We stopped in for drinks after a day of sightseeing in the city. The staff was very helpful and friendly and selection of drinks was good. We decided to sit outside and the bartender brought our drinks out and cleaned the table for us. We would definitely stop here again on future trips to Amsterdam. You've been gouged on pricing all day, you still are here where nothing is free... 4.40€ for simple water. Regardless, Each visit has been very pleasant! The staff are very warm, offer ideas on what to eat, describe dishes really well and the food is out quickly. Drinks are made well, and to the table rather quickly. Bathrooms are all the way in the rear and generally clean and well confined. On my first time here I received Fish and chips, they were done incredibly well, and were great. I wasn't a big fan of this place. We got a drink and French fries and garlic bread and were severely dissapointed. We were starving so any food would be good right? Wrong. First the potatoes were not fully cooked and were not crispy at all! The garlic bread was bread with some garlic butter on the side but it was not very garlicky at all! My friend and I went to this place to eat and wanted to sit outside. The food was descent and our waiter was wonderful. Since there was no one around and it was 5 o'clock in the afternoon I suggested to my friend to sit next to me so we can eat and do some people watching. The head waiter told our waiter only one table so my friend obliged to move back. No problem. Maybe its their policy. When we are almost done eating, 2 guys sat further down and did the same thing. However, the head waiter did not say anything and he was the one waiting on them. I let our waiter know as we were leaving. We popped into this place to grab a bit of breakfast before heading out on adventures. While we did not get to experience the hotel side of this pub house we did enjoy a pretty nice breakfast in a warm atmosphere. Place is a nice 3.5 to 4 stars at least on the restaurant/cafe side. We got an English breakfast, some eggs and toast, and soup, and the other people in a party go some sandwiches ( I think? I can't exactly recall). Soup was way larger than expected, eggs and toast were far more than we thought, and the English breakfast was equally as intense in portions. Needless to say... you'll get full. The English looked really good, but that was just way too much for me in the morning. Opting for the soup and a menthe tea. The hot tea was refreshing, but the soup was a little under seasoned. Got to try the eggs and toast. Cooked really well-- nice runny yolk. Had I wanted something heavier this would have been pretty perfect for me. Pros are that they're open early and it's warm plus good food. Staff seems friendly and chill as well. Hotel could be a totally different story, but food wise it wasn't half bad. read more

The hotel side of the house is lacking in sone key areas. First, its extremely noisy. Some noise is to be expected based on location, but the single pane glass and thin walls make it sound like youre sleeping on the street. The walls look pretty bad in the room. They need painting. And the carpet is disgusting, especially in the hallway. Needs to be shampoo cleaned and/or replaced! Gross! On to the positives. Location location location! Just steps away from Dam Square and a 10 minute walk to the Centraal Station. This place is right in the middle of it all! The Pub is great, but I have yet to eat here so I will update the review if I eat here. The bar is cozy and has a great beer selection. read more

I have a hard time understanding the positive reviews as this was the worst quality hotel for the price I have stayed in anywhere. I was in Amsterdam on a busy weekend and so there was little choice in hotels, the room at Corner House was 126€ and atrocious. The heater was broken, when we complained they said they would send someone to fix it and they couldn't give more blankets because they had no idea where they were kept. No one was sent to fix the heater so it was quite cold all night. There is no sound insulation so all the street noise and tram noise is loud enough to keep you from sleeping. The sink was outside of the bathroom and did not have any hot water. The toilet brush was disgustingly filthy. Plugs were coming out of the walls. The two twin beds were not even the same height even though we had gotten a double room. Shower curtain needed replacing as did the clogged up shower head. I've stayed in hostels at 30€ a night which were better maintained and more comfortable. After a terrible night's sleep, someone from the hotel knocks on our door at 10:30 to remind us of the checkout at 11...which we already knew and there was no reason to rudely knock on our door. On checkout, I explained all the points above, and we were offered free coffee which we declined. Too little and way too late. read more

This is a great little place to stop in for a beer or a quick bite to eat. We stumbled upon the Hotel Cafe Corner House after taking some walking tours of the city and were beat. In fact, that is why we chose this place...it was right in front of us and we couldn't walk anymore. It was turning dark outside and did not look that inviting at first. However, the owner/manager/only person that seemed to be working there that night was SOOOO helpful. He sat us outside on the sidewalk, made sure we were comfortable, helped us out with the menu and continued to come back to us to make sure we were okay. We all ordered some form of sandwich and were all quite satisfied. The only frustrating thing about the food is the condiments...they were all in tiny little packages instead of bottles which meant spending 10 minutes opening and squeezing mustard or ketchup on your plate before eating. There were only a handful of people in this tiny little place and everyone was laughing and having a great time. My only complaint about the place is the music they were blaring loudly throughout the place and into the streets........Justin Bieber!!! NOOOOOO!!! I would definitely eat/drink here again and would suggest it to any travelers to Amsterdam. read more

Found this place through bookings.com, very basic accommodations with two single beds, nor roaches nor bedbugs found, very soft mattress, no desk/desktop space in room, , security card access, do not keep valuables in the room, not responsible of missing items, security safe in room doesn't work reliably, shared shower with handheld shower head, and toilet, shower doesn't drain properly with very slow drain. Randomly chose this spot after walking around for a couple hours at night. Sat at the bar and had an Amstel which was damn good. This place had a nice ambiance. Not too loud, not too smokey. Medium size crowd. I was definitely enjoying the scene so I decided to have dinner there. I chose the Hutspot(?) which is a traditional dutch dish -basically mash potatoes, gravy and 2 good size meatballs. That really hit the spot! Dutch comfort food. The food came out fast. The bartender was attentive. I would definitely come here again. Since it is on the corner, it looks like a nice place to sit outside and watch the world go by.
