Dr Follmar did oral surgery on me years ago and did a great job. Haven't had any issues with it at all. Would recommend him to anyone.

I met Dr. Walker, who is extremely experienced and professional. My extraction was a bit tricky because my wisdom teeth were basically lying very close to my lower jaw nerves. Many past doctors had declined to remove the wisdom teeth because of this and potential risk of nerve damage and permanent numbing. Dr. Walker recommended I get more precise scans on my lower jaw so we could get a very clear view of the area, and let me know that if there was any risk of nerve damage he would recommend not proceeding. After reviewing the scan, he was comfortable we could proceed - he had performed similarly difficult extractions without any of those patients getting nerve damage/numbness. The procedure went smoothly, and the team's care post-op was great. I am really impressed with this practice and in particular Dr. Walker. I truly appreciate his thorough and conscientious style, and highly recommend anyone looking for a professional, patient-oriented oral surgeon.

I am very disappointed with my experience today…read more I was given a 3:30 PM appointment because I was concerned about discomfort around my dental implant after a recent procedure. I had to take time off work and rearrange my schedule to make it to the appointment on time. When I arrived, an assistant briefly looked at the area for less than a minute, asked me to open and close my mouth, and then left. About five minutes later, she returned and told me that the doctor was not in the office and that I would need to come back on Monday. My question is simple: if the doctor was not available, why was I given an appointment in the first place? I lost work hours, had to arrange childcare for my two young children, and rushed to get here on time. Now I am being asked to take even more time off because of a scheduling mistake that was not mine. What concerns me most is the lack of empathy and professionalism. No one sincerely apologized for the inconvenience. Instead, it felt as though my time, work obligations, and concerns about a possible implant complication did not matter. If I am worried about a possible infection or problem with my implant, I expect to be seen by a doctor when I am given an appointment. Patients should not have to sacrifice work, income, and family responsibilities only to find out that the doctor is not even present. The quality of treatment may be good, but the customer service and scheduling process were extremely disappointing. Patients' time should be respected just as much as the clinic's schedule.

Root canal in #31 molar failed when I bit into something hard. Infected with slight pain and loose molar. Couldn't use side of mouth infection was on. Went to dentist for exam, took xrays and told me I needed a bone graft ane extraction. Sent me to Dr Joseph Kim in Mtn View. Wait time was 3w. Went to Follmar for next day service. 1) The extraction is fast. maybe 2m with some pliers. Make sure to ask for your tooth. Mine had a gold crown on it. He showed me the infection, It looks like scar tissue. The body creates that as a barrier between the tooth and infection. 2) the recovery is surprisingly fast after the lidocaine wears off. The norco pain pills work. used 1 then another 1 2h after i screwed up as started the would bleeding by moving around too much. The part nobody tells you is to stay as still as possible for a couple hours for the scab or blood clot to harden. Even little movements affect the would and you can't feel it because of the pain killers. Make sure you stay as still as possible. less movement helps the new stitches and wound to heal up. I started cleaning after feeling good from the pain pill I could sense the bleeding and pain shoot up after I over strained by accident. Hurts. Sat in the recliner. Shocking how fast it heals if you stay still a couple hours. Could eat avocado, cold soup, tofu 9h same day after on the side wo the extraction. No pain even after the pain pills wear off. Get rid of the cotton ASAP.

