I had a very large & dying tree in my backyard. After calling several companies, I decided to schedule with Forester. I scheduled for a couple months out, but when they recognized they were going to be in my neighborhood for another service, they kindly offered to move my appointment up. They showed up earlier than they anticipated arrival time, but that didn't bother us any. It was interesting to see how they had to position their large equipment in my front yard to go over my house, to remove the dying tree in the backyard! We have a fence that kept them from being able to utilize the side lot/backyard. In a matter of a few short hours, they were able to remove the dying tree and grind down the stump. Because they showed up early, I wasn't entirely prepared financially and they didn't take my PayPal credit line, which I had anticipated using for payment. After some time, we did get it worked. their experience, affordable, pricing, and attention to detail makes me comfortable recommending them. The front office lady was also super kind! read more

Terrible. Don't use them. They're Expensive They did Poor work. Had people standing or sitting around not working while their machines keep running poured pollutants into the air. Even when one was actually working several others stood and watched. Lazily and worthlessly. They came late. They caused didn't obey parking laws. They crowed the streets so there were car backups as people trying to wend their way them fuel-guzzing vehicles. They brought five when they only needed two. They didn't even finish the job. read more

I called them in April to look at damage to our birch trees. One of the trees had a broken branch. Because they didn't show up or return calls I had someone else take it down in July. Forester showed up in August and sent me an invoice for cutting the branch that they did not cut. read more

Not showing up...not calling. This seems to be an ongoing issue. We got an estimate and scheduled a date for tree removal, had to rescheduled due to bad weather...and after a couple of months when it finally comes up for the work, they don't show up as agreed, they didn't call and when I finally get them on the phone, they take no responsibility. It was a frustrating process working with these folks, and in the end I terminated working with them. The details: We scheduled a tree removal in early July. They set the job for early August, but then the day scheduled was bad weather. That was understandable. -The next day a large portion of the tree fell and I called to see if they could help move those large pieces blocking the driveway/alley. They promised to swing by 'at the end of the day' and move the pieces. They never stopped by, and they never called. My wife actually rolled one log out of our drive and the next day the city came and moved the chunks blocking the alley. They rescheduled the tree removal for a couple of weeks later, and confirmed the day before that they would be there around 9am. Nope. They never showed up and never called. After lunch, I called them from work and was pretty upset. I was told that they were behind in another job and would reschedule us for the next week, and make us the #1 priority. I have no idea what that meant, but assumption is that until then we WERE NOT a priority??? Probably the dumbest thing they could have said... I asked why they couldn't even call, and they said they were just getting ready to call. Meanwhile, my wife had been waiting for 4 hours for them to show up! Then they blamed the other job as the reason. Then they blamed me for being unreasonable. So I made it very clear (I thought), they were fired and we would find someone else. EXCEPT, right after I hang up they call my wife and left a message that says they are confused as to why someone 'We think it may have been your brother or something" called them upset. Then they say they will be there in a couple of days. Then they email and say they will be there the next day to do some of the work, and a few days later to finish the job. I responded to the email, so it was in writing: No, you have been fired. We have already contracted with a competitor. If you show up and do anything, you will not be paid. For this to be a common comment on Yelp makes me think they have no actual scheduling process and they overschedule jobs and operate in constant chaos. And no customer service skills at all. GO ELSEWHERE. Pay a little more to not deal with the stress and stupidity. read more

Forester Tree Service cancelled the scheduled date 3 times. They came 14 months later, cut down the trees, trimmed the bushes at a slant and above the gutters and left a huge mess of wood chips which we were charged $700.00 for clean up. I was told it was our responsibility to supervise the workers and tell them what needed to be done. The owner came to inspect after we complained and admitted the work was not finished. A month later, still not finished after numerous promises and they don't want to give a discount for incomplete work. Two days ago, we were promised that the area would be cleaned and the bushes evenly trimmed below the gutters. They never showed up. This happened at my Aunts house in Oak Creed, WI., and she does not have a computer. I was also in contact with the company. read more

I requested an estimate for a tree trimming. My requirements were the tree be trimmed back enough to make my house visible. This required a trim of about 3' all the way around. When I spoke to the person over the phone he said 'OK, I'll send my guy up top.' The arrived unannounced a week early. Two guys showed up with a dilapidated lift that leaked hydraulic fluid on my driveway. They cut down a dozen branches 'that were rubbing' then left. Total time on the job about 45 minutes. I complained and refused to pay the $500 charge for such shoddy work. His explanation was that trimming the branches back was bad for the tree. They 'opened up the crown to improve its health'. None of this was explained beforehand. They are refusing to negotiate or come back to redo the job. After 6 months we are stuck in limbo. read more

This was the only tree service that was open at 3pm on a Saturday. Somehow we had a tree three times the height of our two story house fall on our garage. Dylan answered the phone, took down my info and was here in less than 30 minutes. He had some questions about accessibility to do the job so he sent the foreman out to inspect. Joe, the foreman, arrived not too long after Dylan left. While Joe was here, the tree started creaking and shifting. Very high potential for the tree to fall on our house. Joe left and was back in little over an hour with the equipment and crew. They worked until 9pm when it was dark and they were using car headlights to light the job site. He removed enough of the tree so the garage wouldn't collapse and nothing would hit our house. They were supposed to come back Monday but the equipment broke so they had to have it fixed. The notified us they would be here Wednesday. They were here bright and early this morning (Wednesday) with a ton of equipment. They knocked out the job in about three hours including clean up. They did an excellent job. They also worked with my insurance company. Forester is going to rewrite the estimate in a format that the insurance company needs to pay the bill. Forester also gave us a nice discount on the job. They were very eager to help us complete the job in a time fashion for a great price and worked with our insurance company, no problems. They were concerned about our safety. Very professional and experienced company. Highly recommend Forester to do any tree job, large or small. read more

Signed contact in March for some tree trimming. It is now mid September and work has not been done. Gave me a date after each time I contacted them but they were a no show each time without calling to let me know why they had not shown up. Had work done by them in past years and they were very good. Not sure what has happened with their service but it is now unacceptable. Have waited 7 months and they still have not shown up to do a job we signed a contract for. read more

I called for an estimate, and when I asked to verify that they do free estimates, the guy replied "well, insurance is going to pay for it." I explained the situation further, and why my insurance wouldn't be covering the situation, and he insisted insurance would pay for it as if I didn't know what I was talking about. I get the feeling that their prices are less than competitive when they think insurance is covering a job. Not the best way to do business. read more

Make sure they agree to whatever they put in their own estimate. Forester refused to do some of the work included in their estimate because they "forgot to remove the wording". The work that was actually completed was done well. But, for the cost I would not have gone with them if the estimate only included the work they were actually completing. read more

I accepted an estimate in October 2018 for tree pruning and tree removal, and $150 for emerald ash borer treatment. They did the tree removal and said they'd do the ash borer treatment in early spring. They never did it. I called, they said they'd get back to me, and that "there's nothing to be upset about. They never called back. I called today to request my money back, and they hung up on me. read more
