Where to start... what does this cafe not have? Well, probably best to start with what they do... - 'Cacao' macarons - 'Movenpick' ice cream - Fair trade coffee - Sorbet/ice cream - T2 teas - Fraus drinking chocolate range - Handmade belgium chocolates Those options will send any sweet loving individual to sugar heaven. I've only had breakfast and coffee there and they do have some different breakfast options (which I always like), coffee is not too bad. They have gluten free options and are even open for dinner on Saturdays! It's located right across the river, although you can't really see any water from the cafe itself. The service is not exceptionally fast so if you're in a mad hurry, probably not a place that would leave you feeling particularly happy.

I sampled the Bacon and Egg Burger which came with all the usual suspects but actually had TWO fried eggs on it with bacon and cheese, etc. Very tasty and very filling. Another person tried to the fruit toast - very fresh, tasty and nicely presented. Still another tried the poached eggs and enjoyed them a great deal. Service was fast and friendly and the location just can't be beat with lovely river walks only moments away. Must see place in a must see area.

I've had all day breakfast (poached, sour dough, usual extras), chicken salad was ok (chicken a bit dry), lamb salad much better. My fave so far is the smashed avocado with feta rocket and a poached egg on top. Yum.

In summer it is a great place to relax with the parrots and other bird life. In winter a spot by the fire is sort after, and a warming experience, but i still prefer the balcony with heaters. Stonehouse Cafe is a family run business and located in a historical building. The menu has traditional European and modern Australian cuisine and i can recommend the chicken burger. Filling and fill of flavour and juicy chicken. They do coffee well and the cake cabinet is tempting, look at your own risk. The staff are fast and friendly and I would feel confident recommending this place to locals and tourists alike.

Your bushy surrounds gently lull you into a relaxed state and there is nothing better then strolling down the Yarra as the day breaks and rewarding yourself with a coffee and some naughty baked goods. Perfect start to a busy weekend! There are plenty of sweets to choose from but I can't go past the fresh bread range made in the wood fire oven on-site, and I agree with Cam E, the pumpkin loaf is a winner.

On many occasions I have walked up the river, and stopped in for a vegetarian pie. There's a heap of cakes and sweets on offer, and as they operate as a regular bakery, plenty of breads to choose form, including a great pumpkin loaf. There is a seating area outside, where you can take 5 and enjoy the peaceful surrounds, or simply take you pie back down to the river and eat as you stroll.

My sister ordered her drink, and as my mum and I are vegan, we asked for a soy milk latte & soy milk iced chai, no dairy ice-cream / cream etc (putting a big emphasis on NO dairy). Then we asked the two women working if any of the cakes were vegan as well. Owner / cook confirmed that they weren't so we didn't get any. (Second time it was emphasised no dairy to staff) When putting order into the till, the staff kept getting flustered so we again, confirmed with them the order and our dietary / vegan requirements. (Third time confirming they understood no dairy) Soy iced chai came out with a huge scoop of ice-cream floating on top. I gave them the benefit of the doubt & tasted it and realised it was DAIRY. Brought it to the attention of the staff / owner who brushed it off as "some people just prefer a lighter milk with the drinks" but yet not taking into account that adding full cream dairy ice-cream to the drink would contradict that anyway. I have been a strict vegan for years and it was truly horrible to see these women brush off the fact that they had served me this product like it was no big deal. It's bad enough that they used ice-cream made from the product of a sickening industry after I made sure it wouldn't be present , but it sickens me knowing that if I were lactose intolerant I would have become very very ill from this and they didn't have any regard for it. In the end, they offered me a free drink which I refused multiple times due to the negative experience & general dislike of the service / management but the overpowering, forceful owner decided she'd do what she wanted and gave me a random iced coffee anyway. I understand mistakes happen, but this whole experience was just really frustrating and saddening so definitely won't be going back.
