This is the place to get all your music needs. They have all kinds of selections for all kinds of music. For example I was looking for a specific CD from a specific artist. This particular time they did not have it but they were able to get it to me within a week. All in all a great experience. A cornucopia of library music to sift through. The prices are very fair. The cheapest used cds are 7.98 even for common cds you can find anywhere else for 5.00 or less. Forever Young is as massive as you've seen (or hey, if you haven't seen photos, it's a huge store!) For this reason alone, you're bound to walk out of the store happy, with at least a few records. When you walk in, you'll get that feeling of 'where do I start?' Don't worry, it will be ok. I took my first left, skipped the RSD section (pretty big, FYI) and went to the Xmas section. It too was also big, and where it was after the holiday, I thought maybe I might be able to find some cool titles. I walked away with one record I had been looking for and another I didn't know I was looking for but surely needed. After that, I continued onto a 90s/2000s section that, from what I could tell, was a mix of multiple mainstream genres like rock, pop, hip/hop, r&b, etc. Again, we're talking about a lot of records so I made the strategic choice to only look for items on my want list. I did this for the subsequent sections (a 80s/70s combo and 60s/50s combo) and still spent most of my 2 hours in the store in this manner. It was after going through these sections that I looked to the ground with more attention, where I suspected other genres laid their claim. I ended up finding way too many records to choose from for my partner, and some other sections that again were so big that I wasn't even prepared to dive in and dig. When I was finally ready to checkout, my sister (who was also shopping with me) mentioned she had got a punch card, which gives you some money off as you spend a certain amount on used records. She offered hers up to me for my purchase. I didn't pay much attention to the exact parameters, but I got $40 off which was much appreciated (especially considering pricing, which I will get to at the end.) As I was checking out, I noticed the collector's room and took a look at that before I left the store. While there was some interesting stuff in there, none of it was anything I was really looking for (especially not at the higher range.) Back on pricing, I did have a little bit of a shock when I saw that basically every record I picked up was $30 or $35. That's definitely what I'm used to paying back home for new records but not so much for regular used vinyl. This wasn't completely surprising, as I had bought some stuff from them online before, and was certainly softened by the discounts I got at the register but something to keep in mind before you go. Also, I think the pricing is also a function of the store being a bit of one-stop shop with its size. Finally, there is stuff other than vinyl (in fact, A LOT of CDs, as well as tapes, 8-track, etc.) but I wasn't looking for any of that so I didn't shop it. However, if you're into multiple media formats it should be all the more appealing. Happy record shopping! read more

It's really sad when you have a very argumentative spirit. Went to this place to order the recent music of October London ( played on the radio) for my sister a CD. Received explicit version and owner refused to correct the issue. He even stated the consumer is not always right. The fact that he had a very mean look on his face and sharp tongue I was so outdone. They overprice stuff online and they will swear up and down something gets collectors price when it is nowhere worth $200+. Especially some albums I've gotten elsewhere for $5. They claim it's competing with pricing on say Amazon or eBay but when you check, they're the competition on the other sites when no one else is selling it. Don't pay those sucker prices on random albums. Their discogs page is flooded with $600-900 records and CDs that other people are currently selling for $50 at most. I do not recommend them because they make it harder to find cheap albums due to randomly high prices being slapped on everything. They're just hoping one will sell that high, that's why they have hundreds of overpriced listings. I wouldn't even bother taking anything up there for store credit if I had known they'd slap a $900 price on it online. read more

This place is bonkers! The sheer volume is very overwhelming but I was able to find several albums I've been looking for for awhile now. All the records are sleeved which is a small but appreciated touch. There is even an audiophile room for those serious collectors. Lots of great box sets both old and new. The buyers here are really dialed in. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time here because there's a lot of digging to be done but everything is expertly organized so it's also super easy to find something specific. read more

