He was very friendly, showed us all the (sterile) equipment he would be using, explained what he was doing as he was doing it, and told us how to take care of it afterwards. I got my nose pierced last minute a few months ago and went here! He was super nice and knew exactly what he was doing. I had absolutely no pain during the piercing and it healed simply after. I did end up getting hypertrophic scaring because I touched the piercing (do NOT touch the piercing), and he taught me exactly how to treat it and now it is all better! Great place and great service! I had an appointment with Malakai and he was friendly and knowledgeable. My cartilage piercing was infected after I got it pierced from a place in Nashville. I came in to have the earring removed and replaced with a new one. He knew exactly how to treat the infection and which earring to replace it with in order to help it heal. My ear feels so much better already and I love the earring he replaced it with! I definitely recommend coming here if you want a new piercing. read more

My worst tattoo is from Inksanity when they were in Somerset on Hamilton Street (2014). After a stressful and emotionally charged experience was over, I had found a quote that I felt fit my experience perfectly. I wanted to keep it with me forever. I go to another shop in Manhattan, but I lived closer to Inksanity at the time. I had heard a plethora of great reviews about them, so I went. I told the receptionist what I wanted, and they said to look into the book they had that had a bunch of fonts. Hector comes out and sees me looking at the book and asks me what I want. I say it, choose a font, and we head to the booth. Problem is, he starts looking on his computer and goes "Wait, we don't have this font?" To which the receptionist said "Ah, yeah they probably got rid of those fonts in the books from when we changed computers. You're gonna have to write it out by hand." Hector got upset, and was like "damn that's gonna take awhile." I immediately felt like I was an inconvenience, so I said "Why don't we just look up a font online? That way you can just trace it and there's no issues." He agreed, so we searched. First off, Hector had no idea of anatomical placement. It was an 8 word quote that I wanted on my hip. Why did he print out the stencil and have it go on two lines, instead of having it flow with the curve of the hip? His first suggestion was absolutely illogical, and so I had to keep re-explaining the way it would look best to him until he got it to where it made the most sense, then I had to have him change the sizing because of personal preference. Some guy comes out, and he goes to him "What do you think?" The guy looks at it and goes, "Eh... $150." That's it? That's how you evaluate how much the tattoo costs? Not a way I've experienced pricing, but okay.. Alright, ready for the tattoo. He's literally in the middle of my tattoo when he explains to me that he's not doing well, that he just lost his cousin the day before. I felt horrible, because unfortunately I can relate, but dude -- you should NOT be tattooing if you know you're not at 100% right now emotionally. I actually debated leaving mid-tattoo because of it, but I figured it's too late. The tattoo was done, and it looked a little too bold... I felt weird about it. I mean, I was ecstatic that I finally had the quote on me, and I showed it off, but something wasn't right. Now it's 2017, and for the last two years the quote is pretty much a splotch. He was too heavy handed while tattooing. Now I don't know if that's because of how he does things or because of his unfortunate loss and not being mentally there. There's a part that the letters actually bled together and it's really hard to read. I now have to get a cover up of this tattoo and figure out where to put the quote, now that I have to get it done a SECOND time. After all this, I'm led to believe Hector was an apprentice, but the thing is, I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT. I was led to believe that Hector had years of experience, even showing me his portfolio of other tattoos he's done. And if he wasn't an apprentice, then what does that say about the rest of the shop? I would avoid, honestly. read more

Live locally and needed 2 replacement earrings so i decided to stop in. Showed the exact tragus earring that I had and was clear that I wanted it replaced with the exact same one with a specific (screwed on) backing. Before i knew it, i ended up with a regular stud earring in my ear and was told it would be easier to take it off/put on. The backing already fell off and into my ear. Not what i asked for... If i wanted that, i would have asked for it or could have done it myself. Asked for replacement nose ring to be put in, since i have difficulty putting it in (nails). Was told the hole was closed up... But it was only out for 2 days (note: i had it out several times before this for longer periods of time and other piercers were able to push it though since it is not a new piercing. Long story short, i was told I'd need my nose re-pierced. Thinking it would be just to push it though the orig hole, I ended up with a brand new piercing... Which is bleeding still and very painful as compared to my original. I visited a few shops in the past to replace these same items with high quality jewelry, and the max it cost was $50. I paid $85 for NOTHING that I asked for... You can read between the lines what this shop is about. read more

