I have to say, for the Zurich prices, this place delivers. Great ambience, wonderful staff, delicious friend chicken (although a little tough to find/get to) we've been here many times and it does not disappoint especially on Fridays for the friend chicken. The coleslaw isn't great but the chicken is perfectly battered and crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The ginger sauce they provide is particularly tasty and so is the creamy garlic dip. Everyone seems to love their extensive beer menu and if you call a week or two in advance, reserving for a large group never seems to be a problem. The pulled pork and soft shell crab are pretty good but I wouldn't recommend the pulled beef. It was a strange sandwich because the meat was so chunky. A great American restaurant in the heart of Zurich. The menu is small since they are focusing on getting up and running before expanding their offering. They mainly have a club sandwich, hamburger, and crab cakes. They are proud of the beer that they import from Italy which they will be happy to recommend something for you. The beer garden is nice and intimate and you can check out the animals across the way or the little garden they keep in the corner of the beer garden. This is a fun place to visit if you need to be surrounded by English and enjoy some good old American food. They also do a lot of kids parties mainly for ex-pats. read more

It'd been over a year since I last ate in The Fork & Bottle, a restaurant that while on the edge of the city is a mere 12 minute ride with the S10 from Zurich HB. Entering the location, I was welcomed by nice shelving displaying the numerous specialty beers the restaurant has on offer including several specialty ones from New Zealand that they import themselves. The menu has also become much more creative and is beautifully presented. The decor is shabby chic making it comfortable and familiar. You feel like you're eating in someone's home. The food is fantastic and the labeling of vegetarian and gluten-free is helpful for those with allergies. We had the roasted root vegetable salad, a harmonious combination of veg with halloumi cheese and rucola. Our main course was the fried chicken - once regular and once gluten-free. Perfectly seasoned and crispy battered the portion is large and comes with several dipping sauces. The truffle and parmesan fries will blow your socks off. The service was friendly, attentive and quick, which shows that they pay attention to customers and are always improving. I look forward to my next visit already. read more

But hardly ever do I value anything more than a super friendly staff, interesting location, great atmosphere and a relaxing dinner. Menu is nice, clean, with all of the American staples... but wait... is that a soft-shell crab BURGER on the menu? I must have been asleep all these years, because I've never seen this back in the burger land. How more simple can that be - a deep fried crab, tartar, lettuce and good burger buns - yumm!!! Now, let's choose a beer - about 10 or so on the menu, wide range from porter to weissbier, have not heard of any brewery before, but descriptions read well. Done and done. This is a great alternative to the soulless restaurants people usually end up at in Sihl City, and for those further afield, its easily worth visiting (Brunau station on the S4 is 2 minutes away). Delicious and slightly upmarket pub food is the order of the day, with a special recommendation going to the Truffle Oil Fries and the Soft Shell Crab Burgers! The staff are great too, and very helpful. I first cam here for the "artisan beer" which has a catalogue of several A4 pages! My only issue is that (even for Zurich) beer is expensive, and the cheapest are usually 9 CHF for a 330 ml bottle. Or buy a 750 ml for 30 CHF! Ouch... But they really are exceptional beers from across Switzerland independent breweries, and stretching as far as New Zealand. read more

It's a restaurant running an American/British inspired menu (American owned/managed), known for their very interesting offering of rare imported beers especially from Italy. If you are a beer fan you must come here - everyone I know is impressed by the variety of their beer menu! But we are in Switzerland, so please to my fellow Americans, stop comparing it to what you get at "home" esp at double or triple less cost... Everything is relative. For Zurich brunch standards, it has a very nice Sunday brunch (which is only available on Sundays); my favorite is the eggs benedict (goes lovely with pulled pork) and home fries; and has a varied assortment of healthy smoothies. It's also good for lunch and dinner with decent sized portions for Zurich standards... The outdoor seating is superb and is quite big, and there are two levels of indoor seating; so altogether plenty of space for everyone. The location is great: in front of a small animal farm, and Is steps away from a big walking/jogging-dog walking track. The closest tram stop is Saalsporthalle and the Brunau S4 train stop is directly across it. The owner/manager of this place really take pride in their business and looks after their customers. These guys here really do try their best - great American hospitality here. I come here often and service is really good. However, one time I came with a group of people for Sunday brunch, and it seems it was during summer. holiday season when unfortunately they were short staffed one person so it created a bit of havoc on the whole wait staff/manager. Some of our orders were missed or slightly incorrect (asked for no sauce but it came with it, missing sides... Nothing catastrophic but could make someone potentially think about coming here a lot less). We I have lived in Zurich for quite sometime so I have seen my share of really bad service where people the wait staff made me feel the customer was always wrong so I didn't think this was the deal breaker. Shockingly the manager noticed this and offered to comp over 70% of our bill and even addressed the shortage situation without trying to give a spin to give any excuses!!! WOW!!! THESE GUYS REALLY CARE ABOUT THEIR BUSINESS AND DIDN'T RISK ANY UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS. It didn't take long to fall in love with Fork & Bottle. The setting - an old farmhouse on the edge of a meadow - lets you know that you're in for sometime special. The outdoor space was beautiful and relaxed. We sat inside due to rain, but we enjoyed the ambience there too. My husband and I shared a 3-course meal. First, we ordered the "Spring Vegetables" salad, which was absolutely divine (I wish I had it all to myself!). For our main, we ordered the ribs, which were very good. Finally, we ordered the deconstructed cheesecake for desert. The beer selection is vast and excellent. We enjoyed a couple from the menu. We felt cared for by the staff and the owner, Mike, and we really like his vision for the place. We will certainly be back! read more

