It may not be as big as bigger cities (LA, NY) but I'm glad they had one. Here was my experience here. AMBIANCE: It's in more of a suburban area of Chicago. Relatively close (15 minutes) away from the airport and from downtown. The place itself is on the 2nd floor of a building. It seems like a pretty historic brick building with a spacious layout. The layout is basically one big floor to dance on with ceiling lights and string lights to bright up the place. The class consisted of a lot of talented 40+ which was cool as they had a lot of knowledge to share. The size is great for group practices and socials. Parking - Pretty much just street parking. Customer Service - Awesome! My instructor was Dawn Lara and she was great! Knowledgeable and friendly. I felt pretty welcomed in this place. TL;DR OVERALL 4.5 Stars. I had a great experience here! The instructors were awesome and my classmates were pretty fun. One of the main things for me was always feeling will people be condescending and whatnot, but the vibes were pretty welcoming here. This was a good start to learning more about the dance community and scene here in Chicago, I just wish I stayed longer to learn more! This school is incredibly good. My kid attends classes for almost two years now, and he is still…read morenot bored. We tried many other sports: soccer, basketball, fencing, you name it, but this is the one he is really devoted to. The best part is the instructor, Master Angel. He teaches all classes by himself, and he is a true professional. Sir Angel instructs students not only how to defend themselves, but also teaches them discipline, respect to elders and each other. The classes are three times a week, and my kid also attends summer training camp. The camp is from 9am till 4 pm but he doesn't want to leave at 4, and stays for extra classes. New belt test is approximately every two months, and students also go to championships. And when I say championships, I mean the real ones, not the ones where losing teams get the same trophies as the winning team. I can't remember my kid losing once. The whole school does very well at the championships. Watching bigger kids' performance is like seeing Van Damme's movie. They are so good.

Since she started two years ago, her self confidence, coordination, and endurance has gone up drastically since she began training here. Master Ong and the other instructors are phenomenal. They have a visible passion for the art and pass that passion down to the students. Each instructor takes the time out to get to know all the kids to work with their strengths and weaknesses. They emphasize character building and respect for others. The Harwood Heights facility is very clean and they plenty of room for the students to train. They provide a flexible class schedule for kids and adults. On top of Taekwondo they offer music, adult aerobic classes and dance at the facility. So if your kids have multiple interests this is a great place to go. Did I mention they have summer camp and winter camp? I can't say enough good things about OTA, the instructors and the students here. If your looking to get yourself or your kids into martial arts, I would highly recommend Ong Taekwondo Academy.

It's tiny & dumpy. There are 2 studios and only 1 has a viewing window. The tiny tots class is 1 hour long...for 2 year olds, really? And too structured. All I hear coming out of the room is "you guys aren't listening"! No sh**, they are 2, it's suppose to be fun quit stressing about the plan you made and just play dance in front of the giant mirror. Anyhow, as soon as my kid is 3 we are out of there. I keep her in b/c it's still activity I cannot provide. The place is REALLY busy and I cannot imagine why. Maybe it's inexpensive.

Now 6 months later they follow directions, they sit for circle time, and love Senora Maria Emilia. They see the same classmates and the class keeps growing. I take them Saturday mornings from 9:30am- 12:30pm not only do they get to eat lunch there but it is a great BREAK for me to run errands and enjoy the famers marker without two 2 yr. old toddler twins. When they initially started going like any other child they would cry for Mommy, Maria Emilia asked me to stay in the lobby and she would call me if any assistance was needed. There were a few times where I had to sit in class with them to help ease the separation anxiety. Now they run into class when the door opens! The kids love Beth at the front desk and this place gives you a good home feeling. I would recommend this program to any parent particularly twin mommies... Band leader Bibi was wonderfully easy and responsive to work with in designing the music for our event. And the musicians were, in total, terrific. A meaningful and wonderful combination of Jewish, Israeli, swing, rock and every other music form one would wish for. Everyone enjoyed themselves, and a large part of that is due to the band's efforts.
