Absolutely delicious food. We started with the crying tiger (char-grilled beef tenderloin, served with tangy dipping sauce), which was tender and perfectly prepared. I admit it, I was having some serious FOMO watching people check in here all the time. So on a recent cold and wet Melbourne night when I had a hankering for something hot, soupy and delicious I decided to give Fomo a crack at my all-time favourite Thai test: Tom Yum. Such a simple dish is sadly so easy to bugger up, and it seems that so many places don't bother to get their Thai soups right because they have all those strifrys and curries to wow people with. I'm pleased to say that Fomo did a mighty fine job. Their Tom Yum is loaded with seafood, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass and what I think was shredded coconut bits. It came served with it's own little candle heater underneath so it remained hot as I slurped my way through it, dipping my sticky rice in to the broth. At just under $17 it certainly wasn't the cheapest Tom Yum I've ever had, but it was satisfying and very tasty and coupled with some rice and a Thai iced milk tea, I got out of there for under $25. Next time I'm keen to return with a group of friends, as the menu here is just a little bit different with seven types of Som Tum (madness!) and all manner of grilled meats to choose from. read more

Organised a team lunch here and was really pleased with the experience. There menu was diverse with plenty of options for everyone. I had the emerald duck which was succulent and came with a side salad and fried tofu. The Basel chill chicken was also delicious with a good amount of fresh chilli for a bit of a kick. The staff were friendly and service fast and efficient. I really liked the bright fun decor and attention to detail. Long benches with stools mean that this can be a great spot when dining solo or for big groups. read more

New Thai place. Woo!! Is it bad that I actually remember old store that housed this new gem? Well, it was a clothing store. So maybe.. Anyways, about Fomo. Ambience is ok, nothing really special. Menu, on the other hand, was very nice. It's organized very neatly (my OCD tendencies are pleased). From small bites, to sharing platters, to main dishes. It will serve all the apetites. Food was good. Special mention goes to Duck Larb.. Was so delicious that I'm willing to ignore tiny bone pieces found in it. Pork belly with Red curry was definitely nice as well. Som tum with green papaya was just ok. Bit too deep-fried for me. Overall, I will definitely go back and try few other things from the menu. The previous lukewarm reviews of this place can be safely ignored - this place is awesome. Criticising an authentic Thai place for being too spicy is like criticising a steakhouse for being too beefy! Fomo makes absolutely sensational food. Pleasant decor, good prices (lunch sets for around $12, big mains for $16), and a big, ambitious menu that knows exactly what it is doing. The grilled meats here are excellent, as are the curries. My favourite dish is the grilled beef lunch set with papaya salad. Today I ordered it "extra Thai spicy" and lost hearing in my right ear for about five minutes - exactly the spice level I was looking for! The little side dipping sauce that came out with the beef was really delicious and complex too. But for spice-avoiders there are plenty of dishes with no spice whatsoever or which can be made mild -- I have been to this place with several friends who hate spice and they still loved it. There's a huge menu here with something for everyone. I honestly don't know what it takes for a Thai place to get 5 stars here if Fomo doesn't. Hands down the best Thai I've had in Melbourne. It came as no surprise to me to find out that this place is owned by the same folks who run the nearby Pad Thai, which makes my favourite green curry in town. read more

I have tried this place a few times and always seem to end up with too-spicy dishes that have "toilet role in the freezer" repercussions the next day. Their version of mild means that you can still speak between bites of food eve if you can't feel you tongue and lips. The ambiance is nouveau Asian with tables and benches. The staff are attentive but may struggle to assist you in ordering with broken English. The menu is large so maybe I just keep picking the wrong dishes but I would suggest avoiding if you have a delicate constitution. read more

I went here on a Friday evening and it was easy to get a place at the bar. The menu is massive but the prices are not cheap and there are heaps of drinks including alcoholic drinks. We perused the menu for quite a while before we could decide. My colleague got a beer and grilled squid. I got the red duck curry and asked for it be spicy. I also got their mango coconut cucumber ginger beer drink. My drink was quite sweet but very refreshing. The red duck curry was the best one I've had in a long time. It had a tom yum undertone, the duck pieces were tender, the spice of the dish went well with the sweet pineapple. Just delicious. For my colleague, it was quite spicy but both of us inhaled the dish. Portion size was smaller than what you normally get for a main in a thai restaurant. The grilled squid for 17 bucks was a disappointment. It was more of an entree than a main and I wish we had been told that. Service was quite slow. Brightly lit. Friendly staff though communication can be an issue. Delicious food. Definitely keen on trying other dishes because otherwise I would have FOMO! read more

This place always satisfies my thai food cravings. Their papaya salad is the best along with their grilled beef with chilli dip. I'm salivating just typing this. If you like a sour kick then the tom yum soup range will do the trick. Overall i really enjoy eating here and the price isn't too expensive read more

My boyfriend and I are regulars here. Nice quality of food, decent proportions, polite staff and quick service. Not as spicy as we usually prefer but we can tackle pretty spicy stuff. The atmosphere is comfortable too, simple, like the dishes. Perfect for when you can't be bothered with fancy, but you still want nice, clean, Asian food. read more

A wide selection of Thai cuisine with a little Chinese influence in it. Decent choice of beers but not wine. The quality of food you get is outstanding. Got the roast belly of pork there for $38. Pricey yes, but oh ... so worth it! Service was pretty good as well. The only thing I was a tiny bit upset about was the space. You're nearly touching elbows with others when seated in the restaurant, and the table space could use abit more real estate.
