Tooth extraction and bone graft from cadaver. Go back for implant. 2 step procedure if the infection requires a bone graft. 1 day same day procedure if less or no damage. Root canal in #31 molar failed when I bit into something hard. Infected with slight pain and loose molar. Couldn't use side of mouth infection was on. Went to dentist for exam, took xrays and told me I needed a bone graft ane extraction. Sent me to Dr Joseph Kim in Mtn View. Wait time was 3w. Went to Follmar for next day service. 1) The extraction is fast. maybe 2m with some pliers. Make sure to ask for your tooth. Mine had a gold crown on it. He showed me the infection, It looks like scar tissue. The body creates that as a barrier between the tooth and infection. 2) the recovery is surprisingly fast after the lidocaine wears off. The norco pain pills work. used 1 then another 1 2h after i screwed up as started the would bleeding by moving around too much. The part nobody tells you is to stay as still as possible for a couple hours for the scab or blood clot to harden. Even little movements affect the would and you can't feel it because of the pain killers. Make sure you stay as still as possible. less movement helps the new stitches and wound to heal up. I started cleaning after feeling good from the pain pill I could sense the bleeding and pain shoot up after I over strained by accident. Hurts. Sat in the recliner. Shocking how fast it heals if you stay still a couple hours. Could eat avocado, cold soup, tofu 9h same day after on the side wo the extraction. No pain even after the pain pills wear off. Get rid of the cotton ASAP. read more

My 8 year old daughter was referred here for two extractions and we had a very positive experience with Dr. Alecia Follmar Wang. I was a bit skeptical at first after reading some of the reviews, and while I can't speak to other doctors at this practice, Dr. Alecia is top notch. 1) She was very objective when discussing the treatment options. She provided her recommendation but was supportive of taking a more conservative approach, which I respect a lot. 2) She had great bedside manner and I appreciated her soft spoken style, given that my daughter and I were both very anxious about the procedures 3) She took her time and things didn't feel rushed 4) She listened and was receptive to all my wishes for how to approach the situation with my daughter who is highly sensitive and not super cooperative (what details not to share, keeping the dental tools out of sight, when to use a bit more force vs not, etc.) 5) They didn't skimp on the staff and were very accommodating. There were 3 very friendly assistants present and helping with the procedure. A custom selection of cartoons was provided 6) The front office was friendly and we didn't need to wait too long 7) As a bonus, I also really liked that they have a modern 360 x-ray machine where you don't need to bite on anything, this was especially helpful for my daughter who has a sensitive gag reflex and a lot of trouble taking regular x-rays. Absolutely smooth and quick wisdom teeth removal. I opted out of going under and it was painless! For that I commend Dr. Kenneth Follmar. For that, I applaud and give 5 stars. Now, before going into the procedure I was sure to ask Dr. Kenneth Follmar that I would like to opt out of any post operation medication. (They give you a generic pain pill after the procedure to help with the pain, which mind you costs no more than $5). I asked if I would be charged for it. He said NO. After the procedure was all said and done, bills were paid. I found I was charged $50+ for a SINGLE generic pain pill. And for that, Dr. Kenneth Follmar. For being a liar. I give you 1 star. I was a bit nervous when my dentist referred me here to have a tooth extraction. She thought the tooth was in pretty bad shape and the procedure might be tricky. As it turned out, Dr. Alicia Follmar-Wang removed my tooth in it's entirety and put in a dissolving stitch within a couple of minutes; it could not have gone easier. Best of all, though I was offered a prescription for pain (which I declined), I ended up needing nothing at all beyond the pain pill they gave me before I left the office. I got referred here for wisdom teeth removal and I couldn't be happier. Everyone in the office from the front desk staff to the nurses to the doctors went above and beyond for me. I expressed my concerns to Dr. Alicia Follmar Wang about my upcoming surgery. She assured me that she and her staff will make it as comfortable as possible. Come my surgery day, they did just that and more. I was so nervous and they made me feel so comfortable, calm and safe. I couldn't have been in better hands. Excellent. I had my bottom left wisdom tooth removed and I didn't feel a thing. I didn't want anesthesia just gas and a double shot of novacaine and that's what I got. The procedure was over in about 2 minutes. Everybody was great. Super nice and super professional. I was almost bummed I didn't do my right one, but I didn't need to do it today so I opted out. He gave me some hydrocodone (thanks for not giving oxy) which was appreciated. With my insurance it was $100. Bleeding is almost non existant 18 hours later. Highly recommend him! read more

