I stayed here 10 days when a client booked me out here. I travel quite frequently for work and can say this hotel was one of the worst I've been to.
The staff was always rude and wholly unhelpful. It was quite amusing how 5 or so of them would stand around chatting and then brush you off when you'd ask them for something.
I had a non-smoking room. Someone had definitely smoked in it and it had a moldy smell too. I ended up getting sick and having to switch rooms. The rooms are also somewhat frustrating as the outlets are on timers. The wifi also kicks you off periodically. If you have to be working or transferring files at night, this place probably isn't for you. There is no dresser and no safe.
The one day I slept in, housekeeping tried coming in at 8am despite a tag on my door. They then ended up coming in my room and cleaning it while I was out, despite the tag. This is a bit unnerving as I had tens of thousands of dollars worth of professional equipment in my room.
The breakfast sucks. Runny powdered eggs and stick uncooked sausage and bacon with warm packaged cheeses. Again, the wait staff was rude here as well. They admitted us the first 5 days into the restaurant and then started putting us in a dingy side room without explanation.
Lastly, we were in the Marais after a panicked stampede of people flipped over all the cafes when there was another suspected shooter after the Paris attack. When we made our way back to the hotel. When I asked the concierge if he had heard any news on what had happened in the Marais he callously laughed at me and told me it was caused by a false alarm. read more
