could be in Southern Europe. The atmosphere is always great with a friendly, albeit slightly hipster, crowd. Food is usually delicious. The service can be hot or miss. A definite place to try if you're in West Didsbury.

I'm forever going to have a bit of a soft spot for folk as it is where me and my fiancée had our first date. We met up for some brunch and sat in one of the secluded booths round the back and things have worked out well since! The food is good. All home made and delicious. It's only recently that I've been in for drinks, and the covered outside area is great to have a few cheeky pints in good or bad weather. They continuously have 3 hand pull beers on, plus a selection of European bottled beers as well. A decent selection of wines and fizzys means it can cater to most peoples tastes

This place is amazing I highly recommend it! Everything about Folk is great, the food is amazing and really well priced and the staff are really approachable and helpful. We arrived at Folk for Sunday lunch and as soon as you walk in the door you are immediately hit with good vibes. Its only a small venue and when we arrived it was packed, but luckily we managed to find a table. They have an awsome breakfast and lunch menu with just the right amount of choices. I ended up having the lamb burger after some solid advice from our waiter Kenny and I'm glad I took it. The burger was BEAUTIFUL. This place is a must do for anyone looking for not only great food but a great all round experience in West Didsbury. Our total experience cost us just under £20 for a wrap, burger, fries and a beer! The great thing about Folk is that the service is just as good as the food! Kenny our waiter was superb. I can definitely say I'll be back again.

Quirky café and bar in West Didsbury that I've enjoyed everytime I've been there. This time we went for Sunday breakfast, and the eggs royal (poached eggs with salmon and homemade hollandaise), as well as the full English were really yummy. I used to love their pizzas as well (couldn't try this time as they only serve them in the evenings).

Such a quirky little bar in the heart of Chorlton, great atmosphere and reasonable prices. We visited on Saturday night for a drink before our meal, and although it was busy we managed to find a few seats in the back room. The bar is small but well stocked, with a good selection of spirits as well as plenty of beers, ales and ciders on tap. Lovely wine too, and very fair prices. They also have some delicious bar snacks - popcorn, pistachios and homemade sourdough pretzels! The decor is really eclectic - feels like you've walked into a 70s living rooms, with a mish mash of patterns, colours and styles and lots of artwork on the walls. Warm and cosy, with a busy hum of groups and couples chatting away. In the end, we came back later after our meal for a few more drinks, and they had two DJs playing vinyls on the decks. It wasn't sing-and-dance along kind of music, but it had everyone in good spirits. Great little find and look forward to visiting again soon.

And what a place it is. The food is decent pub grub (the burner burger jammed with jalepenos and cheese is a sure-fire hangover cure), the atmosphere local and lively (especially on match days) and the staff are great. In fact, this wholly unpretentious little gem it would be a full-on five star except for the fact that the beer (usually Landlord/Hobgoblin) can be pretty hit and miss. It's divided into two main areas: the main bar and the smarter back room that recently received a lick of paint and some new sofas. The old pool table has gone, but happily the multiple screens are still around - this is a pub that really revels in its sports pub status. The BG is run by an Irish guy, and while not explicitly an Irish pub, the multiple screens often show Irish sports alongside Premier League fixtures, rugby games etc - they're pretty good at letting you now what they're showing via Facebook.

Recently opened, the new restaurant is one of the few on First Street so it is quite easy to find. Obviously we took advantage of the January offer and judging by how busy it was on a Tuesday night, so did a lot of other people! Walking it the vibes were really good with great lounge music playing and people chatting away. The menu and drinks offerings seemed to be the same and prices very reasonable. We all knew what we wanted to have anyway- our favourite burger or pizzas! We started with a sharing platter which would probably suit 2 people more than 4, but everything on the board was cooked perfectly. We especially liked the spicy mayonaise as it had a good kick to it. I really liked the burger- big thick and juicy with accompaniments to match and we ordered 1more mac and cheese to share halfway through our meal cos we couldn't get enough of it! The staff were really friendly and bubbly which made the night an even better experience. We sat on the outside tables, so you might want to watch out for the heaters, as they are really hot! I must say, I was very impressed with this restaurant, and dare I say it, as good as the original!