I had my wisdom teeth removal surgery performed by Dr. Kenneth Follmar today. I was referred to Dr. Follmar by my primary dentist. I had a consultation and surgery the same day. Dr. Follmar's behavior was highly unprofessional throughout my time in his office. He walked into the room where I was seated with my father and one of his assistants. He looked at me and said "You are not the image of health, so I will not be putting you under general anesthesia." He decided local anesthesia would be a better option for the removal of 4 wisdom teeth. I was awake and aware throughout the entire procedure. He began an I.V and injected medication into my gums. He began by removing my the wisdom teeth. I could feel every chisel, drill, and instrument being used. When he was drilling on my bottom teeth, I was crying and thrashing in pain. He continued with the procedure and ignored my clear signs of pain and distress. He also continued to abruptly and aggressively yank my head from side to side. I tried to tell him that I was not getting enough air to breathe. My mouth was filled with saliva and two different mechanisms over my nose. I began to panic and hyperventilate. He shouted, "Stop hyperventilating! you can breathe!" He finished with the procedure and I was left in shock, shivering uncontrollably, and my hands in pain from gripping the arm rest of the chair so tightly. I would not recommend Dr. Follmar to anyone, ever. read more

I never write reviews. I'm actually one of those 'way too nice to a fault' kind of guys. This is completely uncharacteristic of me to write a review of this sort however I feel obligated to warn folks prior to choosing this office for their next oral or maxillofacial surgery. By far the worst experience with any medical professional that I can recall. I had an extraction procedure for a failed root canal. Aside from Dr. Follmar's condescension and poor bedside manner - the procedure itself was extremely sketchy. The operating table was an antique, and there was no device to keep your head still. Instead, they had what looked like an American Airlines disposable pillow to keep your head propped up during the entire length of the procedure. Dr. Follmar got frustrated with me repeatedly exclaiming "keep your head still!" a difficult feat while your head is sliding back and forth on a cheap nylon pillow while you're literally having tooth roots extracted from your skull with plyers. My neck was extremely sore after the procedure because I had to strain my neck to keep it still. Right before he started to drill the implant into my jaw he noted casually "okay now might be a good time to stay still" .. I told the staff about the pillow situation and however I could tell it fell on deaf ears. The procedure itself aside - the waiting room staff and collections office have also been incredibly rude and condescending. read more

I brought my 5 month pregnant wife in the get a tooth extracted because our regular Dentist didn't want to take on the procedure. It was in a difficult area and my wife being pregnant made it even more of a liability risk. I am glad we went to Dr. Follmar They treated my wife very respectfully and made her feel as comfortable as possible. Before the procedure he came in and introduced himself and gave us a consultation on what was going to happen and what we needed to do. He was very thorough. The procedure hurt me more than it did my wife! Lol The skill and service of Dr. Follmar's office is Top-of-the-line. My wife said that she didn't feel a thing. Also the bill was very reasonable. I recently had all 4 wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Kenneth Follmar. My dentist highly recommended Dr. Follmar because my wisdom tooth extraction was considered risky and complicated. The proximity of the roots of the teeth to the nerves could result in numbness in my tough, chin or lip. Additionally, I am 30 and wisdom teeth should be removed in teenage years or early 20s. Procedure: The procedure was less than an hour and I was under a sedation so I went into a light sleep. The staff and Dr. Follmar could tell I was anxious and did their best to make me feel comfortable. Dr. Follmar told me everything he was doing before I fell asleep. I didn't feel any pain and the staff was incredibly helpful in setting up the equipment and waking me up after the sedation. They provided my father with all of the information on follow up care. Recovery: I was prescribed ibuprofen, hydrocodone, and an anti-biotic for pain and to prevent infection. I took the ibuprofen every 4 hours and the hydrocodone for the for the first 24 hours and felt almost no pain. Dr. Follmar called me the evening after my surgery to check in. All of my recovery matched the expectations the staff had set and provided written instructions so there were no surprises. I had swelling for the first few days and then was almost fully recovered after 1 week. I had two follow up appointments which were short and to ensure I was keeping everything clean. 2 weeks later I was back to eating everything and normal activities. I am glad I took Dr. Follmar's advise in getting all 4 taken out at once. I also had no numbness. Billing: Heidi is amazing! I called ahead to time to understand the price of the surgery. Heidi sent me an estimate, worked directly with my insurance company to send an accurate statement and then printed and emailed me a receipt immediately after my surgery so I could get refund from my FSA. There were no surprises in billing. Overall, I am glad I went with Dr. Follmar because I had no complications, risks and the entire process was painless. read more