I went to forever ink and wanted a pretty basic design. The artist woody was very kind, helped me create a good stencil of it and even got me in the next day. He did a great job on the tattoo and I love it! Made me feel very comfy and welcomed. However, when coming in the day off I was greater by a bigger taller man at the counter. After checking me in he asked what I was getting done. After explaining and showing him what I did he looked at me and said "you don't appreciate the art of tattooing" and I said "excuse me?" He said that it was basically scribbles and clearly didn't like the design. He had a tone of disgust and annoyance. The design is supposed to be scribbles (the entire point of it). I was in awe and couldn't explain how frustrated it made me feel. For an employee to say that to a customer is so disrespectful and rude. I almost walked out right then and there. Took my 5 year old last week to get her ears pierced. It's harder than I thought to find a professional tattoo/piercing place to do a 5 year old--most cater to babies or 6-8 years old minimum. I saw a few reviews from local moms about Forever Ink so after checking out their website I texted Malakai to make an appt. I was surprised that I ended up having a long conversation with him via text about the process and what to expect (which I really appreciated) . What my husband and I both really liked was that he said that right before he pierced he would ask my daughter if she wanted to have her ears pierced and if she said no, he wouldn't do it, no matter what I said or wanted. As a mom who is determined to instill "your body, your rules" in my children I was thrilled with this policy. My daughter was super excited to get her ears done, but also very nervous. Malakai was very welcoming when we got to his room and put her at ease with his friendly demeanor. She chose her earrings (all were studs but different sized balls and of course she chose the jeweled ones lol) and Malakai marked her ears. He explained tthe placement for each. As he started getting everything ready my daughter freaked out and I had no idea why. I tried to calm her down (as did he) but she couldn't explain what was going on. I knew we were done and true to his word, Malakai said he wouldn't pierce her that day. I took her outside and then into our car. She wouldn't buckle up and kept insisting we go back because she wanted it done. I explained that we couldn't do it while she was so upset becuase it was dangerous for her and Mr. Malakai if she moved, and he didn't want to hurt her. I asked her again what had made her so scared all of a sudden and she said the scissors. I had no idea what she was talking about as I hadn't seen any sccissors. At this point she was more upset because she lost her chance to get her ears pierced. I texted Malakai to ask when we could try again and explained the scissors thing. He said if she wanted to try again we could, but if she got scared again we would have to wait until she was older. I felt this was fair and we went back in. When we got back to the room he had Disney tunes playing which I think helped put her at ease a little. He then immediately showed her the clamp to hold her earlobe, which he had realized she had mistaken for scissors LOL! He showed her how it didn't hurt and she was good to go. He put the freeze spray on her ear and she was fine. He talked to her about how important it was to not touch her ears to keep them clean and gave us cleaner to use 3x a day for a couple of weeks. It's been a week and her ears look great!! After a couple of days the slight swelling went down completely. No complications and she's still so excited to show off her earrings. I love this place! Everyone is very friendly and the environment is sterile. What more can you ask for? I first paid a visit to the shop last year to get my tragus re pierced. I maintained the upkeep and cleaning and had no problem. Last month I decided to get a tattoo in my grandmothers handwriting. I explained my idea to the artist and he took the time to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. He was patient and kind enough to allow my mom and grandmother in the room to watch the process. Horrible! Horrible! My daughter got her nose pierced there 3 1/2 weeks ago. It started looking swollen and red, so we went back to have the gentleman who did it look at it. He was nasty, rude and couldn't be bothered. He said it's normal and basically pushed us out the door. We then took my daughter to the doctor to have it looked at. Well....it in fact it is severely infected!!!!! I will never ever go back to Forever Inksanity and I recommend no one else does either. Horrible!!! read more

I got my 2 month old daughter's ear pierced today by Malakia. He's the best. Very professional,skilled and talented. He made sure that her piercing was even and the piercing was fast. My daughter shed some tears naturally but one minute later she was fast asleep. It's been a couple of hours now and she doesn't seem to be bothered by it at all. Malakia gave us a cleaning solution with specific care instructions. I have no doubt that her ears will heal perfectly. In addition, my friend and I both got conch cartilage piercings. Again. It was quick and easy. I would recommend this place to everyone. These days pediatricians offer ear piercing but they don't have the skills and most likely use a piercing gun. Piercing guns are no accurate and the doctors don't really know where to place their earring on their lobes. I definitely wouldn't trust a piercing place either done with a piercing gun with an inexperienced person. I believe you pay for skills. So even if it cost more, it's worth the investment! read more

This place simply cannot execute basic tattoo skills or designs which is extremely baffling and concerning to me. I've gotten two very small pieces from here, both of them being simple as can be - minimal, plain, geometrical linework (ex: the outline of a sun) All i asked is please make it straight and not thick. Last week I came in with a group of friends in the afternoon. When we walked in we noticed that there was no one in the front to greet us at the desk. At some point a man came to the front to ask us what we were here for and sent us to the back piercing room before disappearing again. This was not my first experience with getting a piercing and I was taken aback that none of us were asked to fill out any forms, no one was asked for ID's and no one discussed many aftercare details or any explanations of the procedures. We are all in our early 20's but the establishment did not know that and that was concerning. The piercer started seeing us one by one and I immediately noticed that he did not wash his hands, he wore gloves but did not wash them. One main reason that we came here was that the site mentioned that they offered gold jewelry, the piercer did not show us any selection of jewelry as is customary at many other shops. The piercer did not show any of us the placement of the jewelry beforehand, which was a bit of a surprise. He also did not count to three and pierce on 3 like many other piercers do. The whole process was very rushed and as such we didn't really have much time to react or take much of it in. I was very unhappy with the placement of my piercing, which I only realized after the whole thing happened. One of my friends has a piercing that was very poorly placed, an industrial bar, you can only see it from one side and looks like it's digging into his ear. All in all the place is cheap and that seems like the only plus, you really do get what you pay for. The lack of professionalism, rushed pacing of the procedures and lack of attention to standard details and hygiene are astounding in a profession whose foundation is supposed to be comprised of these elements. I only went here on the recommendation of a friend as I normally go to Sanctum in New Brunswick, which is infinitely better, cleaner and more professional in every way. I'd like to think of this as a lesson that maybe wasn't costly in the short term but in the long run will stay with us. I looked at the other low reviews and noticed that the owner and piercer gets very defensive when people call him out. I'm writing this review to warn people to take all this in consideration and avoid establishments like this that are lacking in basic procedures, and consideration that should be afforded to all clientele. read more

