A beautiful fountain depicting two Tritons. Located across from the "Mouth of Truth," it was created by Carlo Francesco Bizzaccheri. While gorgeous, it has a lot of competition in Rome. I'd rank it in the second tier. read more

Are there two Fontana dei Tritoni in Roma because there's another in Piazza Barberini that looks different. I very specifically saw the one in Piazza della Bocca della Verità , in front of the basilica of Santa Maria in the Cosmedin neighborhood. This fountain was completed in 1715 and is by Carlo Franceso Bizzacheri (not the Bellini fountain!). The fountain stands on a circular step with an 8-sided basin. In the center, two tritons stand with their arms raised and support a large oyster. The fountain was most recently restored in 2010. When I visited in January 2023, the fountain was dry.