Not happy with implants by Dr. Follmar. My husband had 3 implants fail after Dr. Follmar put them in in 2015. He redid them. Now one has failed again. He was dismissive when he went in. Had another x ray which showed the failure. Says if it comes out ill have to redo it. I had one done by him and was not happy. When he cut my gums to expose the pin he did so without sedation which was not okay with me.Had others done elsewhere and nothing is failing. Do not recommend for implants. read more

I have waited six months plus to do this review. First off he was recommended by a Dentist within the same complex but I will not dirty his reputation because of this man. I initially went in for some broken teeth that needed o be extracted. We met, agreed that they needed to be removed and proceeded from there and removed them on the spot that day. All was good until a couple of days later, I started having pieces of bone sticking out and irritating the left side of my tongue and it was extremely painful. After returning for the same issue everyday for a week, I told him we needed to do something about it, and I couldn't live with that pain. So, he suggested that we pull down the inner soft tissue on the left rear of my jaw and grind down the bone spurs causing the pain, so I agreed, signed a piece of paper (liability release) and went to the procedure room. All numbed up, he started cutting and grinding away. Well, when he was done, he ground out the entire left side of my jaw bone. I had him save the piece that he removed and I was shocked when I saw it. So, fast forward. Now my tongue is totally numb on the left side and I cannot taste food as I did before. There has been no change in this since the procedure. I also had a second opinion from another Oral Surgeon, when I asked him if would have removed that chunk of bone, he said there was no reason to remove it when the issue was at the rear of my jaw, not the front. Also, he checked for feeling and there was none. The second opinion Dentist said I had nerve damage from the procedure and referred me to a nerve damage specialist at UCSF, in San Francisco. I not only spent $1000.00 for a procedure that was not needed, but also spent Seven Hundred Dollars for the second opinion (out of my pocket) I cannot afford to go to a major Hospital for something that's is not repairable. So, because this guy was looking for a little extra in his pocket, I'll be paying for the rest of my life with no taste buds and a numb tongue. Sorry, but this guy is a Butcher and I have been with no taste and pain ever since. STAY AWAY!!! read more

Long story short, and I mean so much happened in between, ok well we found these guys from a dental office who heard my cry for help. This Angel tells me, call this place, we called and a sweet rep answered, I told her what a hell of an experience we had and how my honey doesn't know how to ask for help and that I needed an emergency appointment because he is in dire pain. They booked him, immediately attended us, cared for us as people, knew how hard our nights have been because of this pain he had and finally, we met a team who took care of him. I was in the next room as they drilled and chipped away at his pain. I even asked how he was and they gave me a thumbs up that he was doing so well. I can't thank places like these enough for taking care of my honey. We will never forget this experience, thank you We can't wait to get a real good night sleep for once.. his recovery so far is doing well and that alone we thank you! read more

