Went in yesterday to pick up a few things and this store needs some love. Produce sucked. Nothing to choose from esp organic. I made an online order on 9/11/25 between 1-2pm and selected to be picked up at 7pm. I arrived at 7:15 just to give it extra time just in case and the order still wasn't ready. I called because I did not get a notification that my order was ready and stopped get status updates on the shopper's end. After talking to the Asst Store Manager Tina, she advised me what was going on with the delay and apologized for the inconvenience. After waiting in my car for almost 40 minutes, I finally received my groceries and received another apology from the associate and manager, which I appreciated. The manager also gave me a gift card for the long wait. Only to find out after checking over my groceries when I got home that I had items missing but was still charged for it. I immediately called the store right away and talked to Tina again and she advised me that the store can't do refunds to my card per corporate rules and I would have to come back to the store and get my items or refund. This was a terrible experience and made me not want to ever shop at Food Lion again but Tina went above and beyond to turn a negative experience into a positive one. She made sure that I received all of my products, refund and personally wrote out an apology letter for the service I received. I will give Food Lion another chance, thanks to Tina. read more

To whom this may concern, Hello. My name is Diana Coles. About a week ago I called corporate to put a complaint in about one of your managers named Justin who works at the Food Lion in New Castle at the Beaverbrook plaza. I spoke with a lady named Tabitha who guaranteed a phone call back by the next day and it has now been a week. On March 20th, I was doing my weekly grocery shopping at food lion. I live in the apartments right next to the plaza so enjoy walking up there every week and doing all my shopping at all the stores. On this particular day, I noticed employees following me around the store watching me. I payed no mind to it. The manager, who's name I found out later, Justin, had multiple employees come up to me and even had one threaten that I was being watched. I said no problem, I shop here every week, and even showed her my Dollar Tree items with the receipt. My whole shopping experience that day was beyond uncomfortable. To make matters worse, when I am cashing out at the register, Justin (who refused to give me his name) was just staring at me as I was paying for my items. So I asked him, "What are you staring at? You've been harassing me the entire time." And he said "I was making sure you weren't going to steal all those items." I then said, what makes you think that are you serious? I've never seen you before but I am up here every single week." He then proceeded to say "I looked like white trash so he wasn't sure." Never have I been so embarrassed and appalled. I asked his name and he walked off without telling me, once he seen my payment go through. I asked the lady who was cashing me out, ( I believe her name is Melissa ) what his name was. She responded with " I don't know, he is a manager, I think his name is Justin." So, I'm in tears bagging my items up completely embarrassed. I called the store about a week later to make a complaint to the store manager about it. His name is Don. He didn't even have an apology for me or a care in the world. As a manager myself, at Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant ( 5 years) , this is the most unprofessional management and staff I have ever witnessed. When I make my weekly walks I no longer stop at the food lion, I get everything I need in that plaza and then make the DRIVE to Walmart to finish my shopping as I am uncomfortable even going into my own neighborhood store that I have been shopping at weekly for almost a year now. Justin completely profiled me, and was outright racist towards me with offending words and I will not tolerate it. The cashier's are rude, on their phone while checking me out, bagging is horrible, eggs broke because they put heavy things on them. not to mention..They overcharge...the sale price is on the shelf...I put my phone number in at the cashier and it still brings up the regular price, you tell the cashier and she has an attitude. When walking into the store at customer service manager and workers just standing around talking and customers walk in they start talking about the customers. Retrain the cashier's to be more friendly and learn how to bag. Everyone needs customer service skills and upload cash registers so they don't overcharge read more

3 stars for convenience, since it is right in my neighborhood and God forbid the act of having to drive for another 8 minutes to get to my grocery store of choice, on a cold Sunday morning...anything but that. The store is clean and very easy to navigate and the staff is always friendly but it's pricey, doesn't double coupons like most grocery stores and the product variety is limited to the basics (two examples - They don't carry the box of cream of wheat - only instant packs - and I couldn't find my favorite BBQ mustard by French's....trust me on that one, it's a most have). If you're going in for milk, bread basic cereal or other staples you can quickly find them here but you will pay more than you would at some competitors. I'll still frequent because of proximity to my house, Wawa and Walgreens, which I can't NOT visit at least three times per week...old habits are hard to kill. read more

The customer service here is pathetic. 1 cashier open Saturday night, he lets another customer cut in line ahead of us on the pretext the customer had to get something during checkout, then decided to let the customer's kid go shopping for candy, holding us up more. Meanwhile the lame excuse for an MOD, heavy set white guy, black hair and glasses, starts checking out other customers at customer service, never called to help next customer, which was us. Blonde female could have opened other register to deal with line but takes MOD's place, while MOD just walks around doing nothing. We finally got checked out with our one item, were not offered apology for actions, cashier barely said two words to us. MOD needs to learn how to help customers and turn on his register light, hope I don't have to go back here again ! read more

Food Lion is not my first choice for groceries but it's just a few minutes from my house so it's very convenient. They don't sell all the exotic stuff that you'll find at the more popular markets, but they sell the basics and sometimes that's good enough. I can get in & out quickly without spending a fortune and they usually have good sales. The shelves are well stocked and it's usually only crowded around holidays. read more

To be honest, Food Lion is not the store I usually visit for groceries. I come here only when there is a really special deal. My impressions of the store: - Aisles are broad and easy to negotiate. However, I was there when the store wasn't crowded. Is it ever crowded? - The organization isn't what I'm used to. In particular, breakfast items were in three different parts of the store. - Like any other supermarket, there are some inexpensive items and some expensive items. If I didn't have coupons, I'd look for store brands and bulk items, if any. One problem I wish this supermarket chain would work on is the load-to-card coupons. These are coupons on their website that you click on to add to your MVP card. The issue is when you get to the store, there aren't any store circulars, signs or shelf tags to tell you which are the load-to-card coupon items. If you didn't bring a printout of the coupons you added to your MVP card, you may have a hard time identifying those specific items. read more

Everytime I come to Food Lion the women in the deli is incredibly rude. She acts as if I'm bothering her by asking her to cut my deli meats. I mean isn't that her job? She works in the deli. It's gotten to the point were I avoid going there unless I can't help it. She makes you feel very unwelcome. I would post her name but she isn't wearing a name tag. read more

I love Food Lion, and this one is convenient because I work in this shopping center. It's always clean and well stocked. I'm always able to get great deals, especially in the meats dept. I do wish that their mobile app worked properly, I cannot get the coupons section to load, ever! And I wish they had double coupons, but I realize that these 2 issues are beyond control of the store. read more
