This is a continuation of Erik T review since yelp wouldn't let me exceed over a certain text limit I called Fones Gone Wild and told them that they did not resolve the issues and the phone is continuing to do the same exact things when I left it there to get "fixed" again. He told me that everything was working but it really most likely wasn't. I told them I will not send back the dummy phone unless they give me my refund. The associate told me that he would need me to send back my phone AGAIN to test it AGAIN and take it apart AGAIN to see what's wrong with it. I told them I have proof of it not working and they said it doesn't matter that they need the parts back. They really need parts back that aren't working ?? Seriously? I asked if I can keep the dummy phone and send my phone to my phone provider and see if they can do something about the complete mess Fones Gone Wild done to my phone. The associate told me "let me ask the boss man and see and I'll give you a call back"... todays date is July 23rd 2024 and till this day I have not heard back from them or ANYTHING. This review is completely long overdue but here goes my story and experience with Fones Gone Wild. I was out in Las Vegas for EDC weekend which was May 17th 2024. Me and a couple of friends went out that night when we arrived to Las Vegas and my phone was completely broken. I went ahead and came to Fones Gone Wild and they told me they can fix it no problem. I am a very trusting person and I've broke many phones and I've been to many places to fix them and they always get fixed with ZERO issues when the phone is returned to me. The next day I received a call from Fones Gone Wild that my phone is ready to be picked up. Once I got there I tested the phone a little bit and the phone felt completely delayed. I thought maybe it's because the phone needs to adjust to the new screen and everything but boy was I completely wrong. Once I got to the hotel I started using my phone and charged to because we needed to go to the event around 7pm. After my phone was done charging the phone kept blacking out and the screen was not operating at all but the phone was still active and was ringing and everything but I just was not able to do anything with the phone. The screen would randomly black out continuously and constantly. On top of this very tedious issue the phone would get extremely hot , when I would use the phone it would randomly jump from app to app, front camera doesn't even work, when I was swiping on instagram it would randomly just swipe up taking my back to the Home Screen. There was a huge amount of things wrong with the phone. The company name literally speaks for itself, my phone was literally going wild. I had all the issues that were wrong with the phone recorded on my friends phone just as proof in case they needed to see it. I tried going back in Sunday because online it says they are open but they weren't. I had to stay an extra day to literally try to see what we can do. I arrived at Fones Gone Wild Monday afternoon and told them EVERYTHING that is going on with the phone. They recommended that I leave the phone with them for a week and they will provide me with a dummy phone which is a IPhone SE and add "new" parts to the phone because something was "possibly" wrong with the parts they put on my phone. I mean you pay 400$ and you would assume the phone would be completely functional and usable but they did a completely lousy job on my phone. The other option was to take off the parts off my phone and give back my phone completely broken as when I brought it in. They told me they need those parts to use it on other peoples phones in case other people come in with broken phones too. Does that mean that they want parts back from my phone to screw other people over by "fixing" there phone with the parts they gave me even though I told them ALL the issues that were going on with my phone??? I don't know.. but if my phone was acting up that bad with "new" parts then I could only imagine them screwing over the next guy with the parts they gave me. Anyways I went ahead and went with the option to leave my phone there and they give me more "new" parts and I take the dummy phone because I do work in customer service so I need my phone 24/7. Me being me I trusted Fones Gone Wild AGAIN. 4 days go by and they called me and tell me "the phone has been working! No issues ! I ran many apps and nothing was wrong! Fully functional! Everything is perfect!" I got very excited and told them that I will send back the dummy phone once I get my phone and test it and see how everything works. 1 week goes by and I finally get my phone in the mail. I turned on the phone and the phone looked completely the same and obviously I would know if there was a difference or not because I took photos of my phone before I left it with Fones Gone Wild. On top of that the phone still had ALL THE SAME ISSUES when I left it with them. I made sure to take more recordings of the phone acting up before even calling to show them that they did yet again ANOTHER SHITTY JOB. read more

