Caveat Emptor!!! Started off badly and this should have been a sign......made an appointment to see a specific car. Arrived for the appointment and discovered the car I wanted to see was sold. I travelled one hour to get to the dealership but received no call to inform me the car had been sold. The GM, sitting in adjacent office, overheard the conversation going sideways and quickly suggested another car - same make and model. Turns out the car WAS nice and we bought it. It did have a check engine light on but the salesperson said the part that was needed 'was ordered'. Said it was an O2 sensor (keep that in mind). Oh, and dealership was going to tack on approximately $800 in dealer fees! Obviously, that was negotiated to a saner amount but in retrospect, I should have negotiated even more. Drove home thinking that the fix and 'detailing' the car would have been just a couple days. That was a Tuesday. I called the following Saturday. (Note that there was absolutely no call(s) from the dealership as to the status of this car undergoing repairs.) I was told the car would be ready Monday. Monday arrived and we could not make the trip that day. Tuesday (now one week later) I called the salesperson - twice - no answer and NO voicemail. I tried connecting with any other salesperson. No answer and NO voicemail. Finally, I contacted their 'award winning' Service Department. The person who answered the phone, after giving my name and the car I bought, could not find the car in the system. He sounded confused as to whether the car was even there! I thought they had sold it. Finally, he told me they were waiting on one part. I asked what part? he said a 'turn signal stalk' and once that's fixed, the car would be cleaned and inspected. I asked what was the reason for the check engine light. He said it was a purge valve. Apparently, it wasn't an O2 sensor as I was told. Note that had I made the trip Monday, that car would not have been ready! I became a bit irate over the lack of communication from the dealership and demanded better communication going forward. Ten minutes after I hung up, I receive a text from the salesperson informed me the car will be ready for pickup - THAT AFTERNOON! Now I'm no car mechanic, but I'm not sure you can replace a turn signal stalk in a matter of a half hour and have the car cleaned and ready for delivery. We pick up the car on Wednesday, eight days after the sale. We had asked for two issues to be addressed. One, eliminate the STRONG odor of cigarette smoke in the car. Salesperson said they have a chemical to do that. It wasn't done. Two, clean a minor stain on the inside of the 'A' pillar. It wasn't done. The car appeared to have been vacuumed and washed but the wheels were caked in brake dust and accumulated grime. I was so incensed about my experience, I just took the key and drove home. When I arrived home, I cleaned the inside of the windows. If I could post pictures of the nicotine that was on those paper towels, I would. It was gross. I also cleaned the wheels with wheel cleaner and they now look like new. I know it's early, but the car seems good. HOWEVER, the absolute lack of customer service, awareness, communication and let's call it like I see it - honesty - is sorely lacking. Take this review for what it's worth. read more

Purchased my vehicle less than a week ago thought everything was fine and then I went to drive it up a hill and the vehicle started to studder, check engine light came on and flashed and traction light came on and it said service ESC system. Since that time period I did not drive it much did not want to cause further damage but then I am bringing it to the dealership to be fixed and it does it again and this time it was worse. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I bought a car from them and I didn't even drive it 50 miles and the heat stopped working and the check engine light came on. Come to find out the Cadillac converter is going bad. They try and tell me it didn't show no codes before I drove away with it. They try and justify it all by saying we are gonna fix the heat at no cost to me and the Cadillac converter is still under factory warranty but it's my responsibility to take it to the dealership to get it fixed. It's a 2020 Nissan. They guarantee me the heater will get fixed the next day and the next day comes the part supposedly never showed up. So they reordered it. BUYER BEWARE Here's the review that you're looking for and that the dealership encourage I leave to tell people ALL about them.... Came in 4/19 Jordan and Kyle were chefs' kiss. Before leaving we noticed a hairline fracture in the windshield of the drivers side showed Jordan and Kyle...they promised we'd get a phone call on 4/21 as they're closed on Sundays, once we got home we notice the vanity mirror was smashed also on the drivers side. From 4/19-5/5 there have been several phone calls promising someone will get back to us. Finally on 5/5 it was escalated to a manger Amar said he'd call me back in an hour to hour and a half. Then Kyle calls telling me the hairline fracture passed inspection (he also said that on 4/19) and the mirror is considered cosmetic. Then proceeded to tell me I can call my insurance company to tell them a rock hit my windshield so basically commit insurance fraud; along with other reasons why things could have been missed....from it's dark where the detailers work to it was probably missed..... ALL BS....As big as the crack is I'm sure it was seen, please do yourselves a favor double, triple check your car even with the excitement of getting a new car, go to another dealership that has integrity. read more

