I was very impressed with this practice and especially with Emily, the nurse practitioner I saw. I had been seeing a different Forefront location in Virginia, and though they were good, they were not nearly as thorough as Emily was during her skin check and exam. I was very impressed, and I will return soon to have a mole excised and lab-tested. The office was clean, and the front desk staff were efficient. I'm happy that Forefront Dermatology has a location closer to where I live now and doesn't require me to travel back to Virginia for my visits. Emily and this location are keepers. Most of us going to a dermatologist, I'd wager, enter with some degree of hopefulness that a licensed dermatologist will listen, provide care, and seek to help patients in a compassionate manner. This is not what I found with my less-than-10-minute appointment with Jane Chew. I should have left after interacting with the receptionists; nevertheless, I hoped that speaking with the dermatologist herself would prove my initial impressions of the practice wrong. While discussing my concerns with Jane, she laughed multiple times, did not take the time to carefully look at my skin or ask me thoughtful questions, and quickly prescribed two topicals when I disclosed my hesitancy with taking pills long-term for a solution. By no means will I be returning here. Instead, I'll be running right back to the incredibly kind and thorough dermatologist I saw in the Midwest over 15 hours away, who truly knows how to treat a patient like a human. I have NEVER had a dermatologist laugh at me or treat me so impersonally as here. Please, if you're looking for someone to care and empathize with you as you seek holistic solutions for a skin issue you are suffering from, do not go here. read more

I was told appointment time was 10:10. I arrived at 10. By 10:35 still had not been seen. Spoke to front desk and they said doctor was behind, but I noticed that on the desk there was a paper that showed my actual appointment time was 10:30 and not 10:10 like I was told. They don't mind making the patient wait, but god forbid you make the doctor wait. It's disrespectful and an in appropriate way to conduct a business. read more

My wife was concerned about a growth on her leg and our primary care suggested we get it checked out. The doctor was hasty, pressured her into removing the lesion, had it biopsied (thankfully not cancerous), and whisked us away with very little else. Worse, insurance won't cover the removal or the lab work because they said it shouldn't have been biopsied at all, it was obvious that the lesion wasn't cancerous. It feels like an absolute scam that we get stuck with more than $300 of bills for something an ethical doctor would have said wasn't a cause for concern. Forefront's billing office said they already adjusted the cost down (from close to $1000) so I should at least be thankful to only be paying $300+. But it feels so manipulative. We should be able to trust our healthcare professionals are there to care for us, not exploit our lack of medical expertise. read more

Brought in my 3 year old after checking over the phone that they treat children. We arrived early and I did the check in before coming and we waited 20 minutes past our appointment time. My son was very patient and well behaved, when we got called back to see the dr he even said he was excited. Dr Harvey refused to attempt removing the bump on his neck because she said she "can't risk him hitting or kicking her" because she has had children react that way to the numbing shot before. My child has never acted that way. I know it would hurt and he would cry but I also know he would be ok with me holding him but she still refused even though he was being perfectly calm. If she was going to refuse to treat a child I should've been told that over the phone instead of wasting my time and money. I work in the medical field and dealing with kids or any difficult patient is part of the job. If you can't handle it then maybe should have a different one or make it clear you won't see kids. read more

After a long lifetime in the sun, I'll find a troublesome spot a few times a year. When I do, I go to Forefront Dermatology even though I no longer live close by. I see Dr. Chew who is great at quickly identifying the lesion and treating it right then and there. Her staff is very friendly and efficient, too. I won't go anywhere else. read more

I love this place! I came here yesterday for an appointment. This was my first appointment here and actually the only dermatologist facility I have seen since I been here in Maryland. I was running super late from another appointment in Silver Spring and I got there right at 3:00. I was supposed to be there at 2:45 since I was a new patient, but they still saw me and saw I was rushing so I was very happy they still let me have my appointment. I was seen by Adrian and he was simply the best. He took his time with me to explain what he thought my best treatment would be for the issue I was having and answered all my questions. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a family type feel when they go to a Dermatologist. What I loved the most was there was no pressure to buy any products and I wasn't talked into any expensive treatments. That is a bonus for me :) The only thing I would say is that the staff can smile a bit more. They were very nice and pleasant, but most of them were on their phones and didn't look too happy when I first got there. Overall - go here! You will not be unhappy. They do a great job :) read more

Terrible customer service at the front desk.Waited 1.5 months for appt and kept Waiting in the waiting room 45 minutes after my appointment time and literally the people at the front desk could not care less. However the doctors were extremely nice and professional. The office space however is a bit depressing. I'll probably go elsewhere simply because the atmosphere. read more

BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! I should have read the prior review before I took my daughter. She had a suspicious mole and the doctor removed it. They did not inform us it was going to cost $200. They ended up sending us to collections and ultimately charged us $260! Never going back here again. Dr did not even have a good beside manner :( read more

Best dermatologist! I had been to several dermatologist in the past and as a teen and hated them because they didn't seem to care. I was referred to Jeff Fratelli by a friend and am so happy I went! I was in my early 20's suffering from awful hormonal acne I could not seem to find a fix for. Jeff was fantastic!! He immediately knew a fix and I truly felt that he was empathetic to my situation. I have been seeing him for about 5 years now - acne free (for med refills each year and for any other derm needs that arise) and am more than happy with him and his office. I have referred several people to Jeff and hear rave reviews from them as well. You will not regret seeing Jeff! As far as the office and logistics: I was able to make an appointment as a new patient within 2 or 3 weeks - which isn't bad. I didn't need any referral and they call my phone 2 days before my appointment to remind me. If I arrive a few minutes early I am always seen right on time, never any waiting. read more

I have been coming to this office for 12 years and have received the BEST medical care from Dr. Jeff Frattali. He has been truly innovative and able to problem solve to resolve my worst skin issues. I saw several dermatologists before finding him and none of them were able to help me, none had his wonderful demeanor and calming bedside manner. However, the billing staff and practices at this office are terribly lacking. The woman who does billing is extremely rude, unprofessional and negligent. Prior to my last appointment (with new insurance) I called both of my insurance companies and the Columbia Dermatology office to speak with the woman in the billing department to ensure that both the clinician and the office participated with my insurance. She actually cut me off when I tried to ask her questions and she was quite abrasive with me. A couple months after my appointment, I called the office to provide my new address as I had just moved, and to make sure I did not have any balance on my account. I was informed of a $60.00 charge. After multiple additional calls, it was determined this was due to a billing error, as the billing person DID NOT SUBMIT TO MY PRIMARY INSURANCE COMPANY. She only submitted to my secondary, and thus I was charged $60 DUE TO HER ERROR. She told me there was nothing she could do as this "IS PATIENT'S RESPONSIBILITY," despite the fact that she billed the wrong insurance. Also, I NEVER RECEIVED A BILL of these charges from this office and would not have even found out that I "owed" this amount had I not called them and asked. Just got done with my initial appointment at Columbia Dermatology and I could not be happier. I would give more than 5 stars if possible! I was referred by two friends who come here and I saw Adrian Feijoo. My appointment was scheduled for 8:30, and even though I was not seen until 8:50, it was simply because Adrian takes his time truly listening to your concerns and carefully explaining EVERY option possible to you. It is no surprise this practice is very busy (I was one of the first people to arrive and by the time I left there was a full lobby) but they handle it well. Dr. Feijoo answered all my questions and made me feel at peace regarding my autoimmune disorder. He is caring, knowledgeable and has a very professional bedside manner. Make an appointment if you're in need of a dermatologist! You will not be disappointed- I have nothing but high praise for Adrian. read more

Worst dermatologist office ever! Absolutely terrible customer service. Scheduled me for a 4:30 appointment I arrived a few minutes after as I was lost and the office is very hard to find. I called multiple times prior to my appointment time to let them know I was lost and to try to get directions. I arrived a couple minutes later and staff was leaving and the dermatologist was in another appointment which made no sense to me if I had a 430 appointment with her how merely five minutes later she could already be in another meeting yet the office was still closed. The staff who spoke to me was incredibly rude didn't offer any solution except for we can call you tomorrow. I will never visit this office again and I'm very disappointed on my experience there this afternoon. To drive over 30 minutes to an appointment and be just a few minutes late and denied because of things out of your control is completely ridiculous, do better! read more

My experience with this center is not the greatest. First, I had to wait for almost three months to get an appointment (being a new patient). I'm sure they could have put me in but it looks like new patients have to be penalized. Second, before my appointment no one from the practice called to confirm the appointment. Lucky me I had the appointment on my phone. Be careful, they do charge for no show. Then, at the office, they refused to let me in unless I get the referral letter on certain format. I had to call my PCP and ask them to fax that thing now. When seeing the Dr, the visit lasted 5 minutes. It was pretty much a sales consultation. The Dr said my brown spots are not an issue and if I need to get rid of them I have to pay $$$ that's it. I was really not happy so I left and never coming back. I wish I could get my co-pay back. read more

Terrible customer service. I was not notified that I was going to be seen by a PA when I made my appointment and was still charged the same co-pay as if seeing a physician. I was charged for the copay beforehand and when I asked to speak to a manager I was told somebody would call me but nobody ever did. When talking to Dr. Chew by phone she was unapologetic for the poor customer service and how abrasive her front staff is and refused to refund me my copay. read more