I got my wisdom teeth removed here and that was fine, HOWEVER, on their website they say they are experts in TMJ diagnosis and treatment. I went in several times throughout the years because of how much my jaw bothered me. I had locking every single morning, and my jaw would click when I opened it too wide. At the end of every day my jaw would be sore. I told all of this to Kenneth Follmar. He suggested we take my wisdom teeth out, so we did. But there was no change, so then he told me to use a hot rag and take some motrin (muscle relaxer). So I did. Again, no change. The last time I went, he told me to stop eating chewy foods. I mean, what? Am I never supposed to eat anything?! I felt so hopeless. There was no way to ever fix my jaw! I left crying and called my mom, ranted for a while, and eventually she found me someone in San Francisco who could help. I told my new doctor "another doctor told me to stop chewing chewy foods" and he said "if I had a dime for every time a patient came to me saying that." Turns out I have a big overbite. With my new treatment, I have not had a problem with my jaw locking for the past three months. It's rarely even stiff and that's nothing compared to what I was going through before. I'm so happy with the progress I've made with my new doctor. Kenneth Follmar and and Alicia Follmar (I haven't met Troy but I'm sure this applies to him as well) are very professional and kind people. I do believe they want the best for their patients but I really felt hopeless after I left their office for the last time. I thank them for their attempts to help but I don't think I will be back. So much thanks to Dr. Alicia. After being in severe pain for days and seeing 2 other dentists / doctors and not being helped for various reasons, Dr. Follmar's office was able to get me in the day I was referred to them. Dr Alicia listened to my wishes, and then pulled my tooth where she found an abscess, thus the pain. The only con for me was that the environment was very operating room-like, and therefore a little anxiety provoking vs homey and comforting like I was used to with my life-long dental office in another state. However, the staff was very welcoming and reassuring, and I could just sense the knowledge within Dr. Alicia, allowing me to be very comfortable and confident through the process. I was in and out of the office in 45 min for the initial surgery and 25 minutes for the follow up. Overall a great practice! read more

I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Ken Follmar. Note that there are *three* Dr. Follmars at this practice, make sure you know which one you're seeing when reading these reviews. Dr. Follmar is clearly very experienced and has done a large number of these procedures. He does not waste time with chit chat and is straight to the point. As a result, he can come off as curt and uncaring. But if you ask questions, he goes into great detail to answer them and alleviate your concerns. But you have to ask, he is not going to coddle you. He and his entire staff are very professional and have you and in out of there in no time. My procedure and recovery went exactly as Dr. Follmar explained to me and I have zero qualms about the entire process from consultation to surgery and followup. read more

This guy has the WORSE bedside manner ever. He is the most condescending Doctor I've ever come across. I had my tooth extracted from him and as you can imagine I was nervous before going in. Dr. Kenneth Follomar was obviously getting annoyed with me being nervous. He was so blunt to the point and at some points it felt like he was talking down to me. Half way during the conversation of explaining everything he started explaining things to my girlfriend and left me out of the conversation. Its like he took my nervousness as stupidity? Here is an example, as soon as he pulled the tooth he asked "Not so bad right?" I responded feeling relieved "No not at all it was so quick!" Then he responds with a condescending tone " Would you rather have had me do it slow". Really is that a professional response to your patient? On a brighter note my tooth extraction was done quick and efficiently. I had no pain during the procedure or after. He definitely knows his profession I just think he knows nothing on how to treat a patient. I scrolled down Yelp to read some of the reviews to see if I was the only one and caught him on a bad day but sure enough I came across the same responses. No way. Never again. If I could give no stars I would. I had my wisdom teeth removed here. The staff was really friendly and Dr. Follmar assured me that everything would go off without a hitch. I was informed to watch this video about the procedure and "possible" things that "could" go wrong during surgery. The video freaked me out and I felt unsure about signing the waiver but I was reassured by the staff that the procedure is "standard" and "lots of people get the surgery and have no problems." Two weeks later for my follow up everything seemed cool except for some numbness in my tongue. Dr Follmar stabbed my tongue with the scary metal toothpick, I barely flinched, and he said, "not to worry" that they had only "hit a nerve during surgery and now I have 'possible temporary nerve damage'" and that "if feeling didn't return in month, call back." A month later, no feeling. I was literally biting my tongue during meals, lisping, and lacking taste for certain flavors. I call back and he said, "it's definitely nerve damage, if you don't have feeling back in a year consider it permanent." I was very upset that 1. the nerve damage wasn't mentioned to me when I was leaving recovery (or whomever may have picked me up after the surgery) and 2. that I was pretty much talked into receiving the procedure. And 3. the lack of compensation/concern/sympathy for my new found numbness. Now, I came to this doctor on my dentists recommendation. After swapping Wisdom Teeth Horror Stories with friends, I came across two individuals who saw Dr. Follmar and had similar issues. For the record two years later and I have regained most of the control of my tongue and taste, but my sense of smell is still messed up. read more