I bought a truck from Forest City Chevrolet in October 2024. The vehicle was advertised as having remote start. While the remote start works through a $10/month app, the key fob does not function for this feature. Initially, the dealership tried to argue that the vehicle didn't have remote start--something I had already confirmed. They purchased the truck as a repossession out of Indiana, so I can only assume they didn't receive the proper key with it. Since October, I've been back to the dealership six times trying to get this issue resolved. I was originally assured that the problem would be covered, as it was their oversight not to verify the remote start worked properly. I was also told it was likely just a glitch. The service manager at the time, Jeff, promised this would be taken care of. They ordered a new key but failed to program it three separate times. Eventually, after opening a case with General Motors, they determined two keys were needed to make the system work. I agreed to this, but at no point was there any discussion of cost, as I was repeatedly told it would be covered. Now, they have my truck and are demanding that I pay nearly $1,000 for something they sold me as part of the vehicle and promised to fix. This is absolutely ridiculous. They sold the truck as advertised with remote start, acknowledged the issue, and committed to resolving it--but now they're trying to push the cost onto me. Additionally, they force customers to pay a $1,000 LoJack fee as it's "pre-installed" on their vehicles. Three months later, I still don't have access to the LoJack system, even though it's supposed to be transferred to the customer. This feels like yet another example of them over-promising and under-delivering. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you're considering buying a vehicle or getting service done here. A person's word should mean something, but Forest City Chevrolet has shown they don't stand behind their promises or value their customers. I financed a car with 660 credit at 18% apr. This dealership will not work with you on a lower rate. They treated me like I had a 500 credit score. The warranty I purchased through them was $4,500 which they didn't hold true to, 2 days after I bought the car I had issues with the passenger door, it ended up being an internal wire cut in half or ripped apart, so when I locked the car the alarm would go off. I took the vehicle back and I was told a leak was found they replaced my window switch and outer seal and charged me $360 I said what about the warranty they said I bought it as is. (Vehicle sat for a whole week 7 days) when I picked it up there was dirt and skid marks on my brand new car tires my father just helped me buy because the ones on there were mismatched and fucked also had a big shitstain of caked up dirt on the back of my trunk almost like they had a dirty car part sitting on there. Me being me I paid and went about my day saying well at least it's fixed, nope alarm comes on right after locking it. Then I took the panel apart and found the broken wire. Received a pre approval in the mail for $24-$55,000 from capital one, was never there before & was already in the market and started looking for a vehicle when this came in the mail, we decided to go up. My fiancé and myself since a had the preapproval. They ran my credit once to see what was up, but here it is a month after I bought the vehicle and found out they ran my credit 8 times & every time they run your credit you lose points. I went out and looked at the one vehicle they limited me too. He said i qualified for only one vehicle and I wanted a pick up. He showed me this 2021 Colorado. I asked him if it was four-wheel-drive. He said yes it was I said can it pull a trailer and does it have a hitch he said yes it does. I went out and examine the vehicle. The hitch wasn't on there. I asked to inspect the vehicle. Make sure that hitch is gonna be on there and put new tires the tires were bald and make sure the oil was changed and I'll buy the vehicle. They wouldn't take my vehicle as a trade-in so I had to put $1000 down. long story short I'd come back to pick up the vehicle. It's inspected one sticker for safety, you need two. He refused said he didn't have to, and would not, the hitch wasn't on the truck and said that's not his problem and a quote so I give you an advice from a retired disabled veteran. They didn't need to run my credit that many times with a pre approval. They weren't happy about it because they couldn't run it more. asked to address the issues I had and refused all avenues treated me like I was lesser than person in the middle of buying it, but I needed a vehicle and it was a decent deal so I took it but don't waste your time up there. They messed up my financing which screwed up my credit score because I had two loans on my credit all of a sudden even though I only approved one. When I got my paperwork for my loan that I signed up with them, the loan amount was over $4000 more. It took over a month for them to correct the issue, and the only way I was able to get the issue corrected was to get the Attorney General involved. They also sold a $4000 ceramic coating to me which was never applied. Three days after purchasing the vehicle I poured some water on the paint to see if any water beading would occur, which is supposed to happen with ceramic coating and it did not occur. Whatever you do, do not buy an electric vehicle from the dealership. They will tack on a $4000 ceramic coating charge, so they can take your EV tax credit. They will not apply a ceramic coating and just steal the money from you. read more