This was my 4th visit to the Columbia Dermatology Center. Each time I saw Anna Reznikova. Couldn't be more pleased with each and every one of my experiences there. Anna's examinations were thorough and all my questions answered. Scheduling each appointment was also very easy and the staff could not have been any more accommodating. The office staff at Dr. Chew's practice were unpleasant and unhelpful. After waiting 2 months for an appointment- again- the new patient syndrome- I was told when I tried to check in that they didn't take my insurance. They did not inform me on the phone during the scheduling. My primary care provider had referred me to the practice. The office staff offered no help and made me feel awful as if I should have known better?! Not an experience I would want anyone else to endure. read more

I've seen great results since I've started visiting Columbia Dermatology Center to treat my acne. It took a few appointments to find something that works for me, but the PA was able to help me without resorting to Accutane. My skin is much clearer now! It's not perfect, but as Jeff Frattali says, acne can only be treated, not cured. The office never seems very busy, so I never have to wait long for my appointment (this may be because I go early in the morning). I just wish it took less time out of my day to leave work, get to the office, have a five minute appointment to get a new prescription when needed, and back again. I'm not sure if they will do new prescriptions over the phone. read more

Yesterday I called in to make an appointment to Dr Chew but the female that answered the phone said, the latest appointment will be December. I said, I wanted to make an appointment to have botox treatment and she immediately told me that 3:00 pm is available for Dr. Chew. I went there and the receptionist asked me if I have an appointment and I said I have an appointment to see Dr Chew. She asked me if that's my first appointment and I said, "yes". She gave me a form to complete and after finishing the form I gave it back to her. After waiting for 15 to 20 minutes, a female came out and told me that I have to pay the initial consultation fee of $50.00 upfront and I have to paying cash or credit card. I said, I thought it was free for initial consultation and she said, the $50.00 will be deducted after I choose to have a procedure or treatment done. I paid the consultation fee first and then waited for a few minutes and a female came out again and escorted to the treatment room. She said, Dr Chew will be in a few minutes. Dr Chew came in and she and discussed what I want to be done. She recommended restylane which is I noticed was posted in the treatment room. She said, botox is not recommended to remove the frown line between the eyes but recommended restylane to fill in the lines between the eyes and the results will be immediate. I said, my main concern was the frown lines and the folds between my cheeks and nose and said, she is going to fill in the frown lines and put a little in my cheeks. I said, how much it cost and she said, $500 per syringe, so I decided to have it done. Before the procedure was done, the female assistant came back again and told me that I had to the lady by the window inside and pay the procedure fee before the treatment. I felt so bad, This is the first time I had gone to a cosmetic office that I felt like they don't trust you at all. "Pay first before you are treated" is their motto and the most I didn't like iis the staff is not friendly at all. When I told the assistant that Dr Chew said, it was $500, she siad our fee is $550 that's including the consultation fee. She went back to Dr Chew's office and she came out and she told me that Dr Chew wrote $550. So, I paiid and had the procedure done. There's was immediate result although it was not the result I am expecting. I thought it will immediately erase the lines because of the filler but when I woke up this morning the lines and wrinkles are still there. I will wait for a couple of days and see. She siad, the restylane might last for 4-6 months. read more

I have mixed feelings about Columbia Dermatology. I normally met with Jeff who was awesome. He was always very knowledgable and understanding. I have nothing bad to say about Dr. Chew. Having met her only once, she was hospitable and extremely friendly. I never felt rushed although it seems as though my appointments never lasted more than ten minutes. It was pretty much, I tell them my problems and they give me a solution- in and out. Here is where it gets a bit hairy... I haven't been to Columbia Dermatology for almost two years. At almost every appointment that I could remember, I left there with a bad taste in my mouth because of their rude staff and nurses. The last straw was when I missed an appointment because of a family emergency. It was my fault that I did not call to cancel the appointment but good grief, who remembers to do those things under circumstances like death of a family member?... I got a nasty voicemail stating that I missed my appointment and because it was my third missed appointment, I would be charged. It was an absolute crazy time in my life and I could care less about being charged for an appointment, so I let it be. Later down the road, I called the office to see if they were willing to waive the cancelation fee under the circumstances but the lady I spoke to cut me off with the rudest most noncholant additude. Needless to say, that was my final straw with Columbia Dermatology. I hope Dr. Chew and Jeff replaced their staff since then. Its a shame... they are great practioners. I will definetely not be returning nor will I recommend them to any one else. read more