The practice/doctor all seem fine but the lady at the billing department was one of the rudest people I've ever had the displeasure of speaking to. When I went for a consultation I was told it would be completely covered by insurance and even double checked with the front desk. A couple months later I was billed for said consultation, and when I called to ask the lady if she can waive it, she responded with "what, $15 is such a hardship for you?" in such a condescending tone....pretty ridiculous. read more

Don't like to go here but.. Dr. Follmar is awesome. Your pain is his main concern and was repeatedly ask if I was in any pain and told that if I felt anything to let him know and he'd address it. Today, 1/28/13 I took my friend, a 94 year old lady from church to see Dr. Follmar. I was really impressed with the doctor and his staff. My lady friend needed to have one of her implants removed, that had become infected. Another Specialist had put in her implants years ago, however, she did not feel comfortable returning to that guy, because he was always over charging her, and she had lost confidence in him. Luckily, my friend's dentist (Dr. Jayne Hoffman) referred us to Dr. Follmar. He looked at the X-rays that we brought with us from the other office. I can't tell you how many times, I've gone to a specialist and they insist on taking their own pictures. So, that made me happy. After inspecting the infected implant, he said that he could perform the extraction, today! Which turned out to be good for my friend, because, she got immediate relief, from the pain the implant was causing her, and she would not have to dwell on a future date to prepare for the surgery. Since my elderly friend is hearing impaired, and I know a little sign language the doctor invited me to come into the surgery room. The assistants who were helping Dr. Follmar were wonderful. Along with a pillow for my friend's head, they also gave her a pillow for her back (she happens to have osteoporosis and it is uncomfortable for her to lay on her back). In addition, they provided her with a warm blanket. I was allowed to stand next to my friend during the procedure to offer comfort, by holding her hand and I think that did a world of good to help her relax. It took the dentist no time at all to remove the implant and stitch her up. There was very little to no blood. The assistant didn't even need to put a gauze in her mouth. But they sent some gauze home, in case she needs it later. They gave her something for the pain, though she said she was fine, before we even left the office. Then they sent a prescription for pain medication and antibiotics to her pharmacy, that I picked up later. In addition, they sent a tiny bottle of peroxide, and a special syringe for salt water to care for the area where the extraction took place. Best of all, the price was affordable. I was so worried that it was going to be a ridiculous price, because of our bad experience with another Specialist. The Staff said it would be okay to make payments if needed, since my friend in on a fixed income, but, it was so affordable that my friend was able to write a check for the entire amount. My daughter may need to get her wisdom teeth removed, and I plan to take her to Dr. Follmar. If, I ever needed implants, I would come to Dr. Follmar's Office for the work. read more