I brought my Jeep Grand Cherokee in for PA state inspection. The vehicle was purchased from Hornbeck. After waiting 2 hours the service manager tells me the vehicle needed front rotors and pads in order to pass. After waiting so long to be told it needed brakes I told him to fail it so I could get out of there. The rotors are not scored or damaged to my eye and the pads appear to have life left to them and it's odd that they didn't list the reason for failing the vehicle in writing on the service order or receipt. Also the vehicle passed emissions and I just noticed they didn't put a new passed sticker on. PA inspection is too subjective and allows dealers and repair shops too much discretion and encourages scammy practices. read more

All I needed was the insurance info and the down payment. Went less then 24 hours later to wait in the office to be told the exact opposite. I'm sorry to say that I will never ever come to this place again. I was told this after the fact that I shouldn't have went in the first place. The only good thing about my experience was that I found a car that I really liked. But they decided to add a whole bunch of bulk charges for a car that was around $17,000 That ended up around $24,000. I ended up waiting hours for stuff that should've taken minutes. Two financial institutions, sent me letters denying me because the car was overpriced. Literally that's what the letters said. And I should have suspected, because when they come back to me telling me that I can pick any other newer car for the same amount of payments. So you kept checking financial institutions until finally one, took it at your price. Shame on you like I said, I wish that I could post pictures. Lastly, you took my old car that was broken down without giving me anything for it. Just had me sign it over and I literally got nothing for it. I don't expect this company to make things right because too many people tell me that they won't. So I leave this as a lesson learned and hope that others be careful. I don't understand the negative reviews so I wanted to help set the record straight. I cannot speak for sales as I have not purchased a vehicle from them, but the service and detailing departments are positively ROCKING it! Last year we bought a new car just before the pandemic shut everything down. We called around asking about getting PA registration and inspection as we had purchased it in New York. The service department at Hornbeck told us there was a waiting list due to the situation and they could put us on it. They called back much more quickly than I expected and took us in. We were treated like royalty and then I asked them to detail our car. Angel took care of it and she was spotless and perfect. A few weeks ago I received a text from the service department suggesting a "once over" of our car for the season. Since we have a sports car, we don't drive it in the winter so after pulling her out of the garage this spring, we took her back to Hornbeck (not the closest Chevy dealer to us, but definitely the best). Again, the service department was amazing, all smiles, and super happy to help in any way possible. I scheduled an in-depth detailing of the car and I cannot rave enough about how Angel and his team took care of the car! They just opened a new detailing area and I can't recommend them enough for ANY vehicle. The attention to detail and absolute babying our car received is unparalleled! It was as if they loved our car as much as us! Angel and his crew took the time to go over everything they did and even got a very large scratch out without my having brought it to their attention. My wife and I went to hornbeck's on a Wednesday. Sat there for about three and a half to 5 hours. When we decided to leave they told us they would call us back Friday. Thursday was Thanksgiving so that made sense. Friday came and went Saturday came in went Monday we got our one and only return call and it was nothing remotely close to what we asked for. She just decided to stick Us in whatever. We asked her to keep looking haven't had a return call from the sales woman since. The following day we put $700 down and got a beautiful Nissan cheap warranty so far so good zero issues. The sales woman still has never contacted us but horned back itself text me twice a day about coming up to look at a vehicle. Which is mind blowing cuz I tell every single one of them I don't need one I got one somewhere else. Hornbeck Chevrolet please get your act together. If somebody else could approve me with less down on a more expensive vehicle with a decent interest rate and a four year loan I don't understand why a big franchise dealership