I miss the golden days of wrestling in the 1980's in the US with Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and Andre the Giant with their personas and storylines. It was a soap opera but with wrestling. I also loved the GLOW (gorgeous ladies of wrestling... does anyone remember Big Bad Mama?) and their storylines too. Well wrestling in Mexico brings me back to those times. There are a few arenas where you could go to watch live wrestling but at Arena Mexico, they have the most matches offered during the week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays). I knew I wanted to see a lucha match, which ended up being one of the biggest highlights of our trip. You can purchase tickets on Ticket Master but it is actually a little cheaper if you purchase it at the box office on the day of. We arrived right when the match started and there were still plenty of seats to choose from. But if you wish to sit in the first few rows, then you have to purchase that online because those tickets sell out fast. But be forewarned that not only objects that could be thrown at the audience in those few rows, but also wrestlers too (but you get the best view for photos and video). Because i wanted to sit further back (although my husband wished we sat in the front row, lol), we were fine with just buying those tickets same day. Anyways, we had such a great time. It was nice to see that there were a lot of locals in the audience and they would chant certain phrases or scream out to the wrestlers that were seen as the villains and also booed. We came on a Tuesday for the 7:30 pm match. After purchasing the tickets, we had to get in line to get pat down. For the most part, women will be lightly pat down by women and men will pat down men. To make the process easier, I just brought my cell phone and cash in my pocket. I left my purse at home. Please note that outside food and beverages are not allowed inside. On the day we visited, the whole show of matches lasted about 2.5 hours. You can purchase food at the concession counters or you can also purchase food from the multiple vendors walking around and selling food and alcohol. My husband and I ended up grabbing tacos very close by afterwards (please note that there are multiple vendors outside selling luchador masks and other memorabilia which we also purchased some items. You can also come early to shop too. But you can also purchase luchador masks at some of the markets but it does seem like there is more variety and very colorful masks here. The prices do vary but seem to cost more here as well). With the restrooms, the ladies restrooms were clean and had plenty of toilet paper in the stalls. The only reason why I bring this up is that in my research to visiting Mexico City, it was highly recommended to bring toilet paper with you every where you go since a lot of restrooms do not have it. You can easily keep those packable travel tissue with you like Kleenex (which I have with me throughout our trip). Overall, we had such a great time and would definitely do it again when visiting Mexico City.

I've been here at least 5 times now and I consistently get my tickets at the window and sit in the same section without being forced to sit in the nosebleeds. The stadium sits over 40,000 but I've never seen it more than 5,000-10,000 people full. Probably the most important thing to keep in mind is that you need to be here with your entire group when you do buy the tickets or else is gets complicated. Not only is there a separate ticket window for sun (sol) versus shade (sombra), there's also different windows within those sections for 1st, 2nd, 3rd section (tendido) and general admission. And since you are assigned seat numbers, this is why you all need to be together. As far as where to sit, here's a little secret: bullfight season in Mexico City is only during the winter months from October-February when there isn't much sun anyway. So, if you want to stand in the longer line for the sun-side tickets, you'll end up spending a lot less money. But if you want to skip the long line and don't mind splurging a little more, go to the sombra window. As far as concession, the staff is on their game with drinks and food, but the food options completely suck and make no sense. Donuts, for example. The bull jerky I understand, but it's drier than a Mexican desert. That said, I don't recommend going here on an empty stomach, particularly if you plan on staying for each of the 5+ fights, which typically last anywhere from 20-30 minutes each.

I'll have a few pros and cons listed when compared to EDC Vegas as the closest comparison below: Pros: -Cheaper, EDC Mexico's VIP (Plus Pass) was as low as $230 USD compared to Vegas's $750+ USD for VIP -Transport: Metro costs 5 pesos, and ubering back costs no more than $40 USD even during 3x surge. Compared to EDC Vegas's $100+ for ubering back to the strip -Food and alcohol is cheaper too. Cost is typically half of what you pay in festivals in the states. -Bunch of unofficial merchandise sellers before the door. This is Mexico though, anytime there's a big event they are always there. Some have great deals and you are supporting the local community. -February in CDMX tends to be warm so no need to dress for cold weather like in Vegas in May. Cons: -Language barrier. I would go with a spanish speaker for the best experience but it's not necessary. -Official merch doesn't even include EDC Mexico or references to Mexico for some reason. Rather go unofficial for the cheaper and more supportive option to the community. -Taxis are a huge ripoff. Don't take them. One friend in my group got scammed $1200 USD and had to get that reversed because she gave her visa for some reason. No need for that, just call an Uber for a way cheaper option. The venue itself is huge but they have slightly fewer stages than EDC Vegas. However, overall it's still a fantastic experience when visiting. Tons of positive experiences throughout all 3 days. 10/10 would visit again.

I came to Arena Coliseo as part of a lucha libre Airbnb experience with some friends, so I'm not…read more100% sure about ticket prices or where to buy them (maybe Ticketmaster?), but I can share my experience. Overall, it was positive. At the entrance, they check your bag if you're carrying a backpack. The only things not allowed are water bottles and cameras, but they have an area where you can leave them and pick them up after the show. We had balcony seats and arrived around 7:15 PM for a 7:30 PM show. We were able to get great seats with a clear view of all the action. There were bathrooms conveniently located right behind us. The women's bathroom had four stalls and they were pretty clean! They sell water (and other drinks) inside for 40 pesos. If you buy water, they open the bottle and pour it into a giant paper cup for you. You do have to pay with cash. if you want to avoid getting stuck in traffic after the show, consider leaving early in the final match. We left after round 1 of the final match and saw a lot of taxis waiting outside. Overall it was a fun show and I would highly recommend visiting as a part of your CDMX trip!
