I'm from Nashville, TN where there is real southern hospitality and greetings are a standard when someone walks into a place of business. When a customer walks into an establishment, at least look up to acknowledge their existence! Anyway, besides the ridiculous first encounter I had with the two lovely ladies who were supposedly employees, they have a fantastic selection of boots. I ended up getting a pair despite such a distaste for the quality of service due to me falling in love with a pair of Ariats. Overall, Crossroads has a wonderful selection but poor customer service. We browsed with clear intent to purchase for nearly 20 minutes and were treated as though we were invisible. What we did receive was surveillance. An employee followed us at a distance the entire time -- not to help, but to watch. Then a regular customer walked in. The transformation was immediate. Multiple employees rushed to greet him, addressed him as "Doctor," asked about his weekend plans, and provided the attentive, personalized service that had apparently been unavailable to us moments earlier. For context: my husband is also a physician. The difference? They didn't know that. Luxury retail isn't about recognizing certain titles or catering to familiar faces. It's about consistency, professionalism, and making every customer feel welcome. What we witnessed was selective hospitality -- enthusiastic deference for the "right" person, suspicion and indifference for the rest. That isn't upscale. It's exclusionary. We won't be returning, and we'll gladly spend our money at Mr. Wicks who understands respect should not be conditional.

However, I have not yet received my order nor any indication from shipper as to when to expect product or how to track it, or even verification that my order was received by them from Splashwear (SW) and is in progress. I called SW to check on this, as the initial confirmation of my order did not include a timeframe. They seem to not realize that a customer might expect this kind of information, even if the product is being shipped from someone other than themselves. SW acknowledged being a bit overwhelmed, even while priding themselves on being a very small company (and offered to research my order and get back to me) - good for them, and I wish them success, but am baffled as to why there is no standard provision in their procedures for this basic information, nor apparently an understanding why, lacking this information, a customer might feel as though their order has fallen into a black hole. Covid short-staffing possibilities at manufacturer/shipper may be a real factor - but the apparently-standard lack of information seems like it would be fixable, once SW realizes that basic customer expectation.
