I do NOT recommend this dental office. Although I have insurance, the receptionist told me I would need to pay for X-rays in order to be seen. Not sure why she waited until I arrived to tell me that. It seemed the only solution she had to offer was for me to pay for X-rays. Even after I asked her to request the X-rays from my previous dentist and reschedule my appointment, she still made it seem like paying for X-rays was my only option or that she didn't want to help me. I hope Dr. Kim reads this review so that he can retrain his staff on proper protocols and procedures. Based on my experience with the receptionist, it seems like the office is only focused on making money and not taking care of patients. Update: If there was an insurance issue, I should have been informed PRIOR to my appointment - not upon arrival. In addition, your office offered no other alternative than to pay for new X-rays. I was very reasonable and asked for my appointment to be rescheduled until after my X-rays were sent to your office. To be clear, your office did not reach out to my previous dentist until AFTER I arrived and AFTER I asked them to. There was no initiative on your part. read more

Watch your bill!!! They will overbill and make you pay for X-rays! I paid, but after reaching out to my insurance, they are still trying to figure out why I paid over $90 when I should have only been responsible for $24. Forest Dental Cafe is hands down the best dental office in the area and the best I've had a long-relationship with. I love that I can call and a person answers (not a machine) to answer a question or make/change an appointment. I also appreciate the option for Saturday appointments. More than anything, Dr. Kim is a superior dentist who is highly intelligent, who genuinely cares and who values the relationships he has with his patients. I feel very valued as a loyal patient. Also, he is conservative in his approach, never rushing procedures onto the schedule rather he identifies what needs to be observed and gives extra attention and feedback for prevention. I had high hopes for this place, I went for the first time to do a tooth filling and it was the worst experience I ever had with a dentist! I was supposed to get fillings for my two front teeth, but after he was done and I left the place I found out that one tooth was SCRATCHY! And the other was looking so weird that the two teeth didn't look any close to each other.. I went back and he was like " oh I didn't know you want them to be the same!!!!" He was working on fixing that and obviously he wasn't having enough time because another patient was waiting so he kept carving my tooth instead of fixing the filling itself!! Anyway since this visit I'm having a sensitive tooth that a month later after that I still can't eat or drink properly because of this visit. Dr. Kim and his staff are amazing. If you are looking for a kind and gentle dentist who does great work, look no further than Forest Fental Cafe. I've had to have extensive work to correct problems with my teeth, including root canals, implants, and bone grafts. Dr. Kim has gotten me through all of my issues and for the first time in my life I feel I'm in a good place with my teeth. Twice, I've had to schedule an appointment due to pain, and he has gotten me in asap both times. I expected more from this office. Once I was called back and seated, everything went well. Assistant explained what she was doing and said Dr will be in shortly. Dr came in and everything was going well until you asked him questions about the problems he noted. You could not understand what this doctor was saying. I asked him a question and all he did was repeat what he said but rephrased it. It just seems like he does not know what he is talking about. You try to communicate with him and he just blows it off and will switch the subject. He stutters too much and hard to understand. His cleanings are less than 10 minutes, it just seems like you are not getting a good dental cleaning. I would not recommend this place at all. My first visit with Dr Kim went great. I had an exam and cleaning and both went smoothly. I was able to view my X-rays instantly on a large screen. Dr Kim and staff are very friendly and welcoming. He answered all my questions thoroughly and explained everything in a manner that was easy to understand. I'm coming back in a week for a root canal and I feel confident that I will be well taken of. There's a sign by the front that says they'll give you a Starbucks gift card in exchange for a Yelp review on the spot. Who is going to write a bad review for them to read on the spot? No one. I've gone here for multiple cleanings. The last cleaning I had, Dr. Kim spent less than five minutes cleaning my teeth. I've never had a cleaning done so fast before. He had another patient waiting, which is likely the reason he was rushing. Regardless of the reason, I don't think he did a good job. I will admit his bedside manner is pretty good. He does a very good job explaining what's about to happen. I read these reviews and I'm astonished by the number of people who say Kari is friendly. I find her quite rude and short. I've had roughly five interactions with her and each time I've found her rude. When I asked her for a copy of my records, she proceeded to question why I needed them. Does it matter? They're my medical records. I guess it'd be uncomfortable to call someone rude right in front of them on a review and then ask for your Starbucks gift card. It was my second visit and absolutely love this place. My crown was bothering me for few months and being new to this area, it took me a while to find a good dentist. Both of my visits (I went after work which I love) the clinic was clean, friendly and doctor/staff were professional. I was super nervous to go to the dentist because with my previous dentist, during/after the treatment was so painful but Dr. Kim was very gentle, he made me feel at ease and explained everything to me- I am amazed how well it went. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Kim and his staff. They are always accommodating when scheduling my appointments, and very welcoming when I walk through the door. Going to the dentist has always been one of my least favorite things, however, Dr. Kim does a great job making sure I am comfortable before, during, and after all of my appointments. I was so scared having to get two crowns, but Dr. Kim made sure I was extra numb and made the entire process extremely comfortable for me. He was also very patient and meticulous in reshaping my crown to make sure my bite was just right. The lady (I can't remember her name) who does my cleanings is also wonderful. She's extremely nice and very thorough. Forest Dental also offers payment programs for uninsured patients, which is something I really appreciate. I highly recommend Forest Dental Café. Dr. Kim is an excellent dentist who is calm, patient and very skilled. He is not only skilled in the art and science of dentistry but has a talent to make anxious patients like me feel at ease. His Dental Assistant LeAndra was excellent and did a superb job in taking all the X-Rays and assisting with the cleaning. As soon as I set foot in the clinic I felt a very welcoming and calm environment. Kari, the Office Manager, was very polite, knowledgeable and helpful. She provided me with some options and explained all the financial aspects of the procedures. She was very helpful in processing all of my new patient information and even checked up on me a few days later to see how I was feeling. Kari also helped me navigate through the Care Credit process and followed up with the company on my behalf. The best part about Dr. Kim and his team is that you do not feeling like a patient, but rather like a part of their family. You are treated with quality care and Dr. Kim and team go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. For example, I had a chipped tooth in the back and it just felt rough every time my tongue touched it. Dr. Kim polished the chip and now the area is smooth. Things like this, although very simple, make all the difference to patients. Dr. Kim also does not promote any services that you do not need. He only tells you what you need to do to get your teeth healthy and strong. This truly is unlike any dentist office I have been to. Besides the fresh smell of Nespresso coffee and IPads for patients to use, the best part of Forest Dental Café are people like Dr. Kim, Kari and LeAndra.
