Located across the street from the military's MWR hotel, Hale Koa, the parking is conveniently located at the edge of Waikiki (close to town). I naively thought being a military oriented parking lot, it would be more affordable to part on-side. Even with the validation from the bell hop station, the cost was $24! BEWARE! I had one of the worst parking experiences here. After arriving late at night, I parked at Fort DeRussy believing the daily rate was $36, based on information I found on fortderussyhawaii.com--one of the only sites that comes up when you Google it. The next day, when I tried to leave, the charge was an outrageous $95. The parking manager was present, and when I explained the discrepancy, she dismissed the website entirely, claiming it wasn't "their" site. How would any visitor know that? She insisted she had no control over what's posted online, yet there is no official pricing listed anywhere on the Hale Koa Hotel site (which Fort DeRussy parking is tied to). Instead of acknowledging the confusion or offering any kind of resolution, she refused to budge. What made it worse was the slight smile on her face the entire time, as though she enjoyed denying help. That kind of behavior is shameful and reflects poorly on the management and Hale Koa Hotel. How is it helpful when you have to spend half an hour walking somewhere out of the way to get your parking discount? While the lot is in a very convenient location, especially if you are visiting areas on the west part of the main Waikiki strip. they have stopped issuing DoD discounts unless you walk up to the Halekoa hotel, find someone on staff who can validate your ticket, explain to them why you were using the lot and and why you deserve for your ticket to be validated, then walk back to the lot and pay the discounted rate. This makes no sense! For those using the Halekoa, there is a more convenient parking lot directly across the street from the hotel. They used to have somebody on site who would give you the appropriate rate. Now, if you don't have business at the Holly Kaaa, you have to make a separate half hour journey. $30 to park for a little over two hours yesterday. read more

Safe secure convenient parking for Waikiki and all Hotels within 1/2 mile, especially for military

Back in the day when my friends and I would go clubbing at The Cellar we would park here. We had friends in the military, so it would be $3 for the night. The lot is ran by the Hale Koa Hotel. You get a much better rate if you're in the military or a veteran. My buddy works in the area and parks here. He gets the military monthly rate for $120. It's $210 for non-military. The parking pass he has is unlimited. He can park here 24/7 365 days out of the year. The lot is a decent size and can accommodate many cars. There are some holes in the cement and it needs to be repaved. The lines separating the stalls are also faded. read more

Never parking here again! I was only parked for about two hours and my ticket would not work in the machine which probably got deep magnetized somehow. Instead of sending a parking attendant to come down, they told me I had a walk all the way to the Hale Koa hotel to pay. Great spot to park if you are eating at restaurants in surrounding hotels (Orchids, Monkeypod, Roy's, etc.). The Ft. DeRussy lot is operated by the Hale Koa, and offers monthly passes if you are in the area quite frequently. Active military and veterans do receive discounted rates with valid ID. The lot normally is packed but never fills up completely so you should be able to find a spot. It could use a repaving, there's a decent amount of potholes so be careful. If you work any any hotels nearby I'd say look into to monthly pass. Much easier than looking for parking or paying high parking rates at other lots. read more