If you don't want to read rest, here is the summary; "AVOID AT ALL COSTS!" I wish I have read the reviews here, it appears like Yelp sorting is all about helping to recover his business. I got the exact attitude just like the others reported here. He keeps treating you with childish attitude and delivers no useful information for the procedure. If you are a surgeon, you definitely need more communication and personal skills to conduct your job. Don't even believe the paid/promoted reviews here, the guy does not even care about your life, tooth or time. Do your research and don't just go to dentist to take care of things. I had no anti anxiety meds and was completely relaxed. It was also the first time I had an extraction that didn't hurt at all. I have deviated nerves and her Made me completely numb!!! I left with written and verbal institutions and better service and technology that the previous oral surgeon I saw who did implants and at 1/3 the price! I made appointments for my daughter and her boyfriend I was so impressed. Seriously. I was the woman who should shake and tear at the dentist just from anticipation of not being numb. I needed an emergency tooth extraction this week. The pain was a "20" on a 1-10'scale. My regular dentist gave me referrals to two oral surgeons. To my surprise, both of those doctors as well as at least 30 others that I called from my contracted doctors did not have appointments until 3 weeks out. I was shocked and would remind the receptionists that it was an emergency. After an hour of dialing numbers dr, Follmar was next on the list. The receptionist gave me 2 options for the same day. It seemed to good to be true so I asked if they would actually extract the tooth or if they were going to do the actual procedure. She said that I would have the procedure since I already had the X-rays and referral. In all honesty it made me wonder how can he have two open spots....did it mean he was not in demand? Not a good dentist? Of course I still booked it since I did Not seem to have options. (Keep in mind I was in severe pain so yelping did not come to mind). The minute I walked in he office I felt safe. Their waiting area was incredibly clean and modern. All of the staff was very attentive and caring. When I went to the exam room Dr Follmar and dental assistant were very patient and explained the procedure and explained that I should be prepared for future options like bride, implants, or even just learn to be without that tooth. I was the. Taken to surgery room and he had the magic touch. It only took less than a minute for the anesthesia to kick in. During the procedure he would explain step by step what he was doing. My biggest surprise was when he calls me at home after his shift just to make sure I was ok and gave me additional instructions. I was in a car accident this summer and required oral surgery and treatment for two dental implants, which would be part of a bridge. I spent more than a few extra appointments with Dr Wang because of my treatment phased questions, check-ups or home care issues. She is top notch! A Stanford and Harvard graduate is who I want to trust and in her soft spoken, caring and confident manner I knew I was in very good hands. They say that dentists have the highest suicide rate of all doctors because they are the most feared by their patients. I hate going to the dentist but there is nothing worse than having to see an oral surgeon. All that changed when I went to see Dr Follmar. He has the most professional staff and great "bedside" manner. He did the pre-numbing before the painful novacaine shots but talk to me through the entire process. Then we moved to the surgical side and out of the dental chair. It seems the tooth was pulled out in no time at all and I was shocked that it was all over. I'd give this Dr. 10 stars if i could. Went to have dental work today. Very intense, extremely informative, compassionate, caring, always concerned about patient welfare. His staff reflects his high standards, they're terrific in every aspect. i don't know about anyone else but when was the last time a doctor called your residence to make sure you weren't having after surgery issues....Dr. Follmar does! Dr ken Follmar truly put me at ease as much as possible , my anxiety and being a heavy smoker, I needed a tooth extracted. He was very straight forward, which was much appreciated. In short, Dr. Follmar is the man. I will be coming back to get the other three wisdoms out in the new year. Very highly recommend. Thank you, Dr. Follmar! Long story: So Friday night, I get a toothache, right? It's cool, probably bit down on something funny, no worries. Saturday, after sleeping like a rock all night, hurts more. Try to eat some scrambled eggs - yeah? Not happening. So.... dentists closed, gotta wait to Monday to try to figure out what's going on. Power through, manage to eat some bomb food from The Refuge in Menlo Park on Saturday night and the spend the entire day Sunday in extreme pain, unable to eat, we'll, anything. Toss and turn all Sunday night, keep the boyfriend awake cause it hurts so bad. Finally, 5:30am comes, I've got two hours til my dentist opens, take my boyfriend to work and wait there for 7:00, stop by my work, tell then what's going on, go to dentist, didn't expect to be seen right away (I have a different dentist normally, I typically wait for a bit before they call me), this time they saw me about 5 minutes after I walked through the door without an appointment. Doctor says it's definitely your wisdom and man, oh man! They are coming in completely horizontally! Like, only I with the already bad gums and overcrowded teeth would get the wisdoms that grow in sideways. Lovely. So. Doc refers me to Dr. Follmar (which makes Mom happy cause, you know, he's her property owner and "isn't that so funny?") and they've got me an appt at 10:15. Like... That fast? That soon? Cue nervosity (that a word? I think that's a word. I got nervous, folks.). Kill time before my appointment at the boyfriends place of employment, starve, sip some water, cringe in pain every time I try to talk or drink the freaking water. Finally, it's time to go see Dr. Follmar. Never have I been so confused in a darn parking lot. But in any case, the office was easy to find and looked comfy cozy. Checked in, filled out the paperwork, was in a chair by 10:30. Watched a lovely, scary video on wisdom teeth and the potential risks (which, even for someone who's had her ear cut open for previous surgeries, was slightly alarming but also somewhat expected. There are a crapload of nerves in your gums that the dentist's can't see on the outside, you know) and waited a bit more. I figured since I'd walked in at my dentists, and that this was a last minute appointment with Dr. Follmar, I'd probably be told that he needed to schedule me for the actual extraction tomorrow or after Christmas (which was gonna be not cool cause I don't wanna hurt over Christmas, that's why I'm here noooow). But, no. By 11:30 I walked out of Dr. Follmar office with one less wisdom tooth. Yay me! I had the local anesthetic cause I'd had water and other than the initial numbing shots and the two nearest my jawbone and tooth, no pain at all! Only slight discomfort from all the pushing and pulling and prodding and drilling but no pain whatsoever. I think my favourite part about the whole thing (other than getting the freaking thing out and getting seen right away) was that Dr. Follmar could tell that I was nervous, and never discouraged me from being so. He assured me a couple times saying that he had "done this a time or two" and that he didn't mean for it to hurt when he was numbing half my skull (not really, but you know what I mean.) and as he pushed and pulled and prodded and drilled he always explained to me what he was doing, why it was done that why and then showed me the tooth (in pieces) as he pulled it out. It was gnarly, let me tell you. In any case, I've never been more happy with the way a dentist has treated me. He was very gentle, always kept me in the loop and wasted no time in getting it out. He made sure afterwards that I was okay and asked a couple times if I had any questions, which was awesome. Very, very highly recommend. read more