I have an unlocked HTC 10 with a dying battery (battery drained after 60min, OS would flash on and off when the battery was at 50% or less while on idle), and wasn't ready to invest a mortgage payment on a new phone. Like many of today's phones, this one is waterproof, so I couldn't remove the backing to get to the battery, and seeing a YouTube video on how to do it, and how many small parts could possibly break, I decided to seek 3rd Party help. Tom from the Sahara store quoted me $60+tax, and referred me to Maryland Parkway because their location and hours suited my schedule. Dropped off the phone and signed a disclaimer that my touchscreen may damage in process and relieving them of any liability. Of course I expected it not to work, but had to try a $60 option before dropping several benjamins for a new one. I came back in 3 hours, and Kimbro told me it would be another 30min because there were a lot of small parts to negotiate to get to my battery, and put back into place carefully when putting my phone back together again. I was greatly surprised to get my phone back intact, with a new battery, 90 day warranty, and full diagnosis from Kimbro on what caused my battery to die early, and how to avoid it. I visited Fones Gone Wild for 2 reasons. 1: I have a Sprint contract I'm not happy with and I'm looking for a "dumb phone" to buy to stick on the account vs. paying an ETF to cancel it. 2: The sister Fones Gone Wild location on the other side of town seems to get some sketchy Yelp reviews. Sometimes on a Saturday morning about 20 or so reviews show up all from out of towners (like people in New Mexico), and those reviews get flagged. So I'm thinking here's my chance to see what is kinda going on with this chain of stores and maybe I can save some $$ in the process. Once you step inside the store is clean but kinda dingy. They have a lot of phone cases on the walls, and a row of display cases with phones for the major carriers. The cheapest Sprint phone they had was $70, only $30 less than just paying my ETF so I passed on that. They do carry mid range and higher end phones and had a pretty good selection from what I observed. Behind the counter is a service area where a tech was working on a phone...he was heads down into his work but the shop looked organized. They have a list of services including jailbreaking iOS devices, Android devices, etc. Basically anything you would want to do to a phone they seemed to offer a service for. Speaking of customer service, I did have to wait a bit to be recognized upon entering the store as the main guy working was a little busy. But once he was able to talk to me he seemed personable, and most importantly knowledgeable. After working in telecom for over a decade my B.S. detector especially when it comes to phones is highly tuned...and it didn't go off here. In short, despite the sketchy reviews for the other location, if I have a need for phone services that are not typically done at a corporate owned phone service department I'd come here. 3 Stars. Less than 24 hours hours later, the screen had shattered through the screen protector they recommended and my Otterbox, despite my best efforts to keep it safe and having made no impact whatsoever. When I returned to make an exchange using their warranty, they told me that they didn't cover physical damage, despite the fact that I had done no physical damage to the device. Although there were quite a few people in there, they were able to see what I needed and checked to see if there was something they could do for my broken laptop. When I got helped they were very knowledgeable about my laptop and although I did not understand the computer talk. They were able to put it in a way that I could get what they were saying. I felt very comfortable with leaving my laptop with them. And only 45 minutes! Which for me I thought it was going to take hours! So I was really glad they knew what the problem was and what they were doing. When it was finished it was a easy checkout and they reminded me of what happened that may have caused my problem in the first please. So hopefully I won't do it again. I was recommended this place by a friend so came here. I went to bed with my Note 5 working perfectly fine, and I woke up with it 100% unresponsive except for a blue light flashing about once every 4 seconds. So I took it here and Tomer who is the owner said it is likely the LCD. As the LCD had no cracks and the screen had no cracks, and it hadn't been dropped anytime recently I did not think it was the LCD but he said sometimes they just go out. I asked if this was something they could confirm before I agreed to any purchases and he said something to the extent of "yes, we have a screen that we use just for testing so that way we don't go buy an LCD screen without first confirming that is the issue." So I said go ahead and give me a call after the diagnostic. About an hour later Tomer called me and said "yes, it's the LCD screen" I asked if he was able to verify that and he said yes. So I told him to go ahead and do the repair. Fast forward a few hours (supposed to be done same day) and I call them and ask what the update is and the tech tells me the new LCD isn't working, and it may be something else. I said "I thought you guys confirmed this was the LCD?" to which he replied with "we can't confirm it before we try it". I then said "What about the testing screen you guys use before buying the new LCD screen?" To which he replied "what testing screen? We don't have anything like that." Anyways, fast forward a couple days and they said they tried a 2nd LCD screen, and a new battery and that didn't work so they think it's the motherboard that somehow went bad. So obviously I'm quite frustrated the Tomer lied to me about how they have a testing screen and that he could confirm it before I agreed to it, but whatever, a few days later I have my friend pick up the phone since she lives closer and when I get it there was NO LCD SCREEN. I call them and the tech says that when they took the screen off it broke. These things are worth several hundred dollars, and mine was in excellent condition. So obviously it wasn't my LCD screen which was broken since it was working perfectly fine the night before, and they tried two other LCD screens, neither of which worked... So it what something else which broke in my phone, but not the LCD screen. So even if it was the motherboard that had an issue, which again they don't know for sure, they're