Decent American food in Zurich. Have been here with friends in small and large groups multiple times. They need to get their Sunday brunch issues together. Way understaffed and takes away the usually pleasant experience. Other than that, will come again for the burgers and chicken wings with one critique: blue cheese needs an update. It needs to taste like blue cheese, not a water down version of blue cheese remains. How about different levels of spicy for the chicken wings? I was really excited about coming to brunch here. Finally a real American brunch! However I was severely disappointed. Now I have to admit that coming from chicago I am spoiled by having a ton of amazing places for brunch that are very reasonably priced so it doesn't help when I have a subpar brunch at triple the cost. Anyways our group started with the bread and pastry basket. The cinnamon rolls were dense and hard. The other breads were better but they didn't give you much. Sadly that was the best thing about the brunch. The bloody Mary's were way over spiced. Now I love a spicy Bloody Mary and I would like to think I can handle spiciness with the best of them but this bloody made your throat hurt and you couldn't even taste the Bloody Mary or really your food for the next couple of bites. I ordered the brioche French toast and was expecting fluffy beautiful French toast. What I got seemed like flat white bread dipped in egg. Um yea not what I was expecting. When my eyes see brioche I am not expecting flat white bread. There was absolutely nothing special about French toast. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito. Again coming from chicago where the breakfast burrito is a staple at brunch and some places in chicago really kick some major butt on their breakfast burritos, fork and bottle's breakfast burrito was a major fail. First the tortilla was over cooked - which I am not even sure how they did that? Don't they know tortillas are supposed to be warm and soft and fluffy (can you tell I like fluffy textures) and the burrito was poorly stuffed - there was barely anything in it. When I took bites of my husbands I felt like I had a tiny taste of chorizo with an overpowering mouthful of dry tortilla. Major disappointment. read more

My friend who has worked in Zurich for a few years recommended this location. We arrived around 1PM on a rainy Sunday and were immediately seated. I had the brioche french toast and my friend had the blueberry pancakes. I loved the blueberry compote. Everything was well cooked and very tasty. The drinks were pretty tasty as well. I definitely would recommend this restuarant to a friend. It overlooks the mountains and has a field outside where animals are running around. The beer card consists of a well-rounded selection of around 25 varieties, with something to please every palate. The beer garden is an oasis in the city, the atmosphere friendly and inviting. It appeals equally to the locals who live nearby and the international crowd who work in the area. But here's where Fork and Bottle may surprise you: their constantly evolving food selection is inventive, eclectic, and delicious! One day they may be featuring a curry-based dish, and the next you will have a juicy burger, with homemade bun, straight off the grill. The spinach and artichoke dip is to die for, as are the crab cakes! The proprietor has made a name for himself as one of the most creative and adventurous chefs in Zurich, and he continues to forge new ground with this restaurant. Service was friendly but somewhat disorganized. This is to be expected with any new establishment, especially one that is unique and independent, not a clone of the slick corporate places (yawn) that we are accustomed to in Zurich. They seem to be working out the kinks. A quaint, cozy restaurant in a beautiful location serving American & British specialties. Although the menu is small, there are a few fun dishes that make you feel like you're back home. I love their crab cakes! I don't know another place where I can find them, so that's always a special treat. The top floor is especially good for families with small children as they have a playroom in the adjoining room, which can also be used for private parties/meetings. When the weather is nice, it's nice to eat outside in their garden area and look out at a small barn (with horses) and big green fields just next door. The staff is great, and many speak mother-tongue English, so you feel like you're in the U.S. Just don't expect to pay American prices here, and the portion sizes are a bit on the small side. read more

This is the best place for beer in Zurich. The owner travels around to very small craft breweries in Switzerland and Italy and brings the beer back for you to enjoy. Ask him about it, he's a really nice guy. The beer menu is like nothing else you will see in Switzerland. And I really love the food here. I've had the veggie burger, the ribs, and the chips and spinach dip. All are very well put together dishes. They are fairly unique versions of these dishes, because they work with the ingredients that are available in Switzerland, and all are very good. I would come here all the time if I could afford to (it is quite pricey). read more

I've been here twice now and I have to say.. it's nothing spectacular. First time I went in the evening and had the pulled pork nachos as a starter and the beef burger as a main. The nachos were good, the burger was very average. They have a big beer menu, but the prices are very high (cheapest is a 10Fr beer bottle 3dl only).. even for Zurich standards thats quite a lot. Today I went again for lunch/brunch. Menu is quite small during the day, so choices are limited. I went for the breakfast burrito and my BF for the pulled pork eggs benedict. My breakfast burrito was quite bland and there was hardly any chorizo in it. Mainly consisted of scrambled egg. Home made fries - as they call them - were clearly reheated or refried potatoes. So ended up being very crisp. My boyfriends meal was mildly warm if not almost cold. Sauce was very thick and same problem with the home made fries. All in all not worth the money.