Worst service ever!! I took my daughter to get her ears pierced over the weekend. The guy was extremely unfriendly and made us feel like we were interrupting him playing with his guitar. What concerned me as well is that my daughter is 13 and no one asked us for IDs. This place is nothing compared to Sanctum in New Brunswick. The only reason we went here is because it's closer to where we live. Big mistake. You're dealing with customers, learn how to provide good service. Got my first tattoo here after a spur of the moment decision. I got a small heart, of which I only wanted the outline. He said he could do that but seemed like his mind was elsewhere. He (I think his name is Malaki) ended up filling in the heart. I didn't realize when he was filling it in until I looked. I was so annoyed, but couldn't do anything at that point. It's been a few months and it's kind of splotchy and one part of it isn't even connected at the end. I guess I'll get it touched up by a professional. Not worth the $70 (with tip). Malakai is probably the best piercer I have ever been to. I came in for a daith piercing and was impressed by how clean the shop is and how friendly the receptionist was. They got me back in right away and within fifteen minutes I had a gorgeous piercing. The great thing about Malakai is he's quick- not rushed, but he doesn't draw it out, so you barely feel the pain. My piercing looks incredible and the jewelry is beautiful. I highly recommend this shop and will be back for more work. read more

Kai fucked up the most basic of tattoos and he over charged me $150 for a tattoo that wasn't even an inch. He was very rough with the needle and scabbed my arm up and his eyes were red and he was breathing realy heavy so I'm pretty sure he was high. If you like getting over priced tattoos with crooked lining by junkies Forever Inked is your place to be! Also if your a woman getting a leg tattoo you have to take off your underwear. Do not come here to get pierced. I came on 1/30/18 to get my nose pierced (nostril). First impression on the shop is that it smelled like cigarettes and marijuana. I usually go to pleasure piercings but my friend told me she had gotten her ear pierced there recently and I should try it out. So I did. Worst decision of my life. When I arrived my piercer *skinny, short white guy* was waiting outside smoking a cigarette and asked me if I was the one who previously called * I called 15 min before arriving to make sure they were still doing piercings* I said yes and started signing papers for a small tattoo and my piercing. My tattoo turned out fine. Now when he took me to the room to pierce my nose I knew I chose the wrong place.. not once did he count down the same way they do at pleasurable, he cleaned the area with a rubbing alcohol towel only on the top and it was rushed. I saw the placement and it was fine.. about 2 days later I noticed my piercing started going into my skin and it immediately scared me since that NEVER happened to me before. I called pleasurable piercings and asked if i could come in so they can look at it and they told me yes but first I should check with my piercer and then give them a call if anything went wrong. I came back here the next day *the piercing was further down my skin* after work and the same guy who pierced me was there I asked him to look at it he looked annoyed and took me to the room.. he pushed my piercing out my skin and told me it was fine and that its supposed to be flat against my skin like that, just push it out and to keep cleaning it well. I was so disappointed. I called pleasurable they told me to go in first thing in the morning. When I got there they were horrified with how far into my skin the top was and how he told me that it was supposed to be that way. They said the jewelry was cheap and chaged my piercing out for me. I paid 60$ plus 10$ tip for the WORST piercing I've ever gotten. Do not go there. read more

I came in to this shop on Sunday with my sister to get a memorial piece for our grandfather. We came in and met with one of the tattoo artist there. He was not friendly at all, did not communicate with us on how we wanted it drawn out. I had to repeat myself multiple times because he kept doing it the way he wanted. Finally we got it down to the sizing so we began the process. Everything was going fine until my sister noticed that he put a 10 instead of 11 which is the month my grandfather was born .. we told him about it and that's where he got rude saying it was our fault we never mentioned it.. he rushed through it to fix it and I still had to pay the full price not even offered a discount. We went home and started noticing the lines weren't straight , there was dotes not full lines, there was lines outside the lettering.. I went back in to show the owner and he said that to him it looked fine, it was still healing but no matter how much it heals there still will be the lines going on the outside , also mentioned that it was worse then what he thought being I called the day before .. he didn't offer us a refund of any kind. The guy who was there who tattooed us tried to make it seem like we were the bad one here, and that it was our fault. The owner was on his phone while we spoke to him. I will never be using this establishment again. read more