So, when I was stationed at Wheeler Army Airfield/Schofield Barracks years ago, I used to park here when walking around with a few different friends and we could park for super cheap. Years later, I remembered about the parking and called to inquire if I would still be able to park here. While it IS open to the public, because I am service connected, I was able to get a discount. The parking garage by my hotel wanted $45/day (yeah, I know, thats cheap), but I did more research. when I called, the attendant told me to just buy a month pass. That's $130 for the month. 1 January 2021 *rolls eyes while writing this review* I was spending the new year in Waikiki so I needed parking. As I was driving by I saw a sign that said 'military' so I did a U-turn and came back to this parking lot. When I pulled up there was no attendant so I figured I would pull in so as not to impede traffic. since this was impromptu, I did not have time to check Yelp to read reviews prior to proceeding. The parking lot is standard for what it is and very basic. You can tell is had not been maintained in a while. It needs to be repaired and the lines repainted. Maybe that's why the fees are so high. I took a ticket, pulled in, parked, then walked back to the entrance to read the information. After reading and seeing the prices, I decided not to stay. I was already at the pay station so I put my ticket in...GUYSSS, I WAS NOT PARKED MORE THAN 5 MINUTES AND I STILL HAD TO PAY $9. They do offer reduced rates for military but you have to walk to Hale Koa hotel to get your ticket valid. :/ If I did decide to go get it validated, it would still cost me $4 so why even bother?!?! My husband tried to get the ticket validated at Hale Koa and was rudely denied by an employee. He is 1. A Veteran. 2. A DOD civilian employee with a CAC card. Stayed one week at the Grand Islander in Hilton Hawaiian Village, with our 21st floor lanai overlooking a huge three story parking garage, larger than a football field, across Kalia Road, near Ala Moana Blvd Went down to take a closer look, and it's called the Hale Koa Hotel garage, an automated facility, with a entrances on Kalakaua Ave near Keoniana St. and on Maluhia Rd near the corner of Kalia Rd. There is an overflow parking lot run by the same folks 300 yards away near the Hawaii Army Museum in DeRussey Park, next door to the Trump International Hotel Waikiki. Hence the name Fort DeRussey Parking. Designed for the military guests staying at the Hale Koa hotel or for Department of Defense civilian personnel, for whom it's $3.50 for the first hour, $2 for each additional hour, $30 per 24 hours, parking ticket validated with DoD id at the Hale Koa across Kalia Rd. If you aren't in the military and aren't attending a function at the Hale Koa, they really sock it to you, as it is $8 for the first hour, and $4 for each additional 30 minutes, $72 maximum for each 24 hours. That's double the price of what it was in 2015! For that price you get a clean facility, with a roof over your car, to shelter your chariot from the tropical heat and thunderstorms. I've been parking here for about 3 years, monthly parking pass holder here, because I work in Waikiki and finding parking everyday is ridiculously hard and expensive. So far, my car has been safe at this parking lot. Obtaining a parking pass from Hale Koa includes 2 parking areas, the Fort DeRussy Parking lot (open air parking near Trump Hotel) and the Hale Koa Parking garage (across the street from Hale Koa Hotel). Here are a few pro's and con's to this parking area. Pros: -2 different locations to park your vehicle at. -For the most part, it's safe. -When there's events going on in Waikiki you're guaranteed a parking stall because you're a monthly parking pass holder. -It sits just on the out skirts of Waikiki so if there's any festivals or block parties you'll still be able to get in and out of Waikiki without having to fight too much traffic. Cons: -It's EXPENSIVE. Hourly parking is RIDICULOUSLY expensive and the monthly pass is just as expensive. -The lighting in the parking lot is very dull and dark in some areas. I usually just carry something to protect myself with incase something jumps out at me. -The parking stalls are in existent. Most of us just make up our own parking stalls because no one takes the time to repaint the stalls. -The trees are not taken care of and there are super long vines that'll touch peoples car or grow into the roadway. -There's always abandoned cars parking in that parking lot. I believe right now there's 2 abandoned cars that just sit there 24/7. One of the cars windows are opened and there's a bunch of leaves, branches, and rubbish in the car. Overall, it is what it is. I need a place to park and this place is convenient so I just suck it up. I'll give this place 3 stars until they do some parking stall painting and trimming on the trees. read more