couldn't do it or even return our calls. We decided to go out of our way to Hornbeck Chevrolet due to a recall, we wanted the dealership that originally sold the car to handle it. The service was top notch and affordable even with a few bumps caused by GM and previous inspection, First, we made arrangements through a GM website for the recall. We received a form e-mail that appeared to be from the dealership that they would confirm our appointment shortly. We didn't get a confirmation and sent a follow-up email by replying as instructed in the 1st email. No response from that and I was upset and a call to the dealership that was going to be about their customer no-service turned into a pleasent call about how GM website is not forwarding the emails (I confirmed this with GM). Second, we asked to have our inspection done with the recall and they found a problem. Now, I had a mechanic look at it to make sure it would past inspection and I wanted proof of the problem. Too many stories on the net about abuses in inspections out their. Turned out our mechanic did miss a small problem and a quick repair and return and the car was inspected. No extra charges or hassels for wanting our mechanic to check it out again, Third, in the rush to get out. I left my wife's tablet at the dealership. A call in the morning a another ride had it back to her in good shape. Something like that would be easy to walk off. So, they were very professional and understanding through everything as the comedy of errors played out. I would definetly recommend them to friends and family. read more

Bought a car, said they needed to fix the struts and front axle. But it was safe to drive(per manager Mike Munchnik). He said that the parts would be in next week. 3 days after getting the car it developed a shaking in the front end. So on July 2nd I emailed Mike to let him know. He passed the buck to the service manager Michaelangelo. On the 3rd of July Michaelangelo called and we discussed the problem. He believed that the problem was a bushing attached to the front end and that it shouldn't be a problem and that it would be corrected when the axle came in the following week. So with the assurance of 2 employees I ran to the store for a few things on July 4th. Because of the vibration I drove under 50 and used back roads instead of the highway. 5 miles from home the front drivers side tire flew off. ( now I did check the tires on the 2nd when the vibration started and saw nothing except there was no jack or tire iron in with the spare). If I had driven on the highway there's a good chance the car would have flipped and rolled. My wife and i would probably been hurt or killed. Since it was a holiday weekend I emailed Mike the manager about the situation. While they did tow the vehicle and make numerous repairs, I've yet to hear from the manager about some type of reparation becauce of almost being killed. And since my wife was in the car and now refuses to get in or use it. I asked for some type reparation including some money off the price of the car, and a little cash back for my wifes anxiety and PTSD concerning the car. Michaelangelo did drop off the car and a jack, but he's not the one to make money decisions. So having no recourse I'm in a situation that could have been avoided with just a minor settlement. So after reading this its up to you if you want to purchase a vehicle here that has probably been cheating people for a 100 years. read more

To who this may concern I am a permanently disabled person living on a fixed income I went up to hornbeck's Chevrolet in Forest City after I heard their ad several times on the radio I was looking at an SUV but got talked out of it by a Salesman and he's then sold me a Kia Soul which when I drove the car I heard a few noises they said they were going to go over the car and inspect the car and they'll check everything out I said I heard a noise coming from the rear wheel and I also heard a little tapping in the engine they said it needed brakes and that they installed them then they said the tapping noise will go away after the car warms up the second day I was back up the garage cuz I called them and I said that happened didn't go away after the car warmed up then their mechanic told me that all kia souls do that make noise meanwhile to find out there was no brake shoes on the rear of the car then going to several places like the Kia dealership down in Blakely and a mechanic in Carbondale Pike Street Auto I was given some papers from both places saying the motor is no good in the car that it's blowing oil out the exhaust I notified Hornbeck Chevrolet manager several times I I got nowhere then he told me he had a Chevy track 2016 with 40,000 miles on it that he was going to put me in so they went and got my hopes up I went up I took the vehicle for a ride it was better than what I'm going through with the Kia Soul that they sold me then to find out he comes up with a story of what we'll see what yours is worth on a trading I said no you won't you will reimburse me every time I put into the car and every payment I made and the $2,000 I gave you down also and you will get me a different vehicle well after I've said that to him it came up to where oh well we can't put you in the Chevy track you need a cosigner I said well I didn't have