Waited a while before writing this review because it was such a horrible experience I really didn't want to think about it, but I had to do it so other people hopefully won't go through what we did. First met him (the doctor) he seemed nice. Told us it would be nothing but comfort and a good experience for our 16 year old who has autism, to get his wisdom teeth out. Couldn't have been further from the truth. Took us literally years to get our son to trust his dentist and it took one hour for him to destroy all of our hard work. Our son went in the day of the procedure all happy and smiling. They sedated him and told us he would be comfortable and not feel any pain. We stepped out into the waiting area. A little later I heard screaming coming from inside the treatment room so I went inside. When I went back in I saw my son was fully awake and they had already started the removal of his teeth. The doctor told us our son was fine but meanwhile he was kicking and begging us to have him stop. We questioned the doctor, why wasnt he asleep or even drowsy. The doctor said he was fine and told us to get out because we were "messing up his surgery". We told him he needed to be sedated more but the damage was done. After the precedure he failed to prescribe any pain meds for our son, which we had to ask for later. When we got home, the combination of the trauma and pain made our poor guy flip out and unfortuanately had severe aggression against mom and dad. The house looked like a crime scene with blood everwhere. A week later we had to go for a follow up. The doctor assured us he would not remember anything about the procedure. Don't believe it. Took us half an hour to get our son to go back in the office cause he was scared to death because he remembered how horrible it was. Read the reviews. The guy is insensitive and condescending. He said he had experience with special needs kids. Hard to believe that. Maybe cause they can't verbally complain about their treatment. I think he's irresponsible and incompetant. He will try to say "I've been doing this for 30 years". Probably way too long at this point. I'm sick to death I let him put his hands on my son. If you love your kids, don't let this doctor anywhere near them. Worst experience of ours and our sons life. read more

I went in for a consultation. first of all, I had to wait 20 minutes for the doctor to take me in and she kept excusing herself. second, after the consultation I got a bill of $230. when I asked why I was charged for a consultation Leslie (office manager/finance department) told me in these words: "This is for the time you spend with doctors who went to a lot of training and took time away from their patients to give me the best possible recommendation", well I never use foul mouth but I've never been charged for a consultation and had I known I would have made other plans to come in a later time or go somewhere else. I will definitely spread the word, maybe they have enough patients so this is their way of convincing people not to have their their treatments done in this office? Maybe moving forward this should be disclosed to all new patients if they want any...? just a thought. And no, I will not have my treatment done at this office. read more

A class act is what Dr. Follmar is, that is the best way I can explain my experience with him and his office staff. You see I am big burly guy but as soon as I walk into a dentist office I turn into Mr. Wimpy and nervous. No seriously, it's kind of sad really but they his staff did not judge me or make me feel like a wimp. The staff was super sweet and totally made me feel comfortable and helped me relax before my procedure and for that I can't thank them enough. I wanna give major props to Heidi, Cathy and Angie and anyone else on the staff that I am forgetting. As for the procedure itself I decided not to do the sedation and be awake. Dr. Follmar numbed me up REALLY well so even though I could see and feel stuff in my mouth, I felt NO pain. Dr. Follmar is all about the patients well being and not the insurance companies and that my Yelp friends is a rare find now a days.