We were in Waikiki for 3 weeks so I bought a monthly pass for $185 which was about 1/3 the price of parking in the resort's garage. First off I am DoD and had made the walk up the hill to have my ticket validated. Went to leave after being parked for 3 hours (7-10 pm on a Thursday) and it cost $29!!!! Thats almost the daily advertised rate for 3 hours. It seems that there is actually no rhyme or reason to the charge because I parked there for 3 hours on a Saturday night and it was $9. The interesting thing about this lot is that it is an open lot for U.S. Military, former Military, DoD civilians and the public. It is managed by the Hale Koa Hotel, a resort that serves U.S, Military members and their families. The lot is an overflow parking facility in addition to Hale Koa Hotel's parking structure. This parking lot is bordered by the Trump Tower on Saratoga Rd. and the U.S. Army Museum on Kalia Rd. It is a short walk to the Waikiki Beach Walk, Royal Hawaiian Center and several other World-Class resorts. Bear in mind, it is on the opposite end of Waikiki from the Honolulu Zoo and Kapiolani Park. You enter through a gated and monitored driveway near the corner of Saratoga and Kalia Road. Get your ticket from the ticket dispenser and find yourself a parking space. KEY POINTS: - EVENING PARKING: As you pass through the gate, take note of an attendant's presence in the booth. If you're not attending a function or event at the Hale Koa and have your CAC, make sure that you show your ticket and ID to the parking attendant to receive the proper fee structure. Otherwise, you could go to the hotel to have your parking validated at the function you're attending. By getting the attendant to mark your ticket with your Government status before he/she leaves for the day, you can insert your ticket into the pay station and be charged correctly. - DAY PARKING: There will be an attendant on duty so as you exit, you can show your ID/Military status or hotel validation to receive the appropriate fee. Night Shymalan movie about the trees, where Mark Wahlberg was constantly running and driving around. It would have been a better movie if the trees came alive or even if the animals revolted against .... nevermind. I'm not sure where I was going. The parking lot is large, with many parking spaces. It offers shelter to your vehicle and shade. I'm referring to the trees, there's no actual car ports. If you're staying at the Hale Koa or military, you're eligible for a discount. Parking downtown can be hell. The parking lot is across from the god-emperors hotel and it's also a short walk you the beach. The museum across the street is free and pretty legit. Just last week we parked for a night and paid $17 as we have since we moved to the island. Today we enjoyed a staycation at Hilton Hawaiian Village and instead of paying the $27 self parking and using the Hilton parking structure we figured we would save $10 by making the extra walk from the Army parking lot. We were shocked to discover the price hike in just a week's time and WOW Hilton is actually cheaper and CLOSER!! Military patrons pay more than what the non-military hotels are charging. This is one of the cheapest, most convenient places to park for larger vehicles. For military/DoD there is a reduced rate, but you have to validate at the hotel. Worth the 10 min walk to get half off. Most places in Waikiki do not have above 6 ft clearance & have "out by 5pm" rules. Both the Hale Koa garage & Ft Derussy do not have these restrictions. If you stay at the Hale Koa, its $7 a day, but if you stay somewhere else for a few nights, its $18 for 24hrs (military rate). This is my go-to parking in Waikiki. This parking has an easy access to the beach and it is only $5 for 8hrs for military. The location itself is a bit far from the heart of Waikiki. So depending on where you are going in Waikiki, I would recommend to park at Honolulu Zoo parking, which is on the other side of Waikiki. There is supposed to be a person in the booth to validate your parking ticket for military, however they are not always there. In that case, you have to walk all the way to the hotel, which could be a good 15min-20min walk round-trip. Nonetheless, it is still an amazing price for military personnel. read more

First off, I hate paying for parking and will avoid patronizing a business if it means I have to pay for parking. Sadly, if you want to play tourist in Waikiki, you have no choice but to pay for parking. The kids were on spring break and the hubby took the day off so we decided to bring the kids to Waikiki. This was the kids' first visit to this area since we left the island when my first born was only 3 months old and we try to avoid coming to Waikiki because we don't want to battle the tourist crowd. Parking at this location used to be a great deal 10 years ago. Just like everything else on this island, the price to park here has skyrocketed. Although, the nice thing about this parking is that there are always plenty of spaces. We got our parking ticket and validated it at the Hale Koa and walked around Waikiki. When we got back in our car the gate attendant charged us $13.50. When I asked her if that price included the validation, she confirmed that it did, but because my husband's rank is pretty high, we have to pay more. I was not aware that parking was prorated based on rank. I don't recall if their policy has always been like that. She did mention that the price would have been cheaper if we had eaten at one of the restaurants. When we told her that we ate at Ruth's Chris, she said we should have gotten our ticket validated there so we don't have to pay as much. And unfortunately, our credit card had already been charged. I guess that's good to know for next time, but on this visit we are out of luck. I learned that if a place validates, get your ticket validated even though you already have validation from another location because you'll never know which validation will result in cheaper parking fees. read more
