It's a classy, extremely high caliber music school disguised in a humble, charming building and taught by humble charming people. Additionally, randomly, their bass teachers are also really, really, ridiculously cool. And smart. And funny?! And for some reason their rooms always smell the best?! Anyway, just my observation as someone who walked by it on the sidewalk once and definitely not the bass teacher with the essential oil diffuser (it's cedarwood oil). On a more serious (quarter) note: enrolling your kids here opens them to an extremely supportive, positive, driven community while at the same time exposes them to the highest caliber private & small group music instruction in Naperville.

Brought my guitar here for a pickup replacement when I was still living in the Chicagoland area. This shop and their tech just shows that they don't care about your gear and will not take care of it. Avoid and bring your instrument to a more reputable place who will take care of your prized instrument. BTW, the repairman's name is Sam.

Even during COVID, he hasn't missed a beat, switching to virtual lessons. His teacher, Adam, is an amazing musician and instructor and Sam, the guitar tech has done excellent work on his guitars. Hix is more than a music shop, they provide opportunities for student musicians to play live at events they sponsor at local clubs and through their Rock School programs. Their events gave my son the confidence to sing and play in front of audiences and he now does it on his own. I would give Hix even more stars if I could. Highly recommended.

I understood that I was already past the return deadline and would only receive about 60% back through their buyback program, which I was willing to accept. However, the experience became extremely frustrating due to how I was treated by staff. I drove 40 minutes to the store yesterday only to be turned away because I didn't have my ID with me. So today, I made another 40-minute drive to try again, only to be turned away a second time because I arrived three minutes after the start of their "closing procedures." I was then told they are not allowed to process buybacks within an hour of closing, despite the store still being open. After spending nearly 2 hours and 40 minutes driving back and forth between both trips, all I walked away with was disappointment and frustration. The lack of communication, consistency, and customer service was extremely disappointing. Because of this experience, I will no longer be shopping at or doing business with Guitar Center. May I remind you gas is at $5 a fucking gallon.

Although I had a teacher who was mean and wasn't nice. He was nice when you meet him but when you get to know you, he's rude and gives you a attitude and he's the other reason why I quit band. His name was Luke Mallicore or something of his last name. I have a cleft pallet and he always sounded annoyed when I try to explain to him that I can't reach to certain high notes and he tells me not to do something with my mouth even though that's the only way for me to play my trombone. I wouldn't recommend to have classes with him.
