Some of the nicest people I have ever met belong to this private club that calls itself a "church"…read more My review does not apply to these individuals. Rather, I describe the toxic antics of a different group of people. Example behaviors include: astounding sexism from people who should know better; female aggression and bullying; only-woman-in-the-room syndrome; elitism; and sexual harassment. I cannot think of any legitimate reason for women to sit on my husband's lap or to massage his back during the worship service. Nor can I imagine why someone would find it reasonable to "blow in my ear" during the worship service. More than a few ladies in the congregation regularly called my hubby for bogus three-hour "business meetings" at their homes or in cafes such as Cupz-n-Crepes. I finally gave up on this "church" when I realized it was a one-way relationship. These people were so uninvested that they didn't bother to see me beyond a superficial gender stereotype. Esperanza is a dying organization for obvious reasons. Members blame the pastor, the youth program, the arts program, competition from other churches,....anything and everyone except their own behavior. There is such desperation to save "the club" that many are willing to serve as "flying monkeys" for grandiose narcissists who are expected to attract new sheep......and yes.... I have earned the credentials to make that assessment.....In reflecting on the good and the bad associated with Esperanza.....I would say that overall, my participation here was a huge waste of time and detrimental to my personal life. Participants are valued primarily for their perceived career choices and their perceived social network connections. Not recommended for families.

Thank you very much St. Benedict's and Father Emmanuel. I cannot thank them enough for helping me…read morein my time of need! Father Emmanuel was sent to my mother a little over two weeks ago by her Hospice team. He prayed for my mother. She has end stage dementia. My mother is very close to death and I stopped by St. Benedict's due to it being the nearest Catholic Church near Mom's house. I found Father Emmanuel without knowing he belonged to that church. I did not initially request clergy a few weeks ago and with everything going on with Mom. I did not know who the priest sent was or what church he served at. When I saw Father Emmanuel this morning. I knew a higher calling sent me to St. Benedict's for a reason! I told the father Mom's time is near. Without hesitation he grabbed his gear and jumped into my vehicle to see my mother. He blessed her and gave her Last Rites. I am so grateful for the kismet to allow us to meet again and formally thank him for his prayer! May God Bless Father Emmanuel to allow him to serve his parish and the community for as long as he wishes!

The community includes seniors, singles and families who are super supportive of each other. There are programs for all including community service, counseling, bible study and a lot more. There is also a monthly Spanish mass. Fr. Bob is our Pastor, he is a gentle and caring to all. There is a close relationship with St. John Bosco School which is next door. All are welcome!