After making a big move and clearing out my childhood home I came across a big cassette tape collection. After doing some research and asking around friends for suggestions, many of them pointed me to Forever Young Records. Upon entering it can be overwhelming. The place is gigantic and anyone can really get lost without stepping more than 5 steps into the shop. Mike greeted me almost immediately. Maybe he saw the deer in headlights look on me. I quickly walked over and placed my collection on the counter. We made some quick banter about the yesteryears of my music tastes and chatted while he looked over my collection. I knew I wasn't going to get a lot. He offered me a fair value though and even gave me an option of offering me more for store credit. I walked around the store but couldn't find anything so I opted in for the cash offer. Super solid interaction and I will definitely keep this place on my mind. They have tons of Beatles memorabilia along with records and cassette tapes. It was a good trip down memory lane and I'm sure I'll be back in the future to browse when I get more time. read more

We needed vinyl cleaner and this was the only store that had it, so we drove from Garland to Grand Prairie and it was worth it! We were immediately greeted and helped with what we needed by a very knowledgeable associate. We then noticed there was so much more to this store! So we had to look around and had so much fun. Absolutely great selection, you can spend hours in here looking through music. The major issue as everybody has stated is the pricing. Many used single disc CD's are priced by the LENGTH OF THE ALBUM? This is the only place I've ever seen that be a factor. I would spend much more money here if the prices were more reasonable. If you take a look at their Discogs store their prices on there are a laughing stock. I'm convinced they dont want a lot of this stuff to sell, maybe the owner is more of a collector than a business man. I've found some great stuff here but I paid a lot for it every time, never got a great deal. Staff is friendly enough but my one issue with them is when I asked if they would carry my CD [I'm an artist and have put my CD's in several local stores] They said they wouldnt be able to help me at all, no matter what deal I tried to negotiate [not even for free] If youre going to shop here you'll probably find some great stuff, but have your wallet ready to take a beating. I recently reached out to them regarding their INSANELY OVER INFLATED PRICES and received a response that made absolute ZERO sense! In fact the response was just outright LIES! First of all this place would receive a ton of business from me if they had their records priced accordingly, I would even pay above value for some of the items, however, I WOULD NEVER PAY anywhere from 2 to even 20 TIMES THE VALUE of a record! And from what they're charging for OVER HALF the items in their stock , it just DOESNT MAKE ANY LOGICAL SENSE! They are selling some records here for over $200-300 that I've just found at other stores for anywhere from $3 to $20 in mint or great condition! Then when I messaged them inquiring about these overpriced items they sent me this bogus pre reply explanation saying that the records are out of print and based off the average current selling value for multiple sites like discogs and Amazon, yet even though Amazon may be overpriced for many of these records that are harder to find, they are NOWHERE NEAR being HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OVERPRICED! I just don't get it! I'm genuinely trying to understand the reason they're asking $200 for "the Nutty professor soundtrack" that could be found for $5 everywhere else? On top of that it's an album that NO ONE WANTS that they should practically be GIVING AWAY in a BARGAIN BIN for UNDER $3!! Can someone please help me understand what's going on here? DO they even WANT to sell many of these great records and turn a profit EVER? And I'm also wondering how long so many of these items have been sitting on their shelves? The reason they have such a large stock is because THEY ARE NOT SELLING ANY OF IT AT THESE EXTREMELY INFLATED PRICES! I mean even a sucker wouldn't pay $50-$309 for a record they could find at a hundred other places for $5 to $10 bucks! Or even a new item for $50 that they could buy anywhere else for $25! I'm almost convinced that this business is some type of money laundering front or something strange is going on! How have the owners not done an audit on their back stock and tried to price many of these records so that they would actually sell and be able to turn a profit? How do they stay in business?AND WHO TF do they have working for them pricing over 50% of their entire stock so obscenely high? ...DOOOOOOODDDD!!??! WHO is pricing these records?! Seems they start at $50 for anything remotely punk or HC . I will give you an example.. Dee Dee Ramone The Final Session, a $15 widely available 12" Ep with THREE songs priced at $199.98 + shipping!!?! I even emailed the shop to ask if it was autographed. Seeing as Dee Dee had been dead for over 10 years when it came out and I figured if this shop could conjure the dead it would CERTAINLY make it worth the extra $185 and would even be a steal!.. It is not. I really hope some kid getting into records doesn't stumble into this rip-off joint and think the prices are what records cost. Makes me want to drive to wherever in TX this place is with a bunch of new records and see what they offer me. I have only written a review on Yelp a few times and have NEVER written a bad review. Well, it's big. Lots of stuff. That's the good news. The rest is bad. First, the prices are unbelievably terrible. Super high. You can find 99.9% of their stock online for less. And that's the collectible stuff. The in print prices are even sillier. It's a mess. Literally. Stuff everywhere. Things no one has cared about since the '90s and won't ever care about again. All covered in dust and dirt. The staff seem OK. Sort of acknowledged me once. Unfortunately, at checkout the best I can say is the person was... aloof? At worst, they were just rude. Had a long conversation among themselves as I, the only person in the massive store, waited to buy one item. Why? The employees outnumber the customers. Surely, someone can pay attention. Nope. This is my first time and last time bothering to come out here. People have complained about the service here, which is surprising considering the experience I had today. I was greeted right when I walked in the door and, having identified myself as a first-time visitor, the owner kindly explained how the store was organized. Later he saw me with something in my hand and stopped to ask what I had found. I do, however, agree with the comments about inflated pricing for rarities. Based on what I've paid at record stores in Austin, the sticker price on limited releases and collectors items were about 2-3X what I paid. That said, I thought their pricing on audiophile editions (Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab) were pretty fair based on what I've seen online. read more

