While it is on the pricey side, which is…read morewhy I mostly window-shopped during my time as a poor college student at OSU, now as an alumni I love to come in on football weekends and pick up some cute orange gear as well as browse the excellent NorthFace selection that is frequently carried in smaller sizes than other shops. The main reason for my 5-star rating is due to the level of service that I received with my latest purchase. During the coldest Bedlam game I have ever experienced, I stopped in looking for the warmest coat I could find. I found a great (and not cheap) puffy NorthFace jacket that I purchased and carried with me until the game started. Unfortunately when I put it on, I noticed several small slits at the bottom of the jacket where the stuffing was coming out. At the end of the game, we brought the jacket back and they offered to personally take the jacket to their NorthFace rep in Dallas to be either repaired or replaced under the NorthFace warranty. Unfortunately after inspection, the NorthFace rep could not help as it was apparently a burn and not a tear (which I am sure I did at some point when walking through numerous tailgates with heaters blazing). Nonetheless, the store manager offered to have it repaired at their tailor at no cost to me, and even had it shipped to my house in Tulsa! I greatly appreciated the level of service that I often do not experience at other retailers these days and plan to continue shopping at The Wooden Nickel in the future.

I ended up getting my husband an anniversary gift there which consisted of a unique Patagonia jacket and some gloves that will allow him to wear while operating his i-phone. Even though my budget only allowed for this, I spent a lot of time in this cozy store and was inspired to do some more adventurous things and get geared up there. There is a shoe, kids, gear, mens & women's section with lots of variety in style. If you don't see the size you need, the store will order it in! The location is awesome on Cherry Street. There are a couple other active wear stores on each side of Ascent so all of your active wear needs can be met on one block of shopping! Again, some really great gift opportunities. Workers were all over the store and they asked many times if I needed assistance with anything. I plan to shop there more often in the future. I ordered a clothing item from belk.com for a gift and had it delivered to the recipient. I had…read morenever shopped with Belk before and noticed all the banners on the website about how easy returns were if you weren't happy with a purchase. I checked the size chart and ordered the appropriate size but when it arrived it was extremely too large. I couldn't find any information on the website about how to do an exchange so I called the customer service number and was told the gift recipient would have to pay shipping to send the item back and then reorder it, at a higher price, and pay for shipping again. When I told them this is horrible because she just wanted to smaller size, they said the only way to exchange is in store. The nearest store is almost 1,800 miles away. I'll never purchase anything from them again.