Dr Emison is/was a gifted oral surgeon. He took excellent care of the oral surgery components of my…read morerare syndrome for yrs. He moved East to practice, and sold the Los Gatos practice to Dr Massoomi. I saw this individual twice, once for preop, once for surgery. Dr M came across to me as ignorant of my syndrome (not unusual), but chose not to read the records Dr E had left for him about me. Even after I explained the notes gave a good overview of my syndrome and oral surgery treatment over the last 10 yrs he wouldn't commit to reading my chart. I should have walked out then. I am not a fan of a dr who refuses to read pertinent notes of any highly complex patient. Perhaps he thought he could just 'wing it.' Further, Dr M had great difficulty giving answers to specific, treatment related questions. His primary interest seems to be on 'beauty enhancing' surgeries, while I was only interested in having my medically necessary surgery done. When speaking w/ both me and his staff he tends to turn his back and multitask, which may account for the limited and usually inadequate replies he gave me. In short, Dr M seems to have difficulty w/ highly educated, informed, complex patients; is irritated by the extra time these ppl sometimes require; and if you appear to be hesitant to simply "trust" him he gives off the impression he's offended. The immediate surgery I needed was quite minor, so I let him handle it. The day of surgery he continued to seem irritated, stressed, and unhappy I wasn't just accepting his breezy, shallow answers. The simple surgery was finished, and only required 3 sutures. However, 2 of the 3 sutures came untied *while I was being driven home* from the surgery. This would account for the larger than typical amount of blood loss I had at the incision site. (I didn't realize the sutures had come untied until I felt the suture material loose on the opposite side of my mouth. I then realized why I was bleeding more than typical from such a small surgery.) I called my fantastic dentist that afternoon. He saw me, we agreed I was 'okay,' and the best thing to do was let the area heal and hope the partially opened incision didn't become infected. It did not. I had the only remaining suture removed by a competent oral surgeon on schedule, and never went back to see Dr M. If you need wisdom teeth removed or other common oral surgery done, Dr M might be a competent doc. If you want a doc that treats you w/ respect, is able to acknowledge they don't know everything about every aspect of every rare syndrome that requires a lifetime of oral surgery care, and/or want a doc who simply looks at you when you ask a question and then gives a direct reply to the direct question, RUN, do not walk, to anyone else who is board certified in the Bay Area. Best of luck to you w/ your healthcare needs.

If you have dental anxiety or a true phobia of the dentist, DO NOT COME HERE…read more I knew I should have trusted my gut from the consultation. I left feeling like Dr. Khayat lacked bedside manner, but I brushed it off because I assumed many surgeons are more focused on the procedure than conversation. I regret ignoring that instinct. The day of my extraction, I was extremely anxious. I hadn't had a tooth pulled since I was a teenager, and I'm now in my 40s. The dental assistant was wonderful. She did her best to calm me down and explain what to expect. She is the only reason I'm giving one star. When the doctor walked into the room, he didn't introduce himself or ask how I was doing. He simply said, "I'm going to numb you," gave the injections ("1, 2, 3...shot"), and walked out. I understood that he needed to let the anesthetic take effect, and the assistant confirmed that. When he returned, he gave me more anesthetic then started the extraction. At no point did he explain what he was doing or check on me, even though I was obviously anxious and could feel my heart racing. I understand that extractions involve pressure and pulling. That wasn't the issue. The problem was that he was pulling so forcefully that my head and neck were being jerked to the side, and I finally had to stop the procedure to readjust myself. I was visibly grimacing, yet he never once asked if I was okay or needed a moment. The only thing he said during the procedure was, "The crown is off." Then my tooth broke, which I understand can happen, but again there was no communication about what was happening. At some point my gum was torn during the extraction. No one told me. I only realized it after he placed a stitch, and I had to ask the assistant what had happened to confirm why I needed sutures. When he finished, he simply said the stitch would dissolve in 7-10 days. He still never asked how I was feeling or whether I had any concerns. Before I left, I asked for an emergency phone number in case I had a problem after the procedure. He laughed and said, "You won't need a phone number." That response was incredibly dismissive. Every patient deserves to know how to reach their surgeon if they have concerns after surgery. I'm a healthcare professional myself, and I would never treat a patient the way I was treated that day. Technical skill is only one part of healthcare. Compassion, communication, and making an anxious patient feel safe matter just as much. If you're having IV sedation, your experience may be different. But if you're having a procedure while awake and you're looking for reassurance, communication, and good bedside manner, I cannot recommend this office. I wish I had listened to the other one- and two-star reviews before scheduling my procedure.
