While traveling, you sometimes get sick of eating out all the time. Plus, we have this fabulous apartment with a lovely patio and view of the canals. Sometimes we just want to enjoy a bottle of wine and some gourmet bites in the comfort of our flat. Foodware was just what we needed! Well-priced bottles of wine (chilled ones as well) in addition to a diverse selection of prepared dishes for take away (and dine-in too). We had a Spanish white, beets & apples, and potato salad for 13 euro. Best deal we've had in Amsterdam! Lol. Everything was fantastic! Will definitely visit again during our stay here. We were debating on where to go for lunch when a local man walked by and told us about Foodware, his favourite restaurant in Amsterdam. We weren't expecting it to be a trendy, healthy food place, but it certainly lived up to his high praises! First, the man behind the counter was very kind and walked us through each of the courses available. You can order individual courses by weight, or have a meal consisting of an entree and two sides (a grain and a vegetable). I had the vegan curry with spinach rice and a cauliflower medley. Every part of it was phenomenal, and the portions are larger than they look. Tasty, filling, and a great value for price. Even my brother, who had his doubts about this place, loved and became full by his salad. I think it may have converted him and his friends into healthy eaters! Best vegan meal I've ever had, and one of my favourite meals overall in the Netherlands. Highly recommend if you're looking for a healthy, hearty meal that tastes like comfort food and will fill you up! read more

Foodware is pricey, but 100% value for money. What you get is just amazingly delicious! Seriously, I only know little other take away places in Amsterdam that serve this kind of tasty quality food. Everything is carefully prepared and finger licking good. You can combine different dishes into a meal, whether it's with meat or veggie. There's a choice that's mostly available and there are also daily changing dishes. The staff is very friendly and professional and the shop is inviting to eat there. I have to say that this place is like an extension of my kitchen!! I happen to live very close and after a long day at work, were you just want to have food and relax, I always end up getting take away from Foodware. They cook the dishes fresh everyday and they change what's on the menu daily. It's very uncomplicated conform food but very tasty and using good ingredients. You choose one main and two sides. They also have a small but good selection of products (sodas, chocolate, Spanish ham etc) for you to buy. read more
