This place is amazing. Easy five stars. After ordering the Foothills Creole Burger and waiting for it to come out, my coworker and I saw the buffet options. We somehow missed the large white board up front advertising the buffet options for the day. We started to regret not ordering the buffet, but we were reassured that if the buffet looked as good as it did, our burgers would not disappoint. And it was so. The Foothills Creole Burger was phenomenal. Easily one of the top 5 best burgers I've ever had, maybe top 3, if I could remember all of them. I might go back looking at food pics just to try to rank burgers. . . What was so good about it? The agglomeration of hearty, quality, southern ingredients with extra pizzazz. 8 oz angus chuck patty topped with Swiss cheese, fried green tomatoes, onion rings, and fried shrimp smothered with house crawfish sauce on a toasted jalapeño potato roll. They had ZERO desserts besides the cake/cheesecake on display. The young girl that met us at the cake counter and checked us out afterward was rude and clearly uninterested in helping anyone. When we initially asked for a couple of desserts that were featured on the menu, she bluntly and rudely stated "All we have is what you see in this case." To top off the poor interaction, when we checked out, two pieces of cake were OVER $20. I had to think back and reassure myself I wasn't somewhere like the Cheesecake Factory. Despite the ridiculous price, this is not the first rude interaction we have had here with this young girl specifically. read more

Waitress was more concerned with her phone. food took forever and when we got it we got the main course and they forgot our appetizers. asparagus was so tuff, all you could eat was the very ends. I ordered a loaded baked potato and got a bare potato, no butter just plain. I also ordered the hamburger steak and asked for extra mushrooms and got zero mushrooms. Wife ordered blackened chicken Alfredo. Came out unseasoned. Just plain Jane chicken Alfredo. The AC was out so we got to enjoy our meal in 85degree heat. We give grace, please know we'll be back to try again. We had a large party but a short time frame. We got to the restaurant at 5pm thinking we could get in and out quickly. Not so much. Didn't get our food until 6:15. Service seemed lost, like they just weren't prepared for a Friday night. The food was really good. The chicken pasta and redfish sandwich were really good. The appetizer portions are not shareable. They tasted great, but not much to share. Not worth ordering unless I just ordered for myself. The store and atmosphere were super cute. Loved this place. We were just passing through on our way to North Carolina to go white water rafting and stopped here for dinner. Our food was decent. I recommend the Blackened Chicken Fettacine, it was super tasty but the sauce was kinda runny, but the flavor was there. They seemed to be having a high school reunion going on at the same time so they were kind of overwhelmed. Our margaritas took way too long at the bar and they weren't that great. How do you give zero stars. Party of 15, we went for a birthday. Food was coming and going, appetizers, entrees all of it all the time. And here I set with nothing in front of me, not just me three of us. Other guest at our table got the food, she cleared their plates and here we set. Finally the comments was made "just put mine in a to go box we are all ready to leave." When the server returned with the other persons food in a to go box she asked and what did you order. To which I replied "Don't worry about it, just cancel the order." She returns with the ticket and a to go box "I just had them box it up for you." scared to open the box. I peeked inside to find a piece of shoe leather looking steak. I order the 16 oz ribeye rare with no sides. I am glad the at least got the guest of honor's order correct. read more

The service was exceptionally good, food came out quickly and our server was friendly and attentive. The hamburger steak was flavorful and among some of the best we've had in the state. The grilled shrimp were tender and the salad was perfectly chilled and chopped. We got the dirty rice as a side and will order every time we come back. 2.5 stars. Only person in the place ordering food. Ordered the catfish, fries, hush puppies and cole slaw. It took way too long to get my food (38 minutes). Catfish had good flavor but was not hot. In fact; the cole slaw and fish seemed to be about the same temp. Fries could have been good had they also been at a good temp. Hush puppies were good. Foothills diner has great choice of sandwiches for lunch and few choices of steak menu for dinner. Their hospitality is very warming for guests eating inside the restaurant. The atmosphere feel you are eating at home. If you interested in live band music you can see them on Friday and Saturday night while eating dinner. Overall I really like this nice cozy diner. The menu price is reasonable. I will definitely come back to this place again. read more

All of our food, save the fried cheese, tasted like it was out of the freezer section at Kroger. We were disappointed, and when I told the staff, we were largely ignored and no apologies were made. The waiter was very good and he was the only redeeming factor of the restaurant. Will not go back and cannot recommend. We were all sad when we left. read more

This restaurant has very good food. It is southern comfort food and steaks. I have eaten lunch there on several occasions. The only thing I don't like is your drink is not included with your meal. You also must pay for water. If you order steak, it only comes with a salad and roll, you must pay extra for baked potato. This wouldn't bother me except their food is a bit pricey. read more

The Foothills Cafe/Diner is overall an ok restaurant in Forest, MS. The food ranges from ok to good depending on what you get. The biggest issue and reason for the 3 stars is because the wait time from the time you order till the time you get your food is a long time. At least it was for our table. All the plates were not brought out together and we had over 10 minutes from the time our first plate came out till our last plate. Also keeping our drinks refilled was a bit of an issue as well. The interior is nice and gives you a boutique cafe feel and the people are real nice that work there and they maybe a bit understaffed from what it looked like to me. The desserts, green beans, and creole burger were really good, but the fried catfish and fries were just ok. They have a daily special as well which was pretty good too. Would I return, maybe, but the wait times would need to improve to be able to get me in an out within an hour an hour or less. They also sell beer and have coke products and take credit cards as well. Their menu is relatively simple, but have several options to change it up if you frequented regularly. I know Forest doesn't have a ton of options in terms of dine in eating, and if you want some southern food this could be the place, but plan for a long wait just in case. Another review from back in Oct 2020 said there were steaks on the menu, but the menu we had tonight had no steaks on it. read more

Ate here as it was recommended by the front desk lady at our hotel. We were disappointed. I ordered the Redfish New Orleans for 26.99 as it came highly recommended by our waitress. The sauce had a good flavor but was very salty. My side order sweet potato was over cooked. I ended up not finishing my meal and let me tell ya, I always finish meals. My wife ordered the Redfish Po Boy (14.99) and she said it was very good. She did have to send her curly fries back as they were cold and limp. The fresh batch was perfect. We thought the prices were a little high but since we aren't from Mississippi, we weren't sure if this was an average price for redfish. One more thing...When we walked in we were confused as to how seating worked. We stood at the front and waited a few minutes for someone to assist us. My wife ended up walking around the checkout counter (which is in the middle of the store front) and asked other customers seated at a table if we should seat ourselves and the customer said yes. Great little place if you're on your way through Forest. Probably one of the few, nicer sit-down restaurants in Forest. On the weekends they have a live band which is great. Our food was great, our service was average. The servers were young and seemed to be overloaded with the crowd (although it wasn't completely packed I'd say 70%). All in all we'd go again for the food and atmosphere. read more