If you're looking for 90s-2000s albums, Forever Young is simply unmatched. They've got the older stuff too, but so does everyone else, right? I see multiple reviews mentioning inflated pricing, but I disagree. I'm not sure that I've caught any "bargains" here, but I'm finding albums that can't be found in person anywhere else. Can you find them on Discogs for cheaper? Probably, but if you want to get your hands on something without waiting for it to ship, Forever Young is your place. They have 10x the selection of Docs Records when it comes to contemporary and mid-00s alt/rock. Lots of which is hard to find, out of print stuff. They also have a large selection of vintage amps and speakers. I recently bought a Fisher RS-1020 from here, and it was in fantastic shape and priced quite fairly for the condition. I've been there three times now and have spoken with three different employees. All were super approachable and made friendly small talk. Check this place out when you can. read more

What a place! I stopped here on a drive to College Station from Dallas. Huge selection of vinyl categorized mainly by decade, including new releases. It was a pleasure to browse through the selection, even if my favorite decade (80s) was under one of the tables. Lol The chances are that you will find what you are looking for here, given the huge selection. Also, great friendly service - the owner even introduced me to an artist. Not many bargains though. Prices are insane. Went in to browse and found a couple records I wanted, but both were priced at $199.98! I asked why the prices were so high. Response: 'They're out of print and no copies are currently available on Amazon. If both are true, we price them at $200.' Me: 'But one of these records just recently went out of print and there are copies available on Discogs and at other record stores for about 15% of the asking price (i.e. $30). And the other record has sold a few times within the last two months on Discogs at around $30 each.' Them: 'Sorry, $200 each is our policy.' Me: 'Well, would you take "X" for both?' Them: 'We don't negotiate. Please hand me the records right now if you will not pay the price on the records. We don't like tirekickers in here.' My response: 'By all means -- here you go. My policy is not to support a business with a truly ridiculous pricing approach and assholish staff. Everything in this world is negotiable, and I've offered a fair price and been scolded for doing so. Adios.' Won't be back. Guess those records are going to sit on their shelves and collect dust (of which there's a lot in the store) until the place has to shut down and liquidate inventory, because there's no way in cold, bloody hell that anyone is going to pay those truly outrageous and comical prices. read more
