They opened the last week of August and I heard there were giveaways for the first 100 shoppers. I unfortunately had meetings or would have dropped by to check it out. The place looks like it's in pristine condition. Security out front, gates when you come in and immediately into the produce section. They have a pretty good selection of produce here. It's larger than what's in New Edinburgh and seems pretty fresh. WAY nicer than what was here at the previous Metro. After the produce section, there's a hot bar on the left I believe. I saw pizza and flatbreads there and a few other goodies. There's a nice prepared and packaged foods in the area as well. Lots of options. Once you get past that, there's a bakery with lots of breads and baked goods. I mean take a look at all those cakes! Unfortunately I've never tried any of these so I really can't comment on the quality. The butcher has some decent quality meats and a decent selection here as well. That's followed up with a seafood section. I don't think there's any fresh seafood but there's a nice selection here. As you walk throughout the store, there's rows of pantry items, snacks, drinks and did I mention snacks?! This Metro feels like it has a nicer selection than the old one. I think it'll have a lot of the things that you need. The staff have been friendly and helpful the few times I've been already. I hope this keeps up. I haven't. The prices are a bit higher than some of the budget grocery spots but I think a bit cheaper than Loblaws. Also if you're on the Loblaws boycott, this is the spot for you. It's great for residents of the area. It saves a trip to Loblaws or Farmboy.

The produce was good quality and well stocked, as were most of the other areas. I haven't been to any other grocery stores in the area to see how their prices compare, but in general, prices seemed reasonable. This could easily be a one-stop grocery shop for folks living in the area, and if you are staying at one of the nearby hotels, as was the case for me, it's a great place to pick up a few supplies.

To this day it's her favourite salad dressing and we try to buy a case (of 12) twice a year! They have an excellent produce selection, seafood, cold cuts, and cool sauces and house brand Farm Boy brand + and excellent bakery! I've noticed they have boned up on prepared foods and have one of the biggest selection I have seen on K-cups for Keurig! It's really a shame we couldn't have FB in Montreal as it excels at providing a different yet fresh and cool selection of different products! Well ,I was pleasantly surprised to find the isles brightly lit and the displays brimming with beautiful fresh Ontario produce. I started ,like most of us ,in the vegetable section. We all sort of weave a delusional right to left pattern as if stumbling through some giant pumpkin labyrinth in the middle of Farmer Cathy's field. We touch, squeeze and smell around the first few turns...meanwhile eyeing the cup cakes and stuffed bread rolls coming up in the distant rows. In our cart we toss some beets ,a bag of rotting carrots and wilted lettuce. None of which will reach the pits of our stomach but end up in a smelly landfill providing a delicious snack for some seagull trying to make it back to Nova Scotia. Ditoxin Methalhydrate and silica nitraxte sounds more like a grade 9 chemistry class then a pack of cupcakes..in the cart they go along with the clang of a frozen pizza that unsurprisingly contains the same ingredients as the cup cakes. I remove my shoes in the meat aisle, my feet were so sore from sitting at my desk all day. As I bent down to remove my shoe I slipped a delicious sirloin steak into my purse."This guy makes a killing...just look at the prices..who cares!" At that time, it was the only Whole Foods in the greater Toronto area. Whole Foods has grown on me, likely because Markham has one and I frequent it often. I don't fit the profile of a typical Whole Foods shopper who tends to carry expensive handbags, must get everything organic, and can afford all things expensive, including tiny bottles of elixirs that extend their years on planet Earth. I like their dairy-free items. I love Carbonaut bread and the entire bakery section, including tiramisu. There are specific items that I get at this store. If I'm looking for romaine lettuce or celery, you'll likely see me at a grocery store that offers these items at normal, cheaper prices. Four years ago, I was in the Glebe and saw this Whole Foods store. I didn't go in. I had already got what I needed at a Metro. On my most recent visit, after spending a few hours exploring the area with a friend, I realized that I needed almond beverage and lemons. I had yet to set foot in any grocery store. They were good reasons to check this store out. I had parked underground. The elevator got me to this store. I exited the elevator on the main floor to hit Winners. This store has a cafe that occupies the entire floor. It was busy just before noon. People must love getting coffee and a baked good here. When I returned just past 5 pm, you could hear crickets on this floor. The cafe was closed. It was different. My local one is still open when I'm there at 7 pm. I have yet to hit the cafe at any Whole Foods location. I took the escalator up to the second floor, which is where the entire supermarket is. I immediately found almond beverage. Organic. Sugar-free. Perfect. I also found the produce area. The Rainier cherries looked good. They were also so expensive that I blocked the price out and moved on. I got a couple of lemons. You could get a bag of six. The price was the same if you calculated how much one lemon was going for, so you might as well pick your own pristine-looking lemons. I looked around. It has the usual salad and hot food bars. You pay by weight, which does add up if you aren't careful. There were lots of snacks and drinks to choose from. A can of flavoured carbonated water was going for $2.69. It makes you wonder how this store determines the prices that it sets. It was enjoyable looking at the plants and flowers. It's a nice grocery store. I had an equally nice woman at the checkout area. I paid for my items with a debit card. I didn't need a bag. My lemons were already in one, so I carried it and my carton of almond beverage to the elevator. It was convenient taking the elevator down to the underground parking lot. I walked to my car, paid for parking, and left. The lemons and almond beverage were great. I'm glad that I got what I needed at this store. I had a fun time shopping here. It's my second Whole Foods that I've been to where it has two floors. We'll see if I return in another four years. Maybe I'll try the cafe... haha! (262)
