This location is a bit dated, produce is limited, and may not have the bells and whistles of a modern Giant, but they nail the key - solid prices. Affordability. Food Lion is considerably more affordable than the local Acme, Target. ShopRite or Giant. If you are a fan of those other spots, I challenge you to start at Produce Junction on Chichester Ave and finish here. You'll save a ton. read more

First of all, the staff is all awesome. This is why they get some stars back. If you're kind and smiling, they will be kind and smiling back. People who bring problems get problems back. The store is usually super busy, so expect long lines. They're moving as fast as they can, so be patient. Everyone saying the meats are bad are absolutely right. I don't think I've EVER bought meat here that wasn't grey. I've yet to find good red meat in the area anywhere, though. read more

I love this Food Lion. The only reason I took a star away is because of some issues with the meat. The sausage and chicken I went to buy were all frozen AND there was not one sticker on them that said previously frozen. It's a shame and I am Leary of it. I do buy the burger and roasts here and the rest of the store I love. People have always been nice. I always find the Southern products I'm looking for so that's why I like it here. read more

This Food Lion is blessed with a great bakery. Truly a hidden gem can't say enough about Nancy. (And another very helpful lady) I wanted a specific cake for Mom's 70th. They were so patient and kind. Nancy went ABOVE AND BEYOND and put her heart into this cake. She kept In contact with me during the decision making to the final design. Oh how beautiful it was !! And, sooo moist. Nancy probably has 30+ years of pastry experience, and I witnessed her passion for her craft and proof that after all these years she still puts her heart into making sure your occasion is extra special with an amazing cake. God bless her for helping me. It was awesome! I sure hope Food Lion appreciates these talented and dedicated ladies and the other ppl on the bakery team so they stay forever. Oh, please. This place is fine! Just fine! My mom recently moved right down the street and I was a little suspect of this Food Lion. For starters, it seems very small, and whenever I see a security guard keeping watching at a grocery store, I start to wonder... However, this place is totally fine. I got a rotisserie chicken here and it was decent - completely on par with chickens I've gotten at Acme, ShopRite, Superfresh, etc. The one thing I will say is that I don't think I'd be able to do a full week's worth of grocery shopping here. If you need a few items in a pinch, this place is perfect. If you're looking to stock up on tons of stuff, you might want to go somewhere bigger. Overall this joint was a lot cleaner than I expected and the girl at the register was quite nice. This store is A-OK, if you ask me! read more

This is a very nice store, considering the area. I just wish they had self checkout. I think it would really improve the customer experience. The store is always clean and organized, and it's easy to find what I need. If I forget my Food Lion card they will give the discount anyway, which I appreciate. I like the store Overall. I wish they had more of an organic section. customer service is a little slow. I do like the food selection otherwise. And the cashiers are always polite to me. The service here is the worst. Some of the cashiers won't even look at you or grunt up one word the whole time they are ringing you up and checking you out even when you say hello. I love this grocery store because it's convenient however trinity takes her time talking and conversing with other co workers and made my check out twice as long as it should've been. She was so worried about everyone else she worked with instead of ringing me up and getting me out the door. Turned my grocery store trip into 30 minutes instead of 5 minutes. read more

Avoid this location! I just stood in the express lane for 15 mins before giving up and leaving. They store was crowded and they didn't have enough lanes open. The cashier in the express lane was talking and not acting like it was an express lane. I use to love this store but this is the second time I have come here and it's been unprofessional and understaffed. Management needs to up the service here. read more

I shop here regularly and have been for years as it is basically in my backyard. They usually have everything I need, but the store does not offer much variety. Acme and Giant offer many more choices on items. Staff is very polite, and the MVP card offers great deals as well as the Shop & Earn program where you can get a lot of money off your order. I wish I can say something good about this place but my attitude went south when I tried buying baby formular and the milk was locked up in a enclosed counter. Ok strange but ok, people must steal the baby formulars. I brought the milk and found out that the milk will expire in a month. That is not a good sign for baby milk. Not much to say about the place. Besides chicken breasts there really aren't any good deals here. Your not gonna get anywhere near the same amount of items as you would at shoprite. The clerk at register 3 did not have anyone in line. I explained I didn't have time to wait, and left the items at the register. He said I should re shelve the items. Very UNcustomer service. Small store, small product choices, small stock of products. Only give one rain check for the entire week of sale, NEVER heard such a crazy southern practice. Oh just a Claymont practice, Wilmington store will give you one each day of sale. Just saying. Shoprite, Acme, Wegmans all give you rain checks for each day they are short during sale of item. a comment for amanda g ..and a note to people not familiar with this store.. i have lived here most of my life and here is some history.. at one time this store was a superfresh and the area behind it was a ghetto. all section 8 housing most people avoided the stores in that center because the stores and customers got robbed regularly. i was one of the first to shop there when food lion came to town and still do..it is not only is it clean , safe, good prices and good staff ... if you have any misgivings about the guard say hello to him on your way in.its just a leftover from the bad old days.. while its true the store is small and some things are limited the prices are by far less than other close food stores. my weekly bill is about 40 less than acme or superfresh i had one incident... i bought my food checked out and left. for some reason i didnt get my eggs that were in another bag. the cashier didnt notice and it might have been mixed with the persons stuff behind me. either way i went back later ready for a fight .. not only was there no bs they were nice to me and i got the eggs i payed for. .. i know its a minor thing but many times you dont know their nature until you have a problem. read more
