The maintenance and upkeep of the property is horrible. Such disrespect of gravesites. This problem has been ongoing for two to three years. Father's Day we couldn't even walk to our parent's gravesite due to weeds. There sister cemetery off St Vincent Avenue is in worse shape than this one on 70th street. It doesn't even have a fence anymore. Please do your homework before choosing a resting place for your loved one. read more

If I could give Forest Park West 0 stars, I would. My entire family is in mourning over the sudden loss of our beloved Mother Glenna Monday. We buried her July 1, 2023 We are all in mourning and shock dealing with our loss as well as ANGER, embarrassment and shame at the way my beloved Mother was treated during her burial. We had to have a small gathering in the mausoleum due to 100 degree heat. Forest Park West literally had almost nothing to do except dig a small hole for her urn, put something nice & pretty over the hole, cover the dirt with green carpet and the surrounding area, mow, weed eat, rake or blow away dead grass... that's it. THEY DID NONE OF THAT! My Mother had only a small hole for her urn that was dug above my Father's burial site. To our horror....they threw a ROTTEN PIECE OF WOOD, over the hole! We had to walk through overgrown weeds, dead grass all around as far as the eye could see, not to mention all the dead grass around my Father's headstone! The grounds keepers weren't in uniform, and we never got to even see the headstone except an image on the computer that a staff member showed us. Disgusting. Forest Park West charged us over $2500 for "Professional Services" for what? All a staff member did was read our Mother's obituary in the mausoleum. That's not worth $2,500. Also charging a grieving, in shock family over $7,900 for a small hole and a headstone IS NOT worth over $7,900. Their corporate office offered us a measly $500 refund.....that's a slap in the face! We feel totally taken advantage of during the worst time in our lives! read more

Went to visit my Pawpaw's grave this morning. Driving through, there are flowers and trash EVERYWHERE on the grass, road, etc. my Pawpaw's tombstone with him and his wife's picture was COMPLETELY BROKEN. This was SCREWED into the stone when his wife was buried YEARS ago. I am SO beyond disappointed with the upkeep. read more

Poor maintenance of the facilities! After numerous complaints by myself and recently by my daughter something was done. I have to maintain and clean up mess left behind by maintenance crew. Weed eat and blow off stone. Put ant dope out constantly. Lots of empty promises by staff. I paid the upkeep charge but I should get a refund seeing how I am the one keeping it up. read more

I have never been so disgusted in my entire life. You depend on this place to help care for your loved ones when you can't be around. You pay for the plots, with the expectation that the cemetery would take pride in their grounds. We have pictures that proves otherwise. If you are able to choose somewhere else for your loved ones, I encourage you to do so. Between the ants and poison ivy/oak, we'll do it ourselves. I truly believe in karma, enough said. We all need to take a stand against this cemetery and their so called maintenance crew and give our loved ones what they deserve. read more

I have never in my life dealt with more disrespectful, selfish, cold people in my entire life. Thousands of dollars later and they sunk a tractor, dug into other graves, and the headstone was in the grave and he was unable to be buried the day of the funeral and we knew none of it until we arrived for the funeral. I am absolutely sick to my stomach with the way they treat people and handle things like this. The only reason I didn't get a lawyer involved was because of Mr. Ron who was kind and helpful. Their supervisor lady who we spoke to had less empathy and consideration for people than anyone there. Jennifer was cold, rude and laughed when I said we should not have to pay for what they ruined. She also did not even walk to see the grave they destroyed. She looked at a photo and was shocked but not enough to even say sorry. Again Mr. Ron is the only reason I let it go, hopefully soon we can actually burry our loved one who passed away over 2 weeks ago. It was all very traumatic and if you can avoid it, you absolutely should avoid this place like the plague. Unfortunately I can't move all the family I have here this hasn't been our first issue with them and I'm sure it won't be the last, this instance was just the most traumatic. read more

Don't waste your time with these people. It's been 6 months since Dad's passing and STILL no date has been engraved on his monument. 12 phone calls in the last 2 months with nothing but double talk and empty promises. Find another cemetary for your loved ones. This one is just awful. read more

I'm currently going thru the same thing as the Donna Gaspard family with Forest Park West. We buried my mother there 9/11/15 and even had the proof of moms headstone approved by their employee Larry Hawkins, who told us to cut 11 inches off the base of mom's headstone, so we went back to Central Monument, and made the change. Then I was told we had to pay Perpetual Care for the monument to FPW, after already paying them Perpetual Care fees for the plot. I have 6 other family members buried there since 1999 and their sites look like hell. I go out when I can and clean the Monuments with water and pull weeds. By knowing what kind of "care" they gave the monuments, I refused to pay the Perpetual Care fee. I also called around and other cemeteries only charge flagging fees, so that's what I agreed to pay, which is also higher than the other cemeteries. I've been dealing with their Regional Mgr about this issue and after expressing all my grievances with FPW since burying mom, and evidence to support my statement. After going back and forth for two months, he agrees to our paying the flagging fees and us be done. I did just that. And schedule Central Monument for delivery, for the manager to come back and say we can't place that Monument (that's paid for and made) bc mom's plot doesn't have upright Memorial-Pines privilege, bc she's a single plot in a section where it's mostly double plots. Really? NOBODY HAS SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THIS UP UNTIL A WEEK AGO, IT WAS ACTUALLY APPROVED BY ONE OF THEIR EMPLOYEES AND I'M TRYING TO GET IT PLACED BY HER FIRST ANNUAL ANNIVERSARY, 9/6/16. THIS IS DISGUSTING AND VILE AND SOMETHING I'D NEVER IMAGINE HAVING TO DEAL WITH, INSTEAD OF GRIEVING MY MOTHER!! read more

Staff is friendly and eager to help (sell) with their services when you need them - as I am sure all similar operations are - and I can't fault them for that as they seem to do a good honest job of this part of their service. They are constantly adding to the facilities and do a fair job of keeping up the property - with one glaring exception. They just refuse to maintain water to some of the areas of the park - generally the lower grade (flat markers only) - while knocking themselves out keeping the water lines repaired for the higher grade areas (vertical markers and plantings). I have 4 plots next to my wife's parents and maintain theirs along with one of my sons and have done so for over 25 years now (I will care for my family as long as I am alive I mow these plots myself). I have been trying to get the water turned back on for 4 years now with innumerable "work orders" written to fix this with not the first sign of a genuine attempt to correct the situation. This is very frustrating when you have put the time and expense forward to try and maintain nice green grass to just see it burn up during the summers. You might want to ask them about this if you are looking for a nice place to put a loved one - if it shames them to react I will appreciate it. read more