a cosigner before so why do I need one now while my credit score was like six and a half meanwhile I kept getting to run around month after month week after week even when I was trying to get a hold of the salesman that saw me the vehicle and they kept telling me he was with another customer or he was outside showing a car which he wasn't there because they fired him two days after they told me the car not telling me but let me call up there looking for him getting lied to Plus getting lied to the mechanics one mechanic at Hornbeck said to me oh that's squeaking you here in the back just drive it 500 miles it will go away while the squeaking in the back of the car coming from The Hub was there was no brake shoes never mind no brakes no brake shoes sad but true so now I got a vehicle $14,000 that's not worth the room it takes up because they won't put me in another vehicle now without a cosigner sad but true so if you go to hornbeck's make sure you have your pants pulled up and your belt on tight I'm still waiting it's only been seven and a half eight months now trying to get out of this car since the day I got it and they lied and lie and lie and the management got more stories than a book and the state police that were called said they can't do nothing because the judge that they go to sticks up for people like this place hornbeck's Chevrolet fire beware or just bring Vaseline with you read more

In spite of my "1 star" review I have to give a huge shout out to Shannon (didn't catch her last name) and Bridget Rivera! They both deserve 5 stars as they were not only accommodating they both went above and beyond from a otherwise truly terrible vehicle buying experience. The website listed a 2017 Tahoe with 11,453 miles for a list price of 39.550.00.(It will not allow me to upload a picture of the screenshot I took of it for the review) What a great deal right?! Bridget immediately jumped right into the paperwork. A few minutes later "AL Hornbeck" told Bridget he would like to complete this sale and I was promptly moved to his desk (I felt extremely bad for Bridget as I'm sure she receives commissions off of sales). "AL" proceeded to tell me (and loudly) that the price listed online was a mistake (the day before it was listed for $ 44,550 BUT had been dropped overnight on THEIR website) and he would not budge on the price of $44,550. I asked if he would at least meet me somewhere in the middle since it WAS advertised (false advertising?) for significantly less and they claim on their website that Customer Satisfaction is #1! Again "AL" rudely refused and at that point left the showroom and never returned. I was feeling a bit uncomfortable about the entire scene that he made when Bridget came over and took over. Bottom line, I bought the Tahoe (for more than the listed great price but a price I agreed on. Oh and about 1,000 more miles were on it than were originally listed). Bridget professionally completed the paperwork and had me on my way. I most likely will NOT return to Horneck Chevrolet as long as AL is a salesman there, his behavior was not only rude but unprofessional. Bought a truck 2017 received two free oil changes. First oil change which comes with tire rotation was done and they did not rotate the tires. Went for the second oil change on 5/9 again they did not rotate the tires as expected and when my husband checked the oil today the level was 2 1/2" above the full line on dip stick. Call to manager of service ,Phil, who told him ,when he explained the problem and that the truck takes only six quarts per manual, that is only a suggested amt of oil.....they put in 7 normally. I went to Hornbeck Chevrolet to get my rear window replaced. It had shattered and completely fell apart. The service department at Hornbeck wanted nothing to do with me. They blew me off and told me the window would not be covered on the warranty. I called Chevrolet customer service explain to them what had happened and they told me it would be covered. They told me to call Sylvester Chevrolet , I went there and 123 the window was replaced on the warranty. The service department at Sylvester could not have been more helpful and nice. I would tell people not to waste their time at Hornbeck Chevrolet, travel another 15 minutes and see the folks at Sylvester Chevrolet. Again, thanks so much Ryan! read more

I heard adds on the Radio, how hey will approve you regardless of how bad your credit is. 400 down, no issues. "Quote the add was like this, if you do not drive after hearing this, "You are either stupid or deaf" "In Quote" Nonetheless I applied online someone called me I went in on July 16, 2018 spoke to Bridget, she lost my credit app, ran another one on me. Waited an hour and she finally came back to tell me we can get you approved but the bank said it must be under $10,000. She said we do not have vehicles for that price on our lot, we have some coming from wholesale in a few days. No call back so I called left a message for Bridget twice in a week, no return, I then called left a message for a manager names Chris no call back. I then go to there website and they have many vehicles for under $10,000. I feel I was mislead false advisement, so froth, this place is yet another example of poor adds by dealerships for bad credit. You are tossed aside like nothing.
