I want to love Footlights because they are the only dance/ballet store around that I know of. But that's what makes this review even worse...being the only one you'd think they'd be amazing. Sadly, I get frustrated every time I go. Last time they insisted they "couldn't find me in the computer" and kept looking for my personal info...which was frustrating because I was in a hurry, and I just needed to GO. Why do you need my personal info?? My money is still green no matter what my name, address, and bra size is!! Then this time I walked in and was greeted kindly. The associate was helpful...but I saw signs EVERYWHERE saying leotards were buy one get one 50 percent off...these signs did not indicate an end date. There were literally signs in each room saying this. So I took extra time and picked out six leotards...and mentioned the good sale as I headed to checkout and was told "oh I'm sorry, that ended yesterday." Another person walked by and said "sorry about that". But are you really sorry? Three employees in the store and while I checked out NOT ONE moved to remove the signs. This is false advertising and its RUDE. The associate told me "we just haven't had time to remove those signs"...yet when I walked in she was straightening racks and business had been open for HOURS. I think this is my last time in footlights...I can find most everything they sell online and not get mixed messages/blatant lies about sales and Spanish Inquisition to make a purchase. The customer shouldn't have to pay full price when dozens of signs have been accidentally left up. I think I'll report them to the BBB for false advertising. read more

I am not a dancer, but I came here for shoes for a dance-exercise class because my running shoes weren't exactly right. Everyone was quite helpful, though the shoes didn't really do the trick in the end. I went in and explained that because I have a high arch, I needed a a supportive shoe for my class, because often my arches end up hurting. When I went in, one woman began helping me, and then she was called away (?), and another woman finished helping me select a shoe. This felt a little strange. The first woman to assist me suggested a really "cute" shoe that is almost completely flat and has very little support. The second woman said it will not do the trick, even though it is very cute. I ended up with a very reasonably priced Capezio shoe that has soles on the heel and balls of the feet/toes only, with a flexible arch. Since buying these shoes, I've gone back to my running shoes because the Capezio soles are so hard, they don't offer enough cushion for all the hopping/jumping/high impact of my classes. I will wear them again because they are smooth and slide on the carpet, which is handy, but they aren't exactly right. I wished the women (either one of them) knew enough about the exercise classes and my feet to suggest the right shoe to me. A third woman checked me out and told me about their affinity programs, etc. They have a lot of cute clothes in here, and they may just be more suited to dancer-dancers than dance exercisers. read more

My daughter is a dancer and they always have everything you need. They also put you in the system and know what dance school you go to and they know exactly what you need at that school. They are always have a lot of people so go be prepared to wait to try on shoes but the staff is always great and do their best to get people out quickly without making you feel like they spend quality time with your needs read more

I am stunned at the poor quality of customer service at this business. I was interested in purchasing a pair of women's tap shoes today. I was met by a young man that attempted to assist me find what I needed. I asked a few specific questions of which he knew none of the answers and I remarked that he must not be a tapper. I then asked to see a particular style and wanted to try on an 8.5 and a 9.0. I realized I was on my on as far as determining fit, etc. when he returned with the tap shoes he informs me that there would be a 10.00 fitting fee if I decided not to purchase any shoes at that time. I asked him to repeat the fact that I would be charged a fee to try on shoes and he confirmed that was the policy. He also attempted to explain that they are a local store and many times people try on and then order online. Interesting don't you think? This is the only store in existence that is met with this problem??? I think not! What they did not realize is I'd researched the online sites and the cost of the shoes plus shipping might have been a difference of 5.00. No big deal! What they also did not know is that I intend to purchase at least 2 more pairs of shoes w/in the next 6-12 months. So the moral of the story is... Greed is never a good character trait.... Your ten bucks lost you about 230.00 of future business. Never ever shop here. read more