just guessing that as the most likely thing, I could have still sold the phone for parts, which 95% of that value is going to come from the LCD screen. Now I obviously cannot confirm that the screen wasn't broken, but I would think people who replace LCD screens for a living would probably be able to remove an LCD screen without breaking it... obviously they were able to remove the other two LCD screen's without breaking them. So it seems very suspicious to me that an OEM part worth a few hundred bucks just magically wasn't returned to me. If you're looking at an LCD with no cracks, and a screen with no cracks, and is worth a few hundred bucks, I would think you'd be pretty careful to remove it. Even if it cracked, it would seem to me you would still give the person back the cracked LCD... I mean they gave me back the motherboard that they told me wasn't working, but why not the LCD? In the end, it has been 100% confirmed that these guys lied to me. The owner Tomer told me they have a burner screen for testing to confirm it's the LCD, and then over the phone told me they confirmed that it was the LCD... based upon THIS information, I agreed to the repair, and then the tech told me that's not true, they do not have any way to confirm broken LCD screens (when you can't see cracks obviously) and they do not have any type of a testing screen. Now they give me back a phone with no LCD and tell me it's the motherboard so i'm basically completely screwed because now even if I buy a new motherboard, which from an initial search on Amazon are actually cheaper than the LCD, I now have no LCD! This is completely unacceptable. To clarify I am not upset because my phone didn't get fixed. I brought in a non properly functioning phone, I get that. I am upset because the owner lied to me about them being able to confirm the issue, which then led me to make a decision I may have not otherwise made, because I told them when I was dropping it off "I'm not an expert but I don't think it's the LCD because I didn't drop it recently, it doesn't appear to have water damage. It doesn't have heat damage, and it has no visible cracks" I thought it was a software issue cause I was getting this blue blink every 4 seconds, and I've seen many cracked LCD phones before on Samsung handsets and I've never seen that 4 second blue blink. So if they would have said "We cannot confirm if it's the LCD in any way, and if we try to change it, we won't give you back your old one" I would have not agreed to it at that time and done more research into it. read more

What brought me to Fones Gone Wild was that my Galaxy S5 fone had gone wild. Nearing the end of its life, it was more frequently a dark screen when I pressed the power button. This was not cool. I had visited a few shops to inquire about the problem in addition to a factory reset. When I looked up smartphone repair shops on Yelp, the high rating was encouraging. After work I headed to Fones Gone Wild with the expectation that a tech genius could bring my ailing Galaxy S5 back to life. Contrary to the highly rated reviews I have a mixed opinion of Fones Gone Wild. It is a good and bad opinion. The following two paragraphs discuss the good that summarizes the first half of the visit and the bad that summarizes the second half. The good: After walking into the small shop that is across from UNLV and near Einstein Bagels, I walked passed the display of refurbished phones to where the room dead ended at the service counter. There an older man asked how he can help me. I was a different customer from the majority that walk through the door to replace a screen. The tech genius that I was hoping to bring life back to my phone executed a factory reset on my phone. He carefully opened the Otter Box then displaced the SIM and SD cards. He emphasized if I had everything saved. This was an extraordinary long factory reset. As the Galaxy S5 was erasing everything at a speed slower than molasses, he would gently wipe down the screen. He stated that a factory reset doesn't usually take this long. When the Galaxy S5 finally erased everything, things turned bad. The Bad: You gotta love technology (sarcastic). As soon as the phone booted up it demanded my Samsung password. The problem is that I had been signing into Google to sign onto the smartphone. Every attempt I made to get into the phone was futile. Now the older man went onto other things. I appreciate the time that he took to reset my phone. Now a younger guy was at the counter. I pressed him on what to do to get into the sign in. He said that there was a way around this where he could get me into my Samsung account. It would cost $65. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place. I work very hard for my money and $65 was a lot of money to get me into my Samsung account. By now he was enthusiastically helping the uptenth customer who walked in the door for a screen repair. I knew of a way to get around the Samsung password block at zero cost. After he placed my SIM card and SD card back into my unresponsive Galaxy S5 that was seriously loosing battery life in the process of a factory reboot, I drove up the street to the Clark County Public Library to use the computer. For the equivalent of the $65 that Fones Gone Wild was going to charge me all I did was go to the Samsung account website where I typed in a couple of personal items and tadah I passed the Samsung sign in. It was so obvious that Fones Gone Wild could of imputed this information on their computer or had let me do it. Possibility of a return visit: In conclusion when I get my next smartphone, I plan to pay additional for insurance. When the smartphone breaks, I will have the peace of mind that there is a replacement. There is no reason for me to return here. read